Compare oysters
Has anyone been to the new oyster bar place next to Coconuts in Fort Lauderdale? I went before the new menu was introduced and disappointed to find the same menu offered at Coconuts. Was told menu was being unveiled last week.
A seriously detailed review of my 2nd trip to NOLA- 8 days of Delicious Blissful Gluttony!!!
What a fabulous review!! Many thanks- my husband and I are making our third trip there in a few weeks and we have not been to some of the places you mentioned, but will definitely make sure to include them this time!!! What about Stella! I have heard very mixed reviews...chowhounders seem to either love it or hate it.
I NEED to eat REAL BBQ in South Florida. Where do I go?
My husband is a HUGE BBQ lover- travels everywhere for it! Agreed that we are living in a BBQ wasteland for the most part...but I agree with these recommendations...Georgia Pig for chopped pork sandwiches, Tom Jenkins for ribs and we really like Sparkys Roadside BBQ in downtown Miami for Brisket sandwiches and banana pudding!
2012 South Beach Wine & Food Festival - Discounts & Tips
Hi George- the MB residents discount still applies as does the Amex presale- which is a good deal. The Best of the Best is my favorite event that I have attended for several years. Always the best chefs and wine that night! The brunch at Sea was excellent last year with Michael Schwartz- this year is Douglas Rodriguez- may attend that. I also like the new Carts on the Beach event as well as the Bobby Flay dinner at The Raleigh...decisions, decisions...
Fort Lauderdale - One Night - Where to eat?
I would also suggest casablanca cafe- you can sit outside facing the beach! Beautiful spot and the food is always good!
Looking for a restaurant with a "Florida" feel. Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood
We always take visitors to Rustic Inn- food is good and it has that great old Florida feel to it.
Good Paella caterer?
We have used El Rey de paella- I think the owners names are Dennis and Gio. They were terrific!
Chef Allen's or Timo?
Timo for sure!!! Been a consistent favorite for a while.

Foodies traveling to Tampa/ St Pete
We are heading to Tampa / St Pete area for some R&R. We are Miami foodies- love all kind of ethnic food, mom and pop places as well as higher end places. Just looking for the best food the area has to offer. After reviewing the boards, our top choices are : The Refinery, Berns, Agave, Jade Bistro, Pane Rusitca and Red Mesa.
Am I on the right track here???

Custom Cake (think Ace of Cakes) in Ft. Lauderdale area?
Susie's Scrumptious sweets. She did a Les Paul Custom Gibson Guitar with wood grain for my son that was awesome!
Thanksgivin gin NAPLES
Any recommendations for Thanksgiving lunch or early dinner in Naples?
Banh mi in Miami
Just spent 3 days in Orlando and had Banh mi for 3 lunches at 3 different restaurants- WOW!!! Colonial drive offers the best I have ever eaten in Florida. That same pho restaurant on Pines also opened on University and Sunset Strip in Sunrise- agreed that it is just ok but fills the craving and is convenient location.
Sparky's: Good Food...Good People
I was also there on Friday night and had a great time. I have eaten there before and really enjoyed the food and chatting with the owners, but the live music was a very welcome addition. I will second the love for the fried pickles and the killer banana bread pudding. This is an unexpected find in the downtown Miami area among the Latin cafeterias and ceviche places!
Best Chinese restaurant in Fort Lauderdale?
I have to agree. I have been to Silver Pond several times and never thought the food was good- but kept giving it another try since so many seem to love it. The last experience we had there about 2 weeks ago- waited over an hour for a table. Once seated, no server approached the table for about 20 mins. When someone finally did, they were very rude. About 20 mins after ordering we were told that 3 of the dishes we ordered were sold out.
3 strikes for Silver Pond in my book.

Sparky's Roadside Barbecue in Downtown Miami
Just heard about this place that opened this week on 1st or 2nd in Downtown Miami. Has anybody been there yet to check it out?
Need help finding a Hibachi style restaurant in Davie area
Nami in Pembroke Pines
Pines Blvd just west of University Dr
fort lauderdale
I also recommend Southport Raw bar for good casual lunch.
Nicer nite out- how about Blue Moon Fish co. or Charleys Crab?
I think 15th Street Fisheries is very touristy and over rated.
Thoughts on South Beach Wine and Food Festival 2010?
I went to Dolce Brunch last year and loved it. The Delano dining room is small, so it is under a 100 guests and much more intimate. This year is Michelle Bernstein hosting- should be great. Also plan on going to Dim Sum and Disco at the Setai. I went to the same event in NYC a couple of weeks ago and it was wonderful!
Need recommendations - Aventura area of Florida
il Migliore is on Miami Gardens Drive just west of Biscayne.
Always have good food for lunch and dinner
Budget concious foodie family in Naples next week
Taking advantage of the final low prices of the summer to get away for a few days in Naples. My husband and I will be there with 2 teens midweek next week. We have had many good upscale dinners in Naples over the years, but this time- we are trying to not spend a fortune on meals and find those hidden gems. After scouring the boards, I am thinking of: Mangrove Cafe, Grouper and Chips, First Watch, (Brkfst) Flacos, Randys and Pazzo Cucina. I have read many great posts for Wylds, but their website says it is closed for the summer.
Are these good choices??
HELP- Tonite Fat Tuesday- anywhere from Ft L to NMB
Meeting friends tonite to have a few drinks in honor of Fat Tuesday. We are spread out all over- Ft Lauderdale to Aventura- any suggestions for food, music, drinks - Creole or Louisiana style
closed or closing fort lauderdale area
Louie Louie is closed , but Johnny V has opened a casual place there called Smith and Jones. Went the other night and thought it was alright. Would be back for a burger.
South Beach Wine & Food Festival 09
Burger bash is just Burgers, Beer and wine. There are also always some great desserts. I have been in the past and will go again this year. Its a casual nite- good band and more protein than anyone should eat in one night!!!
Best of the Best is more formal- since it is in a ballroom this year. I have worn a dress always in the past, my husband has worn a jacket, not a suit tho.
You should probably rent a car if you are planning to do otehr sightseeing while you are down. if you do get a car, head down to the Keys for a day- its a great ride and you will see what makes it so special here. You can just pass thru Islamorada or go a bit further before you turn around- depends on how much time you have.
YOLO on Las Olas
Has anyone been for dinner? We went for drinks on Saturday and loved the atmosphere outside and want to return for dinner.
Staying at Westin Diplomat on Hollywood Beach. Any great restaurants in the area?
I am a fan of Sugar Reef- love the location and the service is always friendly.
