Kinton Ramen - First Taste
Okay, that part I really like. But sometimes I find that fatty meat (especially if the fat is chewy) is kinda gross. So, keep the broth fatty, but offer a lean meat option as a topping.
THE BEST BURGERS on the way to the COTTAGE!!!!
We ate at burger pit on the way up north last weekend. We have really liked the burgers in the past, but with the proliferation of great burger options in TO (the Priest, Holy Chuck, Stockyards, etc) now everything else doesn't meet expectations. Burger was just okay at the Pit last week. Too dry. If you grind the meat fresh daily, I would suggest not using such lean ground beef. Make it 15% to 20% fat and I think I'll love you again.
Kinton Ramen - First Taste
There should be a lean version because that's what some people prefer, and not only for health reasons. It's an easy thing to do without compromising flavour, not like asking for a lean bacon cheeseburger.
ISO Watermelon Seedlings
Urban Harvest on Sorauren has them. I hope you have better luck than I did last year. I got two watermelons, one was the size of a silver dollar and the other the size of a tennis ball. My wife laughed her a$$ off when I brought them in the house. She thought that was so funny *%$%$&^*)( :-) Then we both laughed as we tried to eat them.
With warm weather are fiddleheads/wild leeks early?
So funny. I love it. Matzah brei with bacon and ramps. Sounds amazing. It's like my house. after the motzi a few Fridays ago, we tucked into some great low and slow pork ribs. I wouldn't worry about the lightening. It's IMPOSSIBLE that whoever/whatever is responsible for lightening doesn't like ribs and bacon.
The best butter and eggs available?
Those yolks look like the real deal. I drive past there once in a while. I'll stop in next time, especially if my contraband TO sources are out. Just curious, how did you know it was a farm-gate operation? I didn't see any signage in google maps. How did you find them?
Old-fashioned and generous service @ Harbord Bakery
Yes, the brioche at Harbord is called challah (minus the dairy of course) :-)

And don't forget their smoked salmon and chopped liver. Their smoked salmon is amazing. Really smokey and buttery and you can tell that it's never been frozen. They'll only tell me that they get it from their fish delivery guy :-) Chopped liver is great too. I pick up some of both last weekend.
Chowfind : Dr. Laffa -Middle -Eastern Veg - Duferin and Finch
What was wrong with the sabich?
Chowfind : Dr. Laffa -Middle -Eastern Veg - Duferin and Finch
I still like it. Even if it has gone a bit downhill since the move, it's still the only one of its kind in town. Food was still good but I definitely preferred the other location, in terms of food and ambiance.
CH Best of the GTA for 2012 - Results
In terms of Cantonese, maybe this board is "white-centric" for a reason. The owners of Chinese restaurants do a lot to make their food inaccessible to us white folk. For the most part, they shield us from the stuff they eat by writing menus in Cantonese. Moreover, they are sometimes dismissive when we ask. They likely think that what they offer in Cantonese will be offensive to their white customers. It would be nice to have the choice. Sorry if I generalize too much, as 'm sure there are many examples where the above doesn't happen.
100 Foods to Eat Before You Die - Toronto/GTA Edition
Forgot to mention, fish tacos at GE are lightly battered and fried. Super crisp exterior and moist, fresh white fish within, topped with lime crema if I recall correctly. Delish.
100 Foods to Eat Before You Die - Toronto/GTA Edition
A more compelling statement is that the fish tacos at Grand Electric rival anything I've had in San Diego, the centre of the fish taco universe.
The Burger's Priest new location??
I'm a huge fan of BP but the religion stuff on his website is kinda weird. If he's truly "upped the ante" at the new location it will be even weirder.
Best store bought ramen noodle?
They also have Toronto Ramen at PAT on Bloor in koreatown.
Easton's Charcuterie and Prepared Foods - Kensigton Market
I'm with you. I'm happy Easton's is there so that I don't have to shlep to SLM to get the good stuff.
Easton's Charcuterie and Prepared Foods - Kensigton Market
+3. Love this place. It's all great stuff. We devoured the mortadella and the guanciale was used to make a crazy good pasta. I want to see him do really well in that location so I'll make sure to be there as much as I can.. Definitely agree that it's a great companion to Sanagan's. He seems like a really good guy but more importantly, his products are awesome.
One Night in LA: Manhattan Beach Post or Animal?
We got an 8:30 reservation at Gjelina for late next week. Perfect. Thanks.
One Night in LA: Manhattan Beach Post or Animal?
Thanks for your reply. This is our date night, leaving our 5-month old with my in-laws in Palm Springs. We're staying in Santa Monica, so neither of these places are close by. So, I think I found another option: Gjelina. Have you been? Any good?
One Night in LA: Manhattan Beach Post or Animal?
Or if neither of these work, any other suggestions?
want to try my first ever pork-bone soup, where should I go?
Owl of Minerva is one of the best in Koreatown, but just for gamjatang. Also, it's open 24 hrs.
DanDan Noodles in Toronto
The dan dan noodles at Ding Tai Fung are a different style. They are in a peanut type sauce. I far prefer the version at Chinese Traditional Buns.

About Cheese on Church
I agree, their mozzarella is amazing, especially when it's warm.
Omakase at Morimoto or Nobu 57?
Implicit criticism? And why do you think that omakaze has to focus on sushi? Do you know what the word "omakaze" means? Why just because they have celebrity owners are they necessarily bad? If they are bad, however, that's another story.
I guess you're right though, i usually hate chain restaurants and we almost never go to them. I live in a City that has thousands of restaurants, many of which are great. I've heard so much about Morimoto and Nobu that I want to try. I also have wanted to try Yasuda but we want to try a place that specializes in the cooked dishes too.
And now you're exporting two more of your chains to us, Momofuku and Eataly.
