Best Restaurants for a Serious Foodie in Charleston, SC
Tristan in the French Quarter Hotel on Church St., 1/2 block from the Market. Upscale with smaller portions. They have had a 3 course lunch special for $20.00 that is outstanding.
Charleston, SC - fine dining for birthday
I have been to Tristan in the French Quarter Inn on Church St (a couple of doors down from the market). I have been for lunch and dinner and it has always been excellent.
Restaurants @ Hilton Head & Savannah
Have been going to HHI for 36 years. Some of our current higher end favorites are as follows;
211 Park in the Park Plaza cewnter just outside the ea Pines Main Gate. Great food with a wine list to match.
Michael Anthony's in Orleans Plaza on New Orleans Rd. Great food (mostly Italian & seafood) and great service.
Red Fish on Palmetto Bay Road. Outstanding food and service. They have a retail wine shop attached where you can purchase wine @ retail for your dinner.
Sunrise Cafe in the Palmetto Bay Marina (under the Cross Island Exp) at the end of Palmetto Bay road is a great local place for breakfast..
British Open Pub in Wexford Shopping center great for lunch or weekend brunch.
Hope you enjoy that special place.
Ladies Lunch in Hilton Head, SC
The Sweet Grass Grille (former location of Charlies) in Plantation Center, near Palmetto Dunes entrance, has been quite good and just might be what you are looking for.
Ladies Lunch in Hilton Head, SC
Just returned from HHI. The Waterway Cafe (formerly Cafe Europa) is closed until the middle of February.
Visiting Charleston, SC in September
A place not mentioned in the Charleston threads but should be is Tristan in the French Quarter Inn @ 55 S. Market St., a couple of doors south of the Market. Was there two weeks ago for lunch and it was excellent. They have a three course lunch deal for $20.00 which lets you order from the main menu. I had a sweetbreads app which was terrific. I also had a dessert of three sorbets which was also excellent. Was there for the Sunday Jazz Brunch last year which was also memorable.
Hilton Head, SC, restaurants
We have been going to HHI in August for 35 years and will be on the island in August for a couple of weeks this year as well. Our current favorites are as follows
Red Fish...,higher end but worth it.
Wild Wing Cafe... noisy and chaotic but the wings are very good
Charlie's... on New Orleans Road, solid and reliable for lunch or dinner
CQ''s.... in Harbourtown, expensive but also worth it.
Sunrise Cafe for breakkfast
Jump & Phil's ...in HH Plaza near the Sea Pines gate, great local place, inexpensive and their weekly Roast Beef special is good and is a real bargain
We have had excellent lunches at the previously mentioned Sea Grass Grill and the Black Marlin.
Mellow Mushroom in Park Plaza... Yes it is a chain but the pizza is good and it is great for kids.
The Boathouse II on Squire Pope Road on the way to Hudson's is on the Intercoastal Waterway and is fun for dinner or brunch.
Enjoy your stay at this special place!!
Bamboo Grille, Basking Ridge (NJ)
I live in Basking Ridge and have been to the Bamboo Grille many times. I have found the food to be consistenly very good. I especially enjoy their Thai Pot Sticker Appetizer. Another rec in the area (about 1/2 mile from the BG) is the newly opened Due Terre in Bernardsville on RT 202 South, across from the Kings Shopping Center. Location used to house Eccoqui. Have only been for lunch so far, but it was excellent. Food and service were some of the best in the area.
Fine Dining in Hilton Head and Savannah?
I strongly second the suggestion of Charlies. I have been there for dinner many times in both their old and new locations. It is consistently the best on the Island. The menu is hand printed daily and based on the ingredients available that day. I have been going to HHI for 35 years and it is my favorite. I also like The Rendevous in the Market Place and Stripes across from Park Plaza.
BBQ Caterer needed Central Jersey
We used CT's Barbecue for a party at my daughter's house last year and were very pleased with the results. The owner is a charming guy. They brought a trailer with a smoker to the location and did a whole pig for us as well as ribs, barbecue and all the fixin's. Enjoyed by eveyone at a reasonable price CT's is located at 920 Hamilton St., Somerset, NJ 732-418-8889
