N. Buckhead/Brookhaven - Lenox Park - Atlanta - Restaurants?

We'll be in N. Buckhead/Brookhaven, Lenox Park, in Atlanta Friday evening for dinner, Saturday brunch and Saturday evening dinner? Recommendations for great food? Where do the locals eat? Best kept secrets? Thanks so much.

Got a recipe for fried cornbread? Hoecakes?

Does anyone have a recipe for fried cornbread? It's really plain, made from white cornmeal and looks a little like pancakes...I want a recipe for the real thing, old school fried cornbread. Thanks for your help.

The signage for Dead End is really the sign for South Harbor Marina Village off of Beach Rd. The Dead End is in South Harbor Village.

Wilmington NC - Where do YOU dine?

I like Elijah's, The George, Carraba's and I haven't been to the new Ruth's Chris downtown, but every Ruth's Chris I've ever eaten at has been excellent. I always order spinach every way they serve it. Best creamed spinach ever and yummy potatoes.

Magazine St. Po Boy and Sandwich Shop

Sorry, Briox, Coliseum and Magazine Streets are indeed parallel. I'm back in North Carolina, as of Wednesday, and I didn't check my bearings. I've never lived in N.O., but I won't rule it out. Magazine St. Po Boy and Sandwich Shop is awesome and is on the corner of 1st St. and Magazine - 2368 Magazine. It's small; the food (all of it) is delicious. No tourists, just real folks. And if you have a hangover and a po boy is part of your cure, nobody will even look twice if you're not so pretty (or in your jammies). I've been a fan for seven or eight years.
Enjoy!

Restaurants you wouldn't recommmend

I LOVE Jacque-Imo's - some of the best food ever in New Orleans. No problems with service, but maybe it's because we know to go early and avoid weekends. Love their simple spinach salad with a fat oyster (anyone have the recipe?), alligator cheesecake, catfish, eggplant stuffed with seafood...and, of course, cornbread.

Jacques-Imo's Cafe Spinach Salad

Yay! Please do get the spinach salad recipe for me. Try the alligator cheesecake this time...it's so good. You're so lucky you can return so soon; I won't be back til November!

Oak Island, NC

I'm not excited about dining on Oak Island with the exception of Joseph's - yummy. Don't bother with Bella Cucina...worst fettucine alfredo I've ever had - have eaten better from a box. My favorite place: Mr. P's on Howe St., Southport. The Phipp's family is awesome! Do call for reservations especially Thurs. - Saturday. Closed on Monday. If they have the lemon/blueberry cheesecake, don't miss it. Also try crab wontons, shrimp and grits, any of the seafood and the prime rib. Excellent, courteous service, fresh, fresh food and top-notch preparation. How often do I go? I live around the corner! Burgers and prime rib sandwiches are also great. Dinner only - opens at 5.

Best local spot for breakfast - P J's - locals favorite for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Delicious lunch specials every day. Go early or late for breakfast on weekends. (At the end of W. West Street in Southport near the marina) Very affordable - kid-friendly.

Tourist mecca: Provision's at the Yacht Basin in Southport. Featured in Southern Living as one of the best seafood "dives." Their burgers, special with peel and eat shrimp, and grouper salad are very good. Can be very crowded - go early or late - opens at 11:00.

Favorites for seafood to cook at home: Clemm's on the causeway to Oak Island and Potter's at the Yacht Basin in Southport. Both families won't sell it unless it's right.

Don't miss Famous Subs and Chicken in Southport. (at the light at Howe St. next to Kerr Drugs) Excellent fried chicken!!! Buy a bucket. Real Greek salad. Call it in and pick it up. (Subs are good too)

Rosa's Deli on Howe St. in Southport. For real Yankee Deli...exellent non-greasy, not breaded eggplant parm. Variety of frozen goodies to cook at home.

If you get to Wilmington, go to Elijah's on the waterfront. Don't miss the shrimp and cheese bread, soft-shell crab (if they have it), chicken salad; it's all good! Reservations on Friday and Saturday nights.

Have fun...enjoy.

Jacques-Imo's Cafe Spinach Salad

Does anyone have the recipe for Jacques-Imo's spinach salad? It's served with your entree - very simple, just spinach, a light dressing and a fat, fried oyster. I can cook up the oysters, but how do they prepare the salad? It's very tender (maybe lightly steamed?) and the dressing may be a slightly sweet balsamic. I had a great meal there Monday night, and, in addition to the alligator cheesecake, the spinach salad was delicious.

Please share if you have the recipe or any ideas. Thanks!
