Thai ice tea in Toronto?
Hello!
Anyone know where I can get Thai ice tea in Toronto?
Thanks in advance!
ViPei Bistro - Has anyone been?
I've been to ViPei and Vivetha and I really like them both! My favourite dish is their Tri-colour tortellini, the sauce is SO good! Very heavy though, so be warned.
Their brunch is good too, I like their version of home fries, it's more like roast potatoes with onions and peppers. They give big portions and it's all really well priced too, like under $10 for most items.
Depending on when you're going, a reservation couldn't hurt.

ISO good poutine downtown
I also like Poutini's, they layer their curds! Although I'm pretty sure it's just poutine on their menu though. I like Harbord House's poutine, it's with both regular and sweet potato fries. their gravy is rather thin but I think it tastes like a nice and homemade. This is a pub so they'll have many options there. There burgers are always good. http://www.harbordhouse.ca

House on Parliament temporarily closed while moving next door
I went two weeks ago on Feb. 22 and really liked it. I never went to their previous location so I can't compare but I thought it was a cozy pub with a good selection of beer on tap. The food I had was yummy - pulled pork sandwich + duck ravioli (a special). I had good service when I went, the staff was friendly and was quick to top off our glasses and remove our plates. The only slight delay was when we were waiting for our bill but considering how it was really busy and they probably just opened it was understandable.
Rolling Rock Beer
The House on Parliament has it on tap! http://www.houseonparliament.com
Rolling Rock on Tap
I just tried it last week coincidentally! I hadn't heard of it before so I didn't know it's a 'new to Ontario' thing. It's available on tap at the House on Parliament (http://www.houseonparliament.com) at Parliament and Carlton. They had a good selection of other draft beers and their food was yummy too! I think they just moved into their current location (right beside their previous) so everything is newly renovated.
Sesame shrimp in a mayo sauce? Anyone know what I mean?
This isn't exactly what you're looking for but maybe more like a variation. I've had a dish called ' Rock Shrimp' at Sushi D on College in Little Italy that was really delicious. The shrimp isn't battered, but appears to be fried with garlic and has Japanese mayo sauce. I love this!

Where to buy Vienetta Ice Cream
Aw, thanks anyways everyone! I wanted to get it for my friend's birthday who's Irish. Apparently it's still available in the UK so if any of you happen to go there you can taste it again!
Where to buy Vienetta Ice Cream
Hey,
I was just wondering if anyone knows where I could find Vienetta ice cream in Toronto. It's like a small ice cream cake thing that has rippled layers and is sold in grocery stores. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any idea on where I could get it! Thanks!
Chicken shawarma on Yonge between College and Dundas
Pita Land is definitely my favourite too! Everyone I know who's had it, loves it. If it isn't too far of a walk for you, I'd highly recommend giving it a go. I always get the chicken shawarma. They don't fry up their falafels fresh, but they're really crispy because they're fried on a metal stick so it's a shaped like a really plump donut. They're really tasty too.
What to order at Otto
Helloo,
I visiting New York this week and I was planning on dining at Otto. I was just wondering what are the best things to order from their menu. I looked at order posts, but they're all quite old, nothing from 2009. So I'd appreciate any suggestions that come up! Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the suggestions il Trifulau & bigjeff!
Where to get deep fried Mars bars in Toronto?
Mmm Guinness ice cream! Do you think it's from Ed's? That's the only time I've ever tried that.
Best Sangria Spots in Toronto
Wow, thanks everyone!
MoMo's didn't strike me as a sangria type place. I actually haven't eaten there, but I looked at their menu once but we decided to go somewhere else instead just because we wanted more atmosphere.
I've never heard of Brownstone's or Nyood's, I shall look into that!
I've had it at Nirvana & the Greenroom a few times. While I find it enjoyable, I find it a bit watered down, but for $16 I really can't complain. They also have nice juices to choose from which I like.
kalendar sounds interesting with their mandarins. & I prefer to get it in a pitcher, so that's good to hear. Cafe Diplomatico's frozen fruits sound nice too, I hope that means less ice & more liquids.
I've passed by Boulevard Cafe many times but have never been. Their patio looks really cute. Maybe I'll give them a go if the weather ever decides to warm up to patio time.
It's convenient that a lot of these suggestions seem to be in the same area. As for the ones that aren't, it never hurts to venture out to new areas in Toronto. =)
BTW I've also had sangria from this Mexican restaurant across from the flatiron building (can't remember the name, sorry). While the sangria was yummy, the food was nothing to rave about. I got fajitas and the skimpy amount of fixings (lettuce, cheese, salsa, etc) was appalling and they charged us extra when we asked for more. I wouldn't have minded if they had given enough to make more than 2 fajitas to begin with.
Suggestions for dining near the Canal and Hudson Streets.
Hi!
I'll be visiting NY this week and one of the things I'll be doing is going to a comedy show at 200 Hudson St. I was hoping I could get some suggestions for where to dine in that area. I'm open to all types of foods and looking for something in the low/mid-range pricing but am also open to "not to miss" type places even if they're a little bit pricier. Thanks!
ISO a great Mac and Cheese
I've had the mac & cheese at Harlem and found it to be really delicious! I agree with how it's a generous size for a side. I think it could have been a small meal on its own. The rest of the food there is pretty yummy too.
Best Sangria Spots in Toronto
I was just wondering what are some of the best places to get sangria in Toronto. I've read other posts that all seem to recommend Torito in Kensington Market, but surely there are more?
Sidecar, Harlem or Globe?
I've actually gone to Harlem & neither of the other two! I had a really pleasant experience there. Their candied yams are really yummy. The mac & cheese is really good too, seems like they use good cheese and it's not too saucy. I've heard the fried chicken is really good and it's my friend's favourite. I want to go back to try it. In general, all their food had really fresh ingredients and were flavourful. The prices are reasonable and the decor is nice. They had interesting chairs by the bar area and now they have a patio outside which should be nice. (Speaking of patios, Sidecar's patio is suppose to be really good.) I think the only downside about Harlem is the area it's in because there isn't too much interesting places to go around there, Although there's an Irish bar on the street corner near by that's suppose to be fun times. BTW, if you order the "sides" you should intend to share them because the portions are big!
Best cupcakes in T.O.?
One of my favourite locations would have to be Life is Sweet on Queen E. in the Beaches area. Their cupcakes are always moist and flavourful! The butterscotch is my number one favourite and the Earl Grey with an orange cream frosting comes in as a close second. SO good! Unfortunately their website only has contact info: http://lifeissweet.ca/
Savoury & Sweet Fondue Places
I was just going to say I went to Art Square Cafe too! My friend and I had a quite enjoyable experience. We were served the same fruits you mentioned, but no strawberries. We also ordered a savoury crepe with sundried tomatoes, feta & mint and it was really yummy.
As for the service, I thought the girls working there were so nice and friendly. It was a bit slow, but I feel like they put some effort in to making the things.
Has anyone tried their cheese fondue? I plan on going back for that. I think it's the same price as the chocolate, for those that are wondering.

