Any good Vietnamese food in north broward or south palm beach county?

I'm craving some traditional Pho vietnames soup- anyone tried the Saigon restaurant in North Broward? Any other recommendations for soup?

Going to Palm Beach soon - recommendations?

If you want good deli take out for a day trip, come south on 95 to the Hillborough and order a corned beef from the Pickle Barrel- you can't go wrong with any of their New York style sandwiches and of course they have the Black and White cookies.

Going to Palm Beach soon - recommendations?

Hi Luci! I live in Deerfield Beach but the only places I go in Palm or West Palm is your hotel's L'Escalier at the Florentine Room. You can't go wrong- if I were staying there, I'd love to eat there at least every other night. Also try L'Europe- though it sort of runs hot and cold- ask the hotel desk how it has been lately. Of course you can not go wrong with Cafe Boulud (as in Chef Daniel)- I love the bar- or you can sit outside on the terrace. Three perfect courses for $35 is a great value for this level of French cuisine. Check out all 3 on line and book now because the snowbirds are in town.

I'm a Maryland girl and love the Blue Crab Cakes at Bistro Ten Zero One, the West Palm's Marriot.

Local seafood in Sarasota area?

I mvoed away from Sarasota almost two years ago and the seafood I miss the most I had at Rosebud in Osprey. It's not a chain and there sea food is fresh, They have the best pecan crusted grouper I've ever had and I've eaten at just about every fine restaurant in Sarasota.

Help- vacation ideas

Midasgold, I am well aware that Herzog wines have various accolades, but to purchase a 2003 reserve chardonnay on the shelf at what is considered one of the best kosher supermarkets in Aventura, Florida...only to decant more than one bottle that had the aroma of vinegar. Considering that this was not my only experience- purchases were made at two other well known liquor stores (Crowne) in other areas of Miami, and had the same results- so it would be appear that if could be more common than not. Having to buy only kosher wines, I chose to forego Herzog products and buy other brands, and happily, have had no problems with quality, spoilage, etc. Bought Yarden at the same stores I typically frequent- no problems at all-and continue to see dusty/old vintage bottles of BH on the shelf, again, at numerous locations- if you look, you will find the same thing. This is not to impugn the fact they have some good wines and accolades in Wine Spectator.

Help- vacation ideas

I've been there (Oxnard) and I wouldn't go so far as your friend. Yawn. The major beef I have with Herzog is the fact it would seem, that they do NOT manage or care about quality control as far as shelf life of their product. It was recommended by a friend, so the next few times I happened by a fine liquor store, or even a kosher wine shop- I purchased a couple of bottles.
A couple of reserves, I recall one was Russian River- and 4 champagnes and 6 out of 8 were undrinkable. I should have noted the color on one through the glass- it was so dark when we decanted it and it stank! The champagnes were probably bad two years prior or longer- it was astonishing. I took the wine back to the store and got my money back on those 3! The two that were not 'spoiled' were drinkable, but lousy!! I'd like to give a good review, but am not so wealthy that I'll throw money after anything Herzog or related again and I read the fine print. Perhaps the wine shops overbuy on this and it doesn't move fast at all or appear to sell very welll, because it is just to old too drink. I have never had this happen with other wines I frequently buy- NEVER.

Best take out Italian in Plantation/Sunrise?

Still relatively new here? We order take out Italian at least once a week.

Who in the Plantation Sunrise area, for example, the best Calamari, Eggplant Rolotini, and even Pizza?

Kosher wine tastings

We've all heard that new newer kosher wines want to be known as fine wines, like any other, that just 'happen to be kosher'.

So why don't we see more tastings other than in Kosher stores. Publix, ABC, etc, have tastings everytime you walk in, and you always buy some wine. You never see Kosher wines being promoted. Also, no advertising? It just seems if the owners of the kosher wine companies want to become more mainstream, and compete on a level playing field, they would put their money where their mouth is. Yet, you occasionally all you see is an orthodox Jew sitting in at Kosher world promoting a wine, when Publix is cleaning up with wine tastings every day of some wine that is not near the quality, but carts are getting full as a result of a few hours of someones time.

I only say this because I hear they want to break ouf of the kosher market and be known as a fine wine like any other, yet I see no effort being made in any non-Kosher markets.

Anyone an Orlando Native?

