Need Dinner Recommendations for Bethesda Area

Wow, way more than I'd hoped for when I posted. Thank all of you soooo much. This is going to make the trip so much more fun!

Need Dinner Recommendations for Bethesda Area

I do, actually, and did see it's just across from where we'll be. We're hoping for something a little more interesting than what's on offer there.

Need Dinner Recommendations for Bethesda Area

Absolutely! I suppose we'd like to have no more than around 25 minutes of driving each way. Not knowing the area, I hope that opens things up a bit.

Four of us will be staying in Bethesda for a few days in mid-May & are looking for evening dining recommendations for what I guess you'd call semi-upscale to upscale food. Good food is most important, more so than price or the specific cuisine. We're from SF & Boston so we're used to a wide range of cuisines & preparations. Just want it to taste good, and not be 45 minutes from where we're staying (across from Westfield Montgomery Mall at 270 & Democracy).

I did a couple of searches on Bethesda & saw delis well-represented on the lists. That'll do for lunch, so I'm hoping you folks can get us squared away for din-din.

TIA!

Looking for Restaurants w/Consistently Good Food in or Around Bethesda

Thanks. I got the impression I should come here with it, but was wondering at the lack of response. Off I go... lol

Best French Restaurants Between Saint-Sauveur & Mont Tremblant?

I'm going up from the States for the month of August and would like to hit some of the top-end French restaurants. Top-end for food, of course, as all else is secondary. I haven't been up since 1998 and my fave in Saint-Sauveur appears to have disappeared. All suggestions gratefully accepted, including patisseries, boulangeries, bistros, you name it. Thx!

Duty on wine (bringing in from US) [moved from Quebec board]

Best rule of thumb going into CA from the northeastern US is, ta-da: 100%. It's outrageous but, hey, they're very friendly when they tell you. lol

Here's the best part, though: What do you do when they tell you? I had two cases of high-end wine which I wasn't even going to drink in Quebec (I'd bought them in Maine and was just going up to Quebec City for a couple of days before returning home). They offered me two choices: 1 – Pay the 100% duty, or 2 – Leave them at the border station and pick them up on the way back. Too bad I wasn't going back the same way! I made a u-turn and skipped Quebec City. No biggie, it's still there. Who knows, I may even try again some day. You know, without the wine. ;-)
