Roncesvalles area
Also a restaurant (I believe) called "The Greek Spot" up near Howard Park, right beside Sweet Thrills.
Also thought the fish store (De La Mer I think it is called) is a great addition.
Titanium Spork
No I didn't have any customs charges added on. Yes you are right shipping isn't cheap, for my items it was $5.99, and I'm not sure how they charge for it ie weight/# of items. Pretty sure I just went with the standard shipping as well.
Also these sporks are incredibly light, so I don't think weight will be an issue if you're getting a few.
Titanium Spork
thinkgeek has them for sale at $8.99. Picked one up when I was ordering a couple other doodads.
Recipe for Halifax donairs (split from Ontario board)
Ingredients look about right, but haven't tried this. Was forwarded to me from an East Coast friend ages ago and haven't gotten around to making it.

knife sharpening
Be sure you have a look at the websites before you go, maybe call. A bread knife is pretty hard to sharpen especially a serrated knife, and from my look at both sites they specialize in Japanese knifes and you're not gonna see anything close to a 'bread' knife for sale. You will however find some knives that are crazy sharp and pretty much cut anything.
2011 Food and Resto CLOSINGS
Brad's on Roncesvalles has closed up. On the plus side a new restaurant called 'The Ace' is opening a few blocks south fairly soon. They have a menu up on the door.
New Burger Joint @ Yonge & St. Clair - BYO Artery widener!
Well you order a double burger with fresh ground beef (think 80/20 min fat, bacon, cheese, and caramelized onions) and don't think its gonna be greasy?
Went to today, good burger, loved the flavour. I only had a cheeseburger with onions, mustard and ketchup with fries. Only wish they had relish, as a condiment. (what is so wrong with it on a burger? BP guy is ridiculous about it, hint you're not in the US anymore).
Liked the fries but could of done with a little less herb flavouring, but that's just me. They were nice and crispy and really liked them.
I'm a great fan of gridled burgers with fresh meat, given a choice I'd prefer Burger Priest but this is great alternative if you are sick of charbroiled frozen patties. Actually there is no choice if your option is frozen.
turkey brining bags
don't know if it's handy for you but Williams and Sonoma also have them

YOU GOTTA GO TO BARQUE FOR BBQ!
Glad you liked it ylsf, I've had the sampler platter and tend to order to ribs when i'm eating in. I do get a side of the brisket though as i really enjoy it.
Purslane in TO?
Pretty sure I saw some yesterday at the Sorauren Farmers Market, so maybe check some farmers markets in your area.
Cherry Coke in Brampton/Mississauga area?
I've found it in random spots, mostly in the Toronto area. There is a corner store at Burnhamthorpe and Martin Grove that frequently has it. Little out of you requested area but if you're desperate it's not too far away.
Best Thing You Ever Ate - Toronto
The one and only time i've been to Bymark. The nightly special was filet mignon with an oxtail ravioli. It was my first time eating oxtail, but that little side for the steak was the best thing I've had in the 10 years i've lived in Toronto. The entire meal was great but that piece of ravioli is the 'Best Thing I've Ever Eaten-Toronto'. I dream of braised beef tasting that good again.

Elle m'a dit on Baldwin
I've been once with a friend who's been several times and we both love it, prices are pretty reasonable and food is well done.
http://ellemadit.com/ is the website but the menu changes pretty regularly, was a bit different than what is shown from when I went about two weeks ago. Nothing drastic mind you but some of the dishes were mixed and a couple different ones. None over the $20 price point mentioned above though. I really enjoyed the tarte flambée, and could of eaten a couple of them. For one of the first time ever I actually enjoyed a dish with sauerkraut in it, mind you the various pork products certainly help. My group also had the fish plate and the meat plate, both good. They also have a few specials every night.
Also wanted to add this as well

New BBQ joint coming to Roncesvalles.
I would also recommend the 'Miami Ribs' for an app. Their brisket, I thought was amazingly well done, I would like to see a sauce that you could dip it in similar to what you'd find at Muellers in TX, but that's just splitting hairs. Found the rub that they use on the ribs(pork) was very black peppery, but I love black pepper so not an issue for me. I've been twice and will be back as many times as possible, til the inevitable review comes out and spoils it as a 'hood spot.
Bigabaldi's NY-style pizza
NOW review, they mention a request to deliver outside their usual area.

Looking for Korean Market in Oakville/Missisauga
PAT has a store at 333 Dundas St. East, should be able to bet anything you need there.
New Five Guys Burgers Location coming soon!
In N Out is opening in the Dallas area, so never say never.
Duggan's or Buster Rhino's ribs - Please help me choose.
or yes you may be disappointed much like I was after the drive from TO. I have no problem telling people to avoid the drive to Paris ON to avoid the horrible meal three of us and I had. Hello Microwave.
5 Guys coming to Erin Mills Town Centre
Glad you enjoyed it Caper, I'm in the US next week so i'll cross it off my list for down there and stick with another favorite or two.
Website still has it listed as coming soon, so no menu but hours posted as 11am-10pm.
5 Guys coming to Erin Mills Town Centre
Thanks Caper3375, haven't been able to get to the area to check it out personally. Guess I have lunch plans for a day next week now.
Ici Bistro... also over there
A group of us sadly didn't get around to calling for a reservation prior to the review in the globe last weekend(maybe previous one) and there was nothing available for quite some time. We were looking for a reservation this past Tuesday.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your meal.
5 Guys coming to Erin Mills Town Centre
trying to get a co-worker to do a drive by for me for an update. Also noticed that there is a location in Woodbridge going up as well.
5 Guys coming to Erin Mills Town Centre
Went to the 5 fellows spot in San Diego about a month a go for the first time, and really liked it, had the burger of course and the cajun fries(note: hotel room smelled like said fries for the rest of the night), but loved them both.
My biggest problem with them coming to TO is what does a person have to do to get a great burger(and I think this is) in the western side of TO? Love the cow at Burger Priest, but it's a bit of a drive(especially with the construction in TO these days). I'm thinking a location around Bloor and Dundas would be ideal. :)

Mad Mexican on Jane. Open Yet?

Food Cart news in Toronto Star.
Kagemusha you raise a valid point, but it also begs the question of why the city felt the need to "over" regulate the program to begin with.
