Top Chef All-Stars - Ep. #5 - 01/05/11 (Spoilers)
I think this was the worst episode of Top Chef ever! Impossible challenge. Throwing chefs into a completely different world. Two serving and one expediting and cooking! Just ridiculous! Oh gee, the guy who grew up on Asian food won! What a surprise. Sounds like a set up to eliminate specific people. Very disappointing! They could have attempted a version Dim Sum in the Top Chef kitchen and eliminated the overblown service aspect. It isn’t Top Service. It's Top Chef!

Downtown Phoenix, Dinner and the Dodge
I went to District last Friday because of the good things I read on this thread. What a disappointment! Very crowded loud bar crowd and only 3 tables full in the restaurant out of 50? The specialty drinks were great, Makers Mark Sage Mojito! With 3 tables and several staff it took way too long for service! I ordered Lobster Parpardelle with a broth. No broth, pasta stuck together, and rubber-band lobster! It killed my appetite so I substituted a dessert just to have something. While waiting I tasted my friend’s Coca-Cola Short Ribs. It tasted like a dried out pot roast. I was ready to leave hungry when my dessert arrived. Lemon cheesecake topped with lemon crème brulee with a white chocolate straw. One of the best desserts I have ever had. If you go drinks and dessert only. The next night I went to Switch on a recommendation from the bartender at my hotel. It was hip and the food was awesome!

I was there for a conference 2 years ago and I found a french bakery right off the 5 next to an Albertsons. Really great food. Take a big bag to your hotel for breakfasts and impromtu picnics on the beach. You can also eat there, it is not fancy.

OK, I read this entire board and no one mentioned Gael's appearance! She must have had a browlift, threadlift or something. I do think she looked better and younger and not stretched like some plastic surgery does! Did anyone else notice this?
- plus I would totally choose her to have dinner with. The experience and perspective she must have would be enchanting!

I totally agree with both points. I always thought from Govind's appearances over the last ten years that he was a great guy! What happened? Teams never give a accurate assessment of a chef's abilities!

Yesterday I had a dessert that reminds me of your oatmeal. Creme brulee with Chai tea spice. Decadent and delicious! Mmmmm! I'll try your healthier version;)
