Bar Pitti or Gene's in West Village??
Thanks, Chuck.
I like the idea of Bar Pitti but it really takes a beating on menupages in the reviews (mostly regarding service.) It will be on a Saturday. Are they still less crowded for lunch??
Thanks!

Bar Pitti or Gene's in West Village??
<<<>>
That describes my 68 year old aunt (who will be with me) perfectly! LOL
Maybe I should start a new topic, asking for other suggestions, altogether???
Bar Pitti or Gene's in West Village??
Hahaha. Yes...that looks one in the same. Someone recommended it on Tripadvisor. I checked it out on menu pages and it got great reviews and I liked the look of the menu. No good???? Any other recommendations?? Just curious...what is wrong with Gene's???
Bar Pitti or Gene's in West Village??
I realize I am probably comparing apples and oranges with these 2 places but have narrowed it down to these 2....I think.
Looking for a nice lunch before an off broadway show in the West Village. Would like to keep it in the ballpark of $100 for 2. Hip scene is nice but good food is more important. Any thoughts??

Any Other After Dinner Drink Recos in Neighboehood of Little Branch?
It looks like Little Branch is out. Any other recommendations for drinks in that area? We are 2 couples in our late 40's. Just looking for something casual and comfy, where we can hear each other speak. Meeting friends from London that we haven't seen for awhile.
Having dinner at Trattoria Toscana at 7:30. Looking for something in walking distance.
Thanks in advance.
Kim
Just Spoke To Little Branch...No Reservations
Just got off the phone with a guy at Little Branch. He said they do NOT accept reservations.
I was inquiring about a Friday night at around 9:30 PM. He said it would be close to a 15 minute wait outside and then another 30 minute wait at the bar before you could get a table.
How busy are PDT and Little Branch late Thursday's?
Kathryn...yes, I was referring to Little Branch. I think I'll give them a call just to be on the safe side.
Also, just wanted to thank you for all your help on this forum!! Really do appreciate it!

Kathryn,
Do you you think I should make reservations for 4 people on a Friday night at 9:30?

You can make reservations at Little Branch? Just to sit and have drinks?
We were thinking of stopping in for drinks next Friday after dinner. Probably looking at 9:30. Should I make reservations?

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys! Yes, we are in our mid-late 40's (or at least husband is!) Not exactly fossiles...but not looking to dance til we drop, either. We will be meeting friends from the UK. Only get to see them once or twice a year. Just looking for a relaxed atmosphere, where we can hear each other talk.
I didn't realize there was a place right next door. Thanks for the suggestion of "Sweet Revenge."
Also,
If we decide to take a walk after dinner...is it an interesting neighborhood to walk around?
Thank you so much for your input!

keens steakhouse recommendations
We'll be at Keens in 2 weeks. Nobody seems to be mentioning the filet mignon. Is it a mistake to order it?
6th Avenue Cafe or Cosmic Diner for Breakfast?
We are just looking for simple, "diner type" breakfast food. Checked out menupages.com and found these two in the MTW area.
Any thoughts on either?
Thanks,
Kim

Thanks for the help, guys. Is there any website similar to menupages.com where you can compare the prices for cocktail lounges?
Thanks,

Breakfast near w 57th street
Sorry,
I should have been more specific. Vacinity of Le Parker Meridian. 118 W. 57th between 6th and 7th. Actually, we like a good walk in the morning...so even if it's not exactly in that block, it's ok.

Someone suggested "Little Branch". It's sounds perfect. Has anyone been?
After dinner drinks near Keen's Steakhouse
This is probably a stupid question...but is Madison Ave considered "walking distance" if you're in heels?
After dinner drinks near Keen's Steakhouse
OK. Thanks for that info. We have never been to Keen's. Didn't realize they had a "bar area". We might just stay put!

Can anyone suggest a good breakfast place? Something reasonably priced as we will be paying outrageous prices for dinner.

Babbo review - can you stand another?!
In the event we can't get a reservation at Babbo...
Is there another restaurant you would recommend for the tripe?
Babbo, Vice Versa or Trattoria Trecolori?
Chef June,
Regarding the rabbit thing. It's just that I prefer to see them in my yard as opposed to my dinner plate. My mindset is (and I agree it's not a normal one) if they have rabbit in the kitchen...who knows if they are grinding it up and adding it to other dishes??? Yes, I know I am crazy. Do you feel sorry for my husband?
That being said...I did call Babbo today only to find out (as another poster said) you can't make a reservation until one month before the actual date.
I will try again on August 26 at 10 AM and see what happens.
In the meantime I look forward to any other suggestions anyone has.
You guys have been so helpful! I love this forum! I realize that food is very subjective...but it still helps a great deal to hear all the different opinions.
Thank You!

Keen's or Peter Luger's?
Just wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone who responded. I think we will take our chances and go to Keen's this time around.
I so wish I had found this website before our trip to Manhattan this past January.
We had dinner at Pellegrino's in Little Italy and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. We all enjoyed Pellegrino's. I was disappointed in Ruth's Chris. It was quite expensive and in my opinion...I've had steaks that were just as tasty if not better at Outback.
But then again...I also enjoy "boxed wine!" So maybe I'm not a qualified judge. LOL.
Babbo, Vice Versa or Trattoria Trecolori?
Charles,
I have no idea if they have dined at those restaurants.
I'm not trying to "outdo" any restaurants abroad...just looking for delicious food, good wine and nice, cozy atmosphere.
Do you have any favorites in Manhattan??
Babbo, Vice Versa or Trattoria Trecolori?
Hi Ann,
At the risk of being made fun of...as soon as I saw "rabbit" on the menu, I was turned off. I would just like a place that offers a "happy medium." Something halfway between spaghetti and meatballs and rabbit. If that makes any sense.
You guys are so helpful. I am becoming addicted to this forum!
Maybe I'll go back and have another look at their menu.
