l don't think l ever got one with cheese, and the times l've been there the dough has been nice and crispy on the inside, and did get soggy at the bottom, but only after a while. Understandable, too, as it's a big, juicy burger, dripping directly down into an enclosed bun. Just gotta eat it quicker, l guess! |

Oh, sorry: l was responding to sugartoof. But l totally agree: l think Korzo does that "big burger" style pretty well. l've only been to the one in the EV; Steven, who put the menu together, served us [my teenage son and me] the first couple of times, sitting down to chat with us as it was early and slow. Super nice guy, and he assured us that if we ordered medium rare, it would come out medium rare. He wasn't lying: the burgers were cooked perfectly. Great selection of obscure imported beers, too. |

Huh! l've been there three or four times, and never had that happen. l like the langos, though not as much as a potato roll, maybe. |
|

l know what you mean, but l'd say it's more in the burger family, because of the way the meat itself is prepared: just seasoned ground beef, not mushed up. When l take a bite, it screams "hamburger!" |

Have you tried Korzo and Whitman's? Korzo has the added benefit of having excellent imported beers and, most importantly, fried haluszky, which are absolutely delicious and addictive; l think they're the world's greatest bar snack. |

l've only been to BAD once, and had eggs, which were tremendously meh, and came out with way undercooked bacon [about which the waiter was very gracious and accommodating, bringing me out another order], so l can't speak to the quality of the burgers; l'll give it a shot for that soon. Have you tried Black Market, next to Niagara? Good, beefy burgers with a really nice crust [tho borderline over-seasoned]; definitely worth a visit. |

There's a few great burgers in the EV: Korzo Haus, Black Market, Whitman's, Brindle Room [this is a bit more chi-chi, admittedly, but it's excellent]. l know that all of these are not exactly pubs or pub burgers, but they're damn good. |

Aux Epices, New Malaysian in C'town: anyone try it yet? The plot thickens! l'll definitely give it a try. |

Aux Epices, New Malaysian in C'town: anyone try it yet? Hahaah!!! l've totally been blind to that this whole time. |

My notes on eating 28 skewers at Yakitori Totto in one sitting Wow, great review! l'll definitely head up there soon. lnteresting note about the beef tongue: there was a very short-lived Korean yakitori place on Ludlow a few years back; l went there once and ordered a beef tongue skewer, expecting a meltingly tender bit of meat. l got, instead, exactly what you described: bits of tough meat, damn near inedible. l asked the server if this was tongue; he assured me it was. l recommended that he walk half a block up to Katz's, to learn what tongue could be like. |

Best Chinese Restaurant in Chinatown Ah, what an excellent compendium! Thanks so much, scoopgG! |

l thought chowhound was all about everybody agreeing with everybody else on everything, all the time? Boy, am l in the wrong place! ;^) |

Lau, thank you so much for letting me know what these dishes are called! l know what l like, and l always point to them on the carts, but until now l've never known the names of them. Pai gwat is an especial favorite of mine. l echo fourunder's sentiments: your posts and comments are always informative and most appreciated! |

Just had their brisket and sweet potatoes about two hours ago: delicious, again. l've never been happier to have been proven wrong. |

Pre-rock show dinner near BB King's? l was thinking about bypassing the immediate neighborhood, and was considering the Breslin [that lamb burger and thrice etc. is SO good!]; it's now definitely at the top of the list. |

Pre-rock show dinner near BB King's? Thanks for the tip! Yeah, l guess it's general admission for us; should be a great show! |

|
Pre-rock show dinner near BB King's? l'm pretty sure we've got reserved seats; moderate to me [as l am a cheapskate] is getting out at $125 or below incl. t/t, with perhaps one drink each. Doors are at 7, showtime at 8. |

l'm so happy l was turned on to them! |

Pre-rock show dinner near BB King's? A friend is treating me with a ticket to the Moving Sidewalks [ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons' first band] at BB King's this Saturday; l'm returning the favor by treating dinner. Anything good and moderately-priced in that area? Going to 9th Ave wouldn't be a problem. |

Yes; even though it's not on the menu, they were totally cool about it. |

Spicy Village (Formerly He Nan Flavor) – Delicious Henan Food In Chinatown Yes, they are very nice there; l can't envision it being a problem. Just got a delivery at work: beef pancake and soup dumplings...yum! |

About two weeks ago, l went to Blue Ribbon izakaya late night after work; l was in a chirashi mood, for some reason. l hadn't had it in a very long while, and l had a hankerin'. Only one problem: there's no chirashi on the menu [which l always thought was kinda odd]. Since l'm a regular there, and l get along very well with the staff, l didn't think l'd be too out of line if l requested that one be made for me...it's just sashimi over a bowl of rice, right? Well! Not only was my request cheerfully fulfilled with no problem, l was presented with something absolutely fabulous, with one item in particular that really lit up my taste buds: in addition to relatively standard [very high-quality] items like salmon, tuna, and snapper, there was something in the bowl that l didn't recognize, and that was not mentioned by my server. l wasn't quite sure what they were, and the restaurant's low lighting didn't help, but they looked like little baby squid, each about an inch and a half long. l popped one in my mouth, and was amazed: very, very tender and tasty squid on the outside, but the inside was something else entirely. The best way l can describe it is like a burst of lobster roe, a very similar flavor, absolutely delicious. l asked my server what these were; she apologised that she didn't realize that the dish had included them: hotaru ika, firefly squid. Apparently these little guys, when alive, are bioluminescent. They are certainly very interesting in life and on the palate! l'm not sure if they're on the menu all the time; you should definitely ask for them if you go. |

Spicy Village (Formerly He Nan Flavor) – Delicious Henan Food In Chinatown The big tray chicken is great, but l totally agree: they should definitely put more potatoes in, because they're SO GOOD. Maybe they would if requested? |
