Gladstones revamp?

Anybody know that "Gladstones of Malibu" is actually in Pacific Palisades? Not trying to be picky, it just leads to a story. I lived right by there and knew a bartender and bar staff. They taught me that the best meal to eat there was breakfast. No huge crowds, beautiful surf, etc. They often would refuse food from the kitchen during the evening but load up on breakfast food as they were setting up to start the day.

Why do we not have better coastal restaurants here? I think we could do better with restaurants and bars around the Santa Monica Pier and the Venice boardwalk than we do now. Should we be satisfied with West Beach Cafe or The Lobster as the best places in these already built up areas? Gladstones seems unique because it's location isn't amenable to other commercial growth. And I'm not advocating any additional coastal development. But these other areas surely could support many more and better places. Or maybe I'm just dreaming.

Best Mac n Cheese in LA

I'll second the Curious Palate. Nice place to get food from on Sunday when you can walk around the corner to the Mar Vista Farmers Market and sit down and eat and listen to the DJ. And definitely agree the sharp cheese offers a nice contrast.

What do people think of the fried macaroni and cheese at Boneyard Bistro on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks?

New job in Burbank - where's the food?

For good sub sandwiches, I like Santoros at 1423 W Burbank Blvd. Just west of the intersection of Burbank and Victory Blvds.

Best Gazpacho and/or Cold Soup?

Thanks everybody. A friend of mine read this and heartily appreciated the Velvet Turtle reference. I also like Gelsons and The Daily Grill for gazpacho. And I'm intrigued by the cruise ship's fruit soup.

Now how about Vichyssoise?

Best Gazpacho and/or Cold Soup?

On hot summer days, it seems like the only thing I want to eat is cold soup. Especially gazpacho. What place - restaurant or market - makes your favorite? Thanks.

Vancouver with a 3 year old/breakfast too

Hello. Family vacation for about a week in late June. Any thoughts on good places with a kid? Any breakfast thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Kid Friendly Restaurants in Vancouver?

Thanks for your help so far. I am really interested in any type of food (good, of course). Although cost isn't really the issue, I doubt that any of the higher end expensive restaurants, or their patrons, want kids there. We have a reasonably well-behaved 2 year old, so a place that isn't too quiet, and has high chairs or booster seats, and maybe even a kids menu (although that's not necessary) and a festive atmosphere would be great.

Kid Friendly Restaurants in Vancouver?

I'm visiting Vancouver in late August for 5 nights and was wondering if anybody had any family friendly suggestions? Thanks much in advance.

Vancouver for 2 year old

We're going to be in Vancouver for 6 days/5 nights in late August with a 2 year old. There are so many great restaurants, but which are good for kids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Thanks a lot.
