Misoya – Interesting and Tasty Hokkaido Style Miso Ramen

I was nervous to try Ramen Misoya based upon all of the reviews here and elsewhere and I was pleasantly surprised! So, lets get to the point. The staff is chinese not japanese, and there is no way that the noodles were homemade however, the broth was very very tasty, I had the dark miso with pork and the fried shrimp and my wife had the miso ramen with kimchi and both were excellent! I will definately try it again to check their consistancy. But, I would definately reccomend this place.

Ribeye for Two at Del Posto/Babbo

The ribeye at Babbo is AMAZING!!!

where to buy crawfish in NY?

recently spotted FRESH crawfish at the Lobster Place in the Chelsea Market.

Go Burger no longer kid friendly!!!!

I went to Go Burger on 2nd Ave and 75th Street last night, as I had been a steady regular customer. I ordered a kid shake for my son, which is regularly $3 dollars, and the bartender snatched the $20 out of my hand while we were waiting, so I snatched it back! Then, she brings over a bill that shows that the shake is $8 dollars and not the $3 dollar price!! When I questioned this, I was informed that as of Tuesday June 7th, GO BURGER NO LONGER HAS A KID"S MENU!!!! In the past, we have always had a pleasant experience at this formerly family oriented restaurant. However, they are were rude, unhospitable, and made it clear that they want to rid Go Burger of the family crowd. SHAME ON THE MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!

Rack & Soul and Charles Southern Kitchen

I was at Rack and Soul on Saturday May 21st, late afternoon/early evening and it was better than ever! The pork ribs were perfect, the fried chicken amazing, and the sides spectacular! Had okra, collard greens, beans with burnt ends, and a waffle! Even the biscuits at the beginning of the meal were flaky and buttery. I don't know if Charles was there however, the kitchen was cooking on all burners!! Can't wait to go back!!!

STEER CLEAR LIST - Worst Meal You've Had in the Last Six Months

Everyone writes about the best experience they've had, or maybe even a less than stellar experience. However, we need a place to really vent and let people know about places that they should steer clear of.

Honestly write about a very poor meal or dining experience that you have had during the last six months (so that we can keep this list somewhat current) and, why the establishment should be avoided!

Best Wing in Manhattan?

I have had surprisingly good buffalo wings at Five Napkin Burger on Ninth Ave. If you want something different, the korean style at Bon Chon on east 38th street are addictive.

Best bowl of ramen in Midtown East?

Hidechan is not consistant either. I have had some surprises there - both good and bad. But, is still probably the best of whats available in midtown east.

Gae Jang - spicy raw crab, K-town, in Manhattan

Alot of the places in Ktown have this. It never hurts to ask, but since it is a bit pricey, and always served complimentary, most places save it for their better customers/regulars.

Shula's - midtown

I would steer clear of Wolfgang's as have tried it three times and it has always been a dissapointment. A very poor attempt to immitate Luger's and, if you search the boards, you will see that many agree. But, I do agree with trying Strip House, and I would also reccomend BLT on 57th. BLT is really consistant with great aged steaks, especially the rib steak!

Korean restaurant with private dining area?

Check out Woo Lae Oak, and they have a second restaurant Bann. I'm sure that they will be able to accomodate.

Breslin tonight - recommends or recent menu specials? Thoughts on sweet breads

The pigs foot is amazing!!! If it is not on the menu, just ask. With an order of thrice cooked chips on the side, you will be well satisfied!!!

Korean Caterer in NYC

Kum Gang San uses too much MSG. Try Kang Suh http://www.kangsuh32.com/

You won't be dissapointed!!

Sushi - Hewlett/Lynbrook/Valley Stream area

Heard Takesushi on Broadway in Hewlett is good. I used to dine regularly at their location in Great Neck many years ago, and I had a great sushi meal at their Manhattan location recently.

Looking for Lox Wings in Manhattan!!

I'm looking for lox wings!! This is the wing from fish, and is super fatty and very flavorful!! So far, the only place that has it regularly is Barney Greengrass. Any other places??

