Report Back on Chow recommendations As per the board practice, here's a brief on Chow recommendations while in Manhattan. Persian at Persoplis (UES), French at Alloutette (UWS) and Indian at Nivrvana (midtown) all proved to be reasonably priced, flavorful and fun. Not too loud, seemed family friendly and all within easy walking distance of the subway or bus. Thanks for the good help. Not a Chow recommendation but one of our favorite was Crispo on 14th street for delicious Italian. Loud, good service and a very nice selection. Our one splurge was Babbo in the West Village, one of Batali's joints. Nothing special and some dishes were disappointing. Thanks for the help from all the hounds. ----- Crispo Persepolis Alouette Nirvana |

We're staying at a downtown hotel (Robson and Richards) and first time in Vancouver. Can I assume that there are plenty of neighborhood (not chain) restaurants within walking distance and anyone have any non fancy-schmancy gems that we should not miss? |

Michael Smith's in Kansas City? We ate there the first week of opening and the service was a bit rough, perhaps understandable and the place is pretty loud. As for the food, good, but not spectacular and not as good as Smith's old haunt, 40 Sardines. For the price and for what it should be, nothing really popped. |
