Best steak in the Twin Cities
I gotta agree with most people here, your top choices in general are; Manny's, Morton's, and Ruth's Chris. They all have good steaks. Manny's is the place to go to "see and be seen." Morton's probably has the best Steak House atmosphere. Ruth's Chris, maybe a combination of the two.
Manny's has a 40 oz. Ribeye they call "The Bludgeon." I opted for the smaller 20 oz. variety on my last couple of visits, with no complaints. And the desserts, I went with the Brownie Sundae, which could feed three or four people.
Ruth's Chris had an excellent Porterhouse the last time I went. I'm guessing they finish it off in the oven with a stick or two of butter.
Another place that I haven't seen mentioned yet is Rossi's, in downtown Minneapolis. Last time there I ordered the Prime Rib, and it took me a minute to figure out why it tasted so delicious and different. They grill their Prime Rib, which was new at least to me.
Was not impressed with R. Norman's, nothing special. Same with Lindeys Prime Steak House, seemed to me to be the quality of an Outback.
Look forward to hearing which places you check out, and what you think of them.
MSP: Best Reuben Sandwich
My favorite place, so far, is Cecil's Deli on Cleveland in St. Paul's Highland Park. They use the same Corned Beef that my local deli back in CT used, Hebrew National. Their coleslaw is crisp and delicious, not too sweet, and to me you gotta have a good 'slaw to go with any true deli sandwich. This isn't the fanciest sandwich out there, but when you've got great ingredients it doesn't need to be.
If you end up checking it out, I'd also recommend you try the potato knishes. If you like carbs, you can't pack more into a single serving of anything than these babies.
