San Antonio recommendations

I agree with Pavil, Kim Wah and Le Reve, but for Italian, Il Sogno just openned at pearl and is the best Italian this town has ever seen.

Bridal Luncheon in San Antonio--ideas?

Check out Brasserie Pavile. It's on 1604 and Huebner behind Wild Fish Grill. Great room, outstanding food and very good service. Not a bar scene like Wild Fish. They have a small private room as well.

seeking spendy tex food in San Antonio

You might try Liberty Bar. They don't do Tex-Mex but they do dabble in interior Mexican. Most everything is interesting on their menu.

Two nights in San Antonio

Le Reve and Biga and Sandbar are head and shoulder above the rest of the area. Boudro's is good as is Pesca at the watermark Hotel.Iin Southtown, just a couple of blocks away, is El Miradore for great Tex-Mex.

San Antonio

Try Bistro Vatel - Great Duck Confit
Liberty Bar - Texas, Interior Mexican
El Mirador - Best Mex I've had.
Jeruselum Grill - Great Middle Eastern
If you have a good sized budget Le Reve is outstanding and Biga is very good.

Dallas to San Antonio + Riverwalk

Great food and four year olds can be a tough combo. I'd avoid the riverwalk for dinner and go to southtown, about two or three block south of the riverwalk. El Mirador is one of the best Mexican restaurants in town and Rosario's is just aound the corner. Just north of downtown is Liberty Bar, a very good spot depending on your childs patience.
If you're going to stay on the river for dinner, Boudro's is the best "Riverwalk" restaurant but you'll no doubt learn why locals don"t eat on the river.

Chinese in San Antonio??

Kim Wah on Bandera is great, but you have to be adventurous and let them know you are willing to be. Bring your own wine and take your time with some duck or a whole fish.

good eats in Houston, Austin, San Antonio?

In San Antonio, try Liberty Bar. Great Texas food and atmosphere as well as Vegitarian friendly.

Wine for Peking Duck

Pinot Noir. Preferably Burgundy. Too much fruit clashes with the plum sauce. Try Fixin or Marsanney. Fairly inexpenssive and full of acid to play off the fat and fruit of the duck.

The Best Authentic San Antonio food

"Authentic San Antonio" is tough to peg. Strong Mexican and Military influences make SA particularily diverse. Here's two Latin influenced greats.
Check out La Playa on West Ave. for Tamales wrapped in bannana leaves, as well a Honduran and Salvadoran goodies. El Mirador on S St Mary's is very good as well for Mole and fresh corn tortillas.