Good veg middle eastern food? (Esp foul)
I went there once and enjoyed it very much. I got their chicken platter type dinner and everything on it tasted very fresh. I remember it had hummus and tabbouleh with it. I don't recall anything that was too different, although I wasn't exactly looking at that since my dining companion isn't very adventurous and we were sharing that night. They also had mahalabia for dessert which I thought was so delicious. It was my first time trying that so I don't know how authentic it was but I loved it.
Dinner close to Yonge and Dundas
I really enjoyed my experience at Harlem! Their candied yams were really delicious. I also tried their mac & cheese and love it. It's strange you found yours too watery, because I actually thought the opposite. I found it really nice and creamy and not in the least watery. I even accidently spilt a bit of water in to it and it still wasn't watery! Perhaps we had different chefs? Although I met the chef when I was there and it appeared that he cooked everything. He was very nice. I also tried their jerk chicken quesadilla which was yummy but not really my kind of taste preference. Their accompanying salad was fresh and the mangos perfectly ripe. Also had their chocolate cake and peanut cake, both were good, but I prefered the chocolate as it was dense and moist. I want to go back for their fried chicken!
Where to get deep fried Mars bars in Toronto?
I tried the deep fried MB at the Duke of Gloucester the other day! I thought it was so good. It was served with two scoops of vanilla ice cream too. I don't know if that's normal or if it was because it was obviously going to be shared between two people.
Today I'll be going to the Cloak & Dagger. I'm tempted to try the DFMB there too, but I think twice in one week is not a good idea.
Great lunch, outstanding Winterlicious value + Howie Mandel at Archeo
I'm going there for winterlicious lunch tomorrow! Hopefully my experience will be as good as yours! I almost went to Veritas too actually, but it wasn't a toss up with me. Just a separate outting altogether, guess it's good I didn't then?
Davids Tea on Queen West
I love David's Tea too! Every time I've been there the staff is super nice and the teas are so delcious. Didn't know about the Turkish Delight one, that sounds really interesting. I'll remember to check that out next time. & I agree with befuggled on the cupcakes. Huge, delious and so moist!
Mahalabia recipe please
I didn't even know they had orange blossom water. thanks! I bet I'd like it, I had an orange blossom flavoured gelato once and it was so delcious.

OH MY! A deep fried creme egg sounds epic!
Mahalabia recipe please
Thanks so much! I will definitely try this out when I have time! When I ate it, it was served with rose syrup and pistachios and I thought it was just so light and refreshingly delicious.
Best places around Ryerson University!
I've never heard of the Trinity Square Cafe before, I'm exicited to try it out! Thanks!
I have gone to the Kitchen Table for their sandwiches before though. SO good on their twister bagels. I always get a bunch of grilled veggies and a type of meat. I also like their large soup selection there since most places only have one or two. Here they have more than 12 I think!
Best places around Ryerson University!
Finally tried Manpuku in the Grange today. LOVED IT! That place is so cute and the service is amazing. I wasn't aware it was almost like a separate little restaurant since it's in the Grange foodcourt. The noodles were so flavourful and had the perfect amount of chew. I got the Curry Beef Udon ($5.99 + tax). The serving is huge but if it's not enough can get a noodle refill for only $1.10. I also wanted to try their pudding which is like a custard, but they were sold out. Apparently it's so popular they always sell out super quick. Here's the website: http://www.manpuku.ca/