Hi,

I'm new to this website and having a blast reading up on my hometown and the recommendations of the current residents- most recently for bagels, italian food, deli's etc.

Just wondered if anyone recalls any of the restaurants I recall the most fondly, not only because we went often, but because the food was good!

Meiner's Pit Barbeque
Johnny's Pizza Palace (age 4 through post Grad!) initially I think we went to one on Colonial Drive? but for years, it was weekly dinners at the Lake Underhill location- the family that owned it saw me grow up
Ronnie's Deli (Colonial Drive) birthday celebrations for the kids
Barney's Steak House
La Cantina (near Herndon Airport)
Park Plaza (Park Avenue, WP)
The House of Beef (off the OBT)

After graduating UF, I lived in Longwood, Altamonte, Orlando, Winter Park, etc.

My first job after graduating was for an ad agency owned by the Heller family on Park Avenue in WP. I used to walk a block of so to this NY style deli and take my sandwich to the park. To this day, I have never had stacked sandwiches and home made slaws and sides to compare. The first Melting Pot I ever experienced was on Park Avenue. The first Salt Bagel I ever had as in Orlando at a New York owned bagel company- ever since then, I have been searching for that same Salt bagel.

After I left Orlando, I lived in seven states. I've eaten all over, but I still cannot find any pizza as good as what I ate ever week of my life at Johnny's Pizza Palace. I hope the family is well and the restaurant survived, or is in good hands if it was sold.

I would love to hear from anyone that grew up in Orlando. I was there from 1959-1980- the moved back for a couple of years in the mid 80's. I hear lots of good restaurant recommendations from my sister, who lives in Casselberry.

I hope to hear from someone soon! I enjoy reading all of your comments!

It's always the rush before holidays

It just makes me chuckle that every pre-holiday kosher holiday period, including the one coming up, the sales reps spend a maddening 2-3 days in the market after no action, getting signs up and displays up. which for all purposes, is only due to the big cheese coming down to see how it is being managed?

This goes on 3-4m times a wear. Much of the rest of the time, the suppier goes nowhere- I've seen it first hand.

Special occasion dinners in Tampa

Bern's. Was there for the first time in 1986 and it's still no. 1 IMO.

Best Bagels (SoFla)

It's 10PM at night and I wish I could run out to buy bagels! I love NY bagels, it's so hard to find anything that really tastes as good. Does Sage have salt bagels?

Sarah's Tent - Bankrupcy?

They definitely filed Chapter 11 but will stay open althought various vendors will halt business relationships.

I'm not sure about the restaurant which is in a separate location but run by the same people.

Looking for Kosher Caterers, Aventura - FL

There are multiple web sites for kosher products in this area, I suggest looking these up.

I don't think any of those you mention cater. You can order meals for large groups from Glatt's Kosher. They have menus for all types of celebrations.

TOP PIZZA IN FLA

Don't like the charred, burnt taste anymore than burnt toast and the toppings didn't make up for it. I've only had take out but both times, it was just awful.

TOP PIZZA IN FLA

net mover- ha ha! Sometimes Pizza is better! Except frozen pizza! Fresh good pizza is SO good, no one will ever come up with a frozen version real Pizza lovers will like. Thank God for take out!
Where is the best pizza in the Plantation area- have only tried ACF Pizza and Pizzatime.

TOP PIZZA IN FLA

We didn't like Anthony's either. We ordered it to go- we just moved here and someone recommended it. The crust was burnt, it hardly had any cheese or sauce. We feel like we paid $18.00 for about $1 worth of food!

Best Crab house in Miami, Ft Lauderdale even Palm Beach vicinity

Does Riggins have steamed blue crabs? What size and where from? I'm starting to get encouraged.. Love soft shells but only if they are pan sauteed and not fried.

Best Crab house in Miami, Ft Lauderdale even Palm Beach vicinity

Price's Seafood, Water Street in Havre De Grace, Maryland. By far, the best. Born in MD, and lived in DE as well. I moved back to South Florida and there are no restaurants with good blue crabs as of yet. Sambo's in DE is good too.

Anniversary Dinner Orlando

Have you been to Seasons 52? My sister and her husband had dinner there on their 25th anniversary earlier this year in Orlando. They liked the atmosphere and the food is great- I've eaten at the Atlanta location and loved it.
