Poll: Best Mexican Food in NYC?

I just went to La Palapa on St. Marks this past weekend and had a great meal and amazing sangria. It was not ridiculously priced either. Another good one is Dos Caminos. I know it is not "authentic" but it is good Mexican, good drinks and can be a fun night out.

Pre Theater Dinner Chinese or Italian

For Italian, I recently went to Insieme and had a very good meal. And for Chinese, Ruby Foo's is a good option, very quick and easy.

Thanksgiving in Chicago

Check out David Burke's Primehouse at the James Hotel. The restaurant is most likely open as it is in the hotel and it is an excellent steakhouse. I always have a wonderful meal when I go. I have been a handful of times. I would assume more restaurants within hotels are open rather than those that are stand-alones.

A Voce or Scarpetta?

been to both. hands down-scarpetta. a voce is not what it used to be. its chef left and the food is just not the same. you will not go wrong at scarpetta.

Opinions on the best Gastro-Pubs!

Spotted Pig is the best you can get in NYC. Great food, drink and scene.

Manhattan Pre Theater

I always like to go to Blue Fin in Times Square for pre-theater. It has lots of good seafood and is not too pricey. John's Pizza is also fun for families and has some very good pizza. There is also Carmine's which is Italian and always very crowded, but is family style dining and you have to love garlic if you go here.

Which Max Brenner is Better?

Union Square is a mob scene, I would go to the 2nd Avenue one.

UWS Brunch - inexpensive

I don't think Isabella's is that pricey. There is a wait though because it is quite popular. I would get there before or after the crowds.

Tacos & Burritos in Gramarcy area?

Dos Caminos is on 27th and Park. Good tacos, burritos, tableside guac and margaritas. Mi Cocina is close by as well.

East Midtown Mojitos???

Dos Caminos is always a good Mexican option. They have great mojitos and tableside guacamole that is very good. I go here often after work with colleagues. They have outdoor seating too, which is nice during the warmer fall days. It is on 3rd and 53rd.

moderately priced restaurant in Chelsea or West Village

Not sure how quiet it is but Vento in the Meatpacking District is a good option because it is so resonably priced. They have good pizza and pastas and a good wine list. I just recently went to Scarpetta, which was excellent, but it is definitely not moderately priced. It is on the higher end.

Just started work in SoHo: Where to chow cheaply?

there is this great sandwich place called Parisi's. Huge, delicious sandwiches. Also Cafe Duke is down there, but not super great.

Isabella's is also a good option. Nice, easy, pretty quick and reasonably priced.

favorite restaurant for about $100?

There is a restaurant Vento that is very, very reasonably priced and is good Italian. It is in the Meatpacking District which is a fun area. They have good pizza, pasta, apps and is a good scene. I recently went with a friend and had app, entree, dessert and glass of wine and the total bill was a little under $100.

Still searching for rehearsal/welcome dinner space.

Dos Caminos could be fun as Mexican places tend to have good food and really good drinks. I had my rehearsal dinner at Remi. They have a private room and the food was fantastic. They also have access to an outdoor space, which is nice when the weather is good. I also went to a rehearsal dinner at Brasserie 9 1/2. They have a private room too.

Quick Lunch spot near Gramercy Park

while the shack shake is good, it is definitely not a quick lunch. wildwood is good bbq and they have pretty fast service for lunch, haru for sushi, angelo & maxie's for steaks/burgers and they have outdoor seating, blue water grill for seafood/lightlunch and they have outdoor seating as well, via emilia for italian.

The House - has anybody been?

I have been and it is super cute. I ate in the downstairs part because we were walk-ins. There is an upstairs part too and you need to make a reservation for that area. It is small, but not so small that you are sitting on top of one another and listening in to the person next to you. The food was very good and the service was very professional. It is a place definitely worth trying.

Staying at the James Hotel, Primehouse a good dinner option?

I am traveling to Chicago soon and am staying at the James Hotel. I have heard raves about the steakhouse in the hotel, Primehouse. I have been to the Primehouse in New York, and really enjoy it, but I don't know if they are similar and what the general consensus is. Would love to know about this place and other steakhouse recommendation as I am in town for only 2 nights.

Lunch suggestions near gramercy park?

You have picked a great area to eat at. There are loads of great restaurants to choose from:

Wildwood- BBQ. It is new and had a great menu, reasonably priced
Houstons- Up on 27th, always a solid lunch option
Blue Water grill- Great scene, a NYC staple that serves good food. Not all seafood, lots of different options
Union Square Cafe- Need a reservation as this is a very popular spot
Haru- Good sushi, fast service
Via Emilia- Very inexpensive Italian, but very good
Dos Caminos- Mexican with good tableside guac

Steakhouse Recommendation - Casual

I really enjoyed my experience at Primehouse NY. They have good steaks and sides. Their desserts are fantastic as well. Others I would recommend, BLT Prime, Ben & Jack's, Old Homestead and Luger's. I went to Old Homestead recently and even though it has an old-world feel, the steaks were delicious. You cannot go wrong with any of these options.

12 trainees "quintessential NYC dinner"?

There is a restaurant in Union Square called Blue Water Grill. It has been around for forever and I think Sex and City was filmed there at one point. Good seafood and great scene as it is in the middle on Union Square. Not sure of pricing though. May be slightly higher than you want to spend.

Food near Financial District

I have been to Adrienne's pizza and they have a great pie. A definite must try. There is also a bar right next door to it called Ulysee's that is a lot of fun.

Burger recos please (NOT shake shack)

You will never believe it, but Lure Fishbar downtown has the best burger I have ever had. It is like the In-And-Out burger, but better if that can be. It is mostly a seafood restaurant, so it is a little strange that they have such an amazing burger.

I think there is a Dos Caminos (Mexican) near there. That is always good for a fun drink, good guac and tacos. Very reasonably priced too.

Not sure of the neighborhood you are looking at but, Ocean Grill, Sarabeth's, Five Points, Pastis and Stanton Social are good options.
