Thank you, Carmen. One Market's menu looks scrumptious, but $59/pp is way over our budget. Any other ideas?

RW Orange: Great list! You haven't, by any chance, updated the info for 2010? That would be really helpful. Thanks.
Guaymas Engagement Dinner
Just wanted to give back to this great site for all the help you've given me even though it's been quite a while since our event.
We hosted a small engagement dinner for our son and fiancée on a Saturday evening last October at Guaymas in Tiburon. It was a big success.
Mariana was very helpful in arranging for us to have the private dining room off the upper deck. What a setting and view! Even though we didn't really have enough people to meet the steep minimum for the room, I asked her to accommodate us because we really wanted to have a private room. I'm so glad I asked. Another advantage is that there is a little bar upstairs, so you don't have to wait forever for your drinks.
I was able to select a menu of shared appetizers which we passed around. They were all delicious. We then all ordered our own entrees. The table was nicely decorated with brightly colored napkins and placemats which made it very festive.
The only slip up was that the table wasn't ready even though we arrived 10 min. late. Even though Mariana said she arranged everything in advance, they didn't seem to be aware that there was an event at our start time. So, I would suggest that you call the day of your event if Mariana isn't on duty that day.
Fortunately, everyone else was late, too, and the upstairs manager, whose name I have forgotten, was really great and scrambled everyone to set up quickly. It worked out very well and a great time was had by all. Everyone raved over the room, the setting and the food. It may not be up there with the top Mexican restaurants, but it was just perfect for this occasion: Elegant, festive, good food and great service. I would do it all over again.

Thanks, RGR and to all of you. At this point it looks like we're going to have the dinner at Tre Amici in Long Branch.

Any updates on Plan B? Any idea why the post you linked to was removed?
Just checking.
One more question: Any comments on having a rehearsal dinner at Richard's Deli in Long Branch? Thanks.

Engagement party Whippany or Morristown? - moved from Mid-Atlantic board
We're planning an engagement party for about 30 people. We'd like a private room, reasonable prices and good food. Near Rt 10 or 287 would be ideal.
Asian food is out.
Thank you.
Chinese takeout Cranford,NJ?
We visit our family in Cranford often and have been really disappointed with the Chinese takeout we've tried. Sorry, I can't remember the names of the restaurants we have tried.
Any recommendations?
Rehearsal Dinner In or Near Long Branch
boodie: I'm anxious to hear how the wedding was, especially the food. I'm from Sonoma and rather spoiled by the high level of food here.
tshore: lots of negative reviews about all the restaurants in PV. i'm really turned off and would be reluctant to give it's greek to me a try. Mr. C's has gotten quite a few good reviews here and they seem to have a great menu and reasonable prices. Any thoughts about Mr C's.?

Chowhounds: I'd appreciate your recommendations for a casual, nice, not-too-expensive restaurant with a private room for about 60 people for May, 2009 rehearsal dinner. Wedding reception will be at McLoone's so that one is out.
Most guests are staying at Ocean Place, so it would be great to have it within walking distance or a very short drive from there.
Thanks for your help.
Private Party at the Jersey Shore
Hi, SusieQQ. How was the party?
We're having a wedding at McLoone's next May and will be looking for a rehearsal dinner restaurant soon.
Has anyone heard of Ketchup in Asbury Park?
Yes, I agree. That's what made me suspicious. Then when nothing came up in my Google search, I became even more so.
I'll let you know.
Thanks, Susie QQ.
Has anyone heard of Ketchup in Asbury Park?
Saw this restaurant on TripAdvisor. 3 posters raved about it. Google has no listings, but the address shown on TripAdvisor is: 101 Asbury Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ 07712
Has anyone ever been here?
Wedding at Avenue Le Club, Long Branch [moved from Tristate board]
Thank you all for your help. The space just wouldn't work out - as some of you pointed out. We went to see it during a rainstorm on a Sunday and 150 people just wouldn't have fit. We had been offered both the upstairs and the downstairs on a Sunday out of season, which is the only reason we were interested. That offer seems to have been conveniently forgotten when we asked about it.
We're going to book at McLoone's - not as hip, but you can't beat the 180 degree view of the ocean and beach, and that is what the bride and groom had their hearts set on.
Wedding at Avenue Le Club, Long Branch [moved from Tristate board]
My son and his fiancee fell in love with the Avenue. Love the hipness and view as well as the prospect of having the whole place for the reception off-season.
I'm the worried Mom. I've read some pretty disturbing reviews, some mixed, and a few good.
Have any of you attended receptions here? Updates on the food and service would be most welcome as well.
Thank you.
