Best Donair in Halifax, NS?

It's funny, whenever I find a new favorite donair I can never remember where it came from.

I'll stick with King of Donair on Quinpool Road, they were the first.

Great Places for Fish and Chips (aka fi' n' chi')

Last week I was impressed by the fish and ships at Murphy's in Pictou, NS. One big flat piece of fresh haddock with a thin crunchy crust laid on a big but not too big pile of seasoned fries. Only $6 and change, although rolls and tartar sauce are extra.

Shaw's Landing in West Dover, NS has been really really good - but I think there's new management.

I haven't been to Ches's since late last century but it left a very favorable impression.

Need Cape Breton Help: Farmer's Markets or Good Food Shops

I agree the Herring Choker deli/bakery is an oasis. Had lunch there last week, outstanding sandwiches and cookies. I was so taken, I bought Lexie Chapman & Heather Chapman-MacRae's "Traditional Cape Breton Recipes from Sweetie's Bake Shop" for a only $6.50!

Lots of dry goods and interesting stuff in the back too.

The Margaree is heaven on earth . . . except in January.
