Butcher in Dade/Broward??

Just spent a week in Manhattan with friends for the holidays and am looking for decent meat for decent prices(amazingly abundant in NYC) both p*blix and WD seem to have mediocre meats on their best days and higher prices than one would expect for the quality.I would prefer an independent butcher with whom I can build a relationship but not sure that exists down here-please advise

Latin Variety

ok i am back in nyc after a 2.5 year stint in Miami and have tons of great stuff i am looking for -i am willing to travel pretty much anywhere as long as the meal is worth it.

Colada??(cuban coffee
Ropa Veija?
Vaca Frita??
Nicaraguan restaurant(Fritanga)
Colombian restaurant-
Arepas(Venezulan or Colombian)

Yuca Frita and or maduros(just cause they are a side dish doesnt mean i wont travel for good ones)
chimichurri

The place with the big rooster outside on calle ocho

Hi guys , i am heading out of miami after living here for about 2 years and am looking for those last dont miss moments -I have always been intrigued by the place on calle ocho with the big red rooster in front and was wondering if anyone had experience there and if so what to order -Thanks in advance -T

Do all farmers markets in Florida stink?

I had to laugh because i hadnt been on CH in a while and yours was the first post i saw and was like -did i post this?? -the reason i am back in is i am looking for a gd fish market anywhere in the vicinity of southbeach -i just wandered for 3 hours after refusing to buy my fish at costco, then went to whole foods, which was just as embarrassing -all i am looking for was whole squid-whole foods had calamari "steaks" whatever they are - but yes from what i have seen the produce and fish down here are lacking to say the least which is shocking cause it seems like everything grows well down here and we are surrounded by water -i guess its just the market doesnt support it -back to ny i go after trying to make it work for 2.5 years

miami everything

Thanks to all for the suggestions , i have enjoyed my time here in Miami but am heading back to NYC for good. Some of my favorites down here wound up being Prima Pasta, Stevens Pizza, thought Rustica and Andiamo were both pretty bad, La Estancia Argentina in Doral,Laurenzos had some interesting stuff but was one of the dirtiest places i have ever been in my life much prefer Mimis on Dixie off 186th.

Family friendly NYC

Hi guys ,
I am writing to find a variety of family friendly/reasonable meals besides Pizza in NYC , I have been in Miami for 2 years and have been asked by a friend from NC(family of 5(2 adults 3 kids) for ideas -I was excited to send them to sapore until I found out they were closed -any type of food but same basic budget/quality would be ideal-Thanks

TOP PIZZA IN FLA

rustica is great compared to ellios(frozen boxed)but but the only thing that is close to decent ny pizza is steves(120thish and biscayne) and its a decent specimen indeed

Best Hot Fudge Sundae in New York

i havent had their sundaes but i know they make their own icecream would be suprised if the skimped on the hot fudge-they also make candy

Calamari oreganata??

ok i was searching for a recipe for this and found none so am looking for insights and guidance -i tried it anyway and it worked ok will explain what i did and then ask insights
so basically made baked stuff clams
(2 cans chopped clams with juice)( i know i know this was an experiment)
garlic(i used 5 cloves but its up to you)
3/4 of an onions
tablespoon of olive oil
basil
orengano
italian seasoning
lemon juice(one lemon)
pat of butter
breadcrumbs (enough to make it look like a paste)
then took squid bodies and stuffed them with the mixture(it was a bit of a pain so any suggestions greatly appreciated)
poured over a little olive oil and baked in the oven at 350 for about an hour-it came out pretty well -the squid was very soft(not chewy at all)good flavors etc.

observations-things to do different next time
the stuffing came out of all the bodies as they shrunk with cooking(will try to tie them or close them some how
would probably add the tentacles and maybe some baby chopped up shrimp into the oreganata mixture next time
probably add more garlic
basically i am looking guidance/insights Thanks-T

Looking for something fun/inexpensive/delish in the W. Village for tonight

hope you hada good meal last night -just wanted to throw out there a little Italian place called Sapore-its tiny but cheap and pretty sold foodwise -its italian which is everywhere in manhattan but still worth checking out

Visiting NYC with 2 teens

i vote for joes pizza on carmine st (used to be on the corner(now a chain pizza place) but JOE's now is mid block across from Fr Demo park(under construction) for food-you could also try union square always good people watching and a decent variety of food places-also a farmers market on wednesdays and saturdays

Poll on Best Pizza in Park Slope

interesting about joes i lived there about 2 years ago and the pie in brooklyn was 12bucks when the one in manhattan was selling it for 16 sorry to see they jacked it up in brooklyn as well -currently living in Miami and would pay almost anything for a joes pie:) have been to the others mentioned but my votes still on joes

Is JOEYS gone???

Hey guys , I have been in miami for about a year and used to love a place on ave b and 11thish called joey's for comfort food -but have heard rumors they closed up shop?? say it aint so-asny insights???
