Nantucket - 1 night in August

If money is no object for lunch, go to The Galley (oh, sorry....they changed the name to Galley Beach), or to Toppers at the Wauwinet.

Mid Cape Cod 2014

Great reviews. Thanks! You reminded of a few places I'd just plain forgotten about. I really like Local Break as well! Glad you found it. Heading back to the Cape tonight.

Outdoor lunch, Father's Day, Metro West

Thanks everyone! I will continue to check in. Looks like Stone's Public House in Ashland has a nice outdoor patio. And it gets good reviews for pub grub. They aren't adventurous eaters, so nothing ethnic. And we went to Wayside Inn for Mother's Day! And I did look up The Cottage in Wellesley...thanks.

Outdoor lunch, Father's Day, Metro West

Looking to spring the parents from their assisted living prison on Father's Day weekend, but on Saturday. For LUNCH. They are in Framingham, but we are willing to cast a general net in all of Metro West. Outdoors sure would be nice for lunch. Yes, I already did a search, but some of the posts are a few years old, and some of the places have closed. Anyplace in Wellesley? Sudbury? I seem to remember a nice restaurant (back in the Carter administration) on a lake in Marlboro. I am sure it has been through 12 more owners since then, and it may now be a charter school for all I know. I would like to avoid the Natick Collection unless there's a really good place there. Thanks in advance for any input.

Cape Cod Restaurant Week

CCG- I guess I am counted as one of the deaths for this area. I have been so, so, so busy!!! Plus, I wish they'd break down the huge "Southern New England" category. It's just too huge to wade through all of that CT stuff. All I want is Cape & Islands (with some NB/FR and Rhode Island). And I hate when posters post "Milford restaurant" or something like that, and there's probably a Milford in every state in NE.

Yup, I agree with everything CCG said. I love Pain d'Avignon. And the Ocean House in Dennisport is wonderful.

21st Birthday on Nantucket Island

Yes, knowing when you are coming will change my answer. If you are coming real soon, then i would recommend Lola 41 (downtown) or Pazzo (center of island). I love Black Eyed Susan's (many CHers love it too) and they are opening soon, but they are BYOB, so no LI Iced Tea. That's quite a starter drink...yikes. And with all the booze in it and the Nantucket mark-up, it will cost you around $15-$18 I bet.

Best direct from farm artisan bacon and/or sausage in S.E.Mass?

CCG- (sorry, I have been off chowhound for a few months) Ok, I know this isn't local, as in you can't drive there in 30 minutes, but the sausage from Maurice Bonneau in Lisbon Falls, ME is outstanding. I have been eating his sausage since the pre-internet days when you had to bring it back in a cooler.

Looking for an up-to-date list of BYOB restaurants on the Cape and Islands

Black-Eyed Susan's in Nantucket. I worldwide imagine most of the restos in Vineyard Haven, because it's a dry town.

Nantucket Bay Scallops

Sorry...I was on my way to Chatham. Ok, so, YES! They are $19.99/pound on island. I bought some opening day and they are amazing! Deeeeelish!

Rock Harbor Grill- Orleans, Cape Cod

I was there a few weeks ago in August and it was crazy busy. I plan to go back soon now that it is September. The food was great (Mmmm....finnan haddie chowder!!) and the service professional. Maybe I will see you and Jillian there on Friday, phelana!

Need Oyster direction...

Wellfleet is an excellent use of your time! How can you research oysters and NOT go to Wellfleet to enjoy the famous eponymous bivalves? You also need to try Quivet Neck Oysters (East Dennis, MA) and check out Jonathan Smith's oyster beds. Call Fin restaurant and ask the owner, Martha Kane, about her husband's endeavor (because I don't know how to get in touch with him, Jonathan...maybe some other CHers know how).

I agree that you should check out Island Creek in Duxbury, too. C. Hamster says he thinks they were shut down though...I hadn't heard that.

Cape Cod Doldrums

Wow...you aren't kidding! Cue the crickets and the tumbleweeds for the Cape Cod area in this Southern New England forum! It is verrrrry CT-centric right now. Thanks to dordalina for the recs, but I am in the same boat as phelana and CCG...I feel like I need a passsport to go to Falmouth from the mid Cape (she probably feels the same way about coming to Chatham).

Fireflys in Framingham

You should post this in "Greater Boston Area" as that covers Metro West. PS- I always wanted to try that place (I grew up in Framingham, parents still there), but I never made it. I hope it's still open.

Yes, Del Mar or Vining's Bistro (both in Chatham). I also like the Impudent Oyster. Sounds like a really nice trip.

Nantucket in November

Downtown: Le Languedoc, Center Street Bistro, Dune, and the Boarding House will be your finer dining options. For more casual, the Brotherhood, Rose & Crown, and 12 Degrees East should all be open. Black Eyed Susan's will be closed.

Cape Cod - Sunday Brunch Recommendations

My friend and I had a fantastic brunch at Lyric (Rt 6A, Yarmouth Port) on Sunday. It's a beautiful, well laid out restaurant with great natural light. The menu was so great, I can't wait to go back and work my way through it. We both got the same thing: Eggs Benedict on grilled brioche with duck hash (instead of the Canadian bacon) for $10. No, we weren't redesigning the menu, this is an option! It was insanely delicious. Served with hash browns and fruit salad. Perfect lemony Hollandaise, too. We probably needed a side of Lipitor, but it was worth it. Our waitress was great, and I loved watching Ann, the owner, greet all of her guests. Piano player was just starting as we were leaving. Other menu items (that I can remember) that I want to go back and try: calves liver, a BLT, braised short ribs over grits, steak tips, build your own omelet, fish and chips, and the burger. The prices are insanely reasonable for a fine dining brunch experience.

Cape wine store?

The Epicure is no longer on Main St in downtown Chatham. It is a preppy clothing store now. Unless I am mistaken and the Epi is still in business, but moved.

Not really "mid-Cape", but Town Center on Rt 6 in Eastham is a great wine shop. Knowledgable and wine-passionate owners are always there.

Mid Sept trip to Hyannis

Bring your bikes. The WAVE buses have bike racks on the front. Maybe you can ride to Sconset and bus it back (or the reverse).

Mid Sept trip to Hyannis

Right in the heart of downtown Nantucket is the Greenhound bus station for the local WAVE buses. They leave every 20 or 30 minutes. $2 to Sconset. Piece of cake. You should do it. It's so worth it. Also from Greenhound you can catch the Madaket bus and get off at Sanford Farm ($1). And just grab another us back to town when ready. In Sconset you can do the walk, have lunch at Claudette's or Chanticleer (glamour lunch). Claudette's has great takeout. Check out the Beach Bar at the Summer House, but have lunch at your own risk. Gorgeous spot that is a train wreck. I want to love it do much, but it's a mismanaged mess. Then spend the day at the beach.