Chinese Restaurant on Upper East Side for group dinner

The last few times that I had the ribs and other food at Nancy Lee's Pig Heaven, it was subpar. Although we had dined there for several years, we have since removed this place from our roster.

Old-fashioned Italian bread in Manhattan

Parisi in Nolita is your best bet. They will not dissapoint.

UES Place for Smoking Cigars?

Merchants has a great cigar lounge, and they do permit smoking. You can bring your own sticks without any hassle, and their drinks are reasonable. Lexington Bar and Books on the other hand will charge you a clipping fee if you bring your own sticks, drinks are a bit pricey, and I have found them to be pushy and pretentious. You might also want to check out club macanudo.

La Petite Auberge - Any feedback

This is one of my favorite places that my parents used to take me to, and I now take my wife and son. You will not be blown away by the food, but you will be very pleased, as it is very tasty and consistant. True "old school french". Their dover sole is fantastic, and their gran marnier souffle is the best! You will not be dissapointed!!

Where Can I Try Raw Pork?

This is available in various japanese restaurants as an "off menu" item. They may not acknowledge it as they typically only offer it to customers that they know and trust, as it is not permitted by the health dept. Yakitori totto has raw chicken as an "off-menu" item, so I would ask them if they have pork available.

Where can I buy Cel-Ray soda?

I am not sure why you are having difficulty finding cel ray, as the Food Emporium regularly stocks Dr. Browns Cel Ray. It is only available in cans, and the diet version has not been available anywhere for several years.

Great Sichuan Meal at Wa Jeal

Wajeal is the best chinese on the UES. I have tried pretty much all that exists south of 96th, and north of 57th. I have even enjoyed their non-szechuan dishes, and have been surprised how tasty and authentic they have been, and have not found any dish to be bland or tasteless. I have never been dissapointed, and have been a regular since they opened last year, and have found their food to be extremely consistant.

Babbo w/ Baby?

The first time that I took my son to Babbo, he was one (he is now three). He LOVED the black spaghetti with rock shrimp, and the pappardelle bolegnese and, of course, the grilled ribeye. They will sit you upstairs with a child, which is fine, but we always enjoy the downstairs, as it is more lively. Since then, his palette has expanded, as he devours the goose liver ravioli.

Any UES Thai restaurants as good as Saigon Grill?

Land is HORRIBLE!!! The food is of poor quality, and I just don't understand how this place is always praised. I have had many meals at Tiny Thai and have always been impressed. In fact, I am addicted to their green curry, and their Pad Thai is probably the best on the UES!!

Szechuan Chalet - finally, a reason to go to the upper east side

I have been to Szechuan Chalet a few times and, the ex Wu Liang Ye people ARE there. There is something going on with the former people that were part of Wu Liang Ye. They shut down their restaurant on 86th, and they turned up at BOTH Szechuan Chalet and Wa Jeal.

Thanksgiving Turkey Takout

I had heard about popeye's. Is it cajun spiced or deep fried?? I'm usually skeptical when fast food places offer real meals. Is it good?

Thanksgiving Turkey Takout

We are looking for a good already cooked bird for thanksgiving this year. We have had birds in the past from Citarella (GROSS!!), Turducken shipped up from Louisiana (YUMMY!!) and we are looking for something local and good!!!

Have read that Hill Country has a whole bbq'd bird.

Any suggestions???!!!

Crumbs cupcakes?

I can't understand how Crumbs stays in business yet, it is even expanding?!

They could have some of the worst baked goods that I have ever had anywhere, and their cupcakes had the greasiest frosting ever!!!

UWS - Old Hunan Park is now Lansky's???

I walked by Lansky's the first week it was open, and they had a dwarf standing at the entrance handing out menus in front of the place. It was clearly a sign of all gimmick and nothing else. Then, I tried it. Just as expected, all gimick and nothing else. I will stick with Arties for my fix of deli on the UWS.

Upper West Side Steak House

Porter House is the only true steakhouse near the UWS that is worthy of any mention.
