Tomato Pie in Philly Burbs?

Conshohcken Italian Bakery tomato pie is the best!

Pudge's in Kulpsville

I haven't been on Chowhound in forever ( not sure why). Anyway, I logged in because I wanted to post about Pudge's. I love Pudge's in Blue Bell. I just had steaks from there last week. I was up in Lansdale/Kulpsville today and was excited to try the new Pudge's. The sandwich was not good. The rolls were not the same at all. I think they are a mass produced brand. It was so spongy. bec The sandwich was falling apart. The main ingredients were good, but they are definitely not using the same rolls I know and love.

Good bakeries in the burbs?

Night Kitchen is the best bakery near us (Chestnut Hill) . Their Mocha Mousse and lemon curd are so incredible that my family drives hours to get their cakes there.

Tomato Pie in Philly Burbs?

The BEST tomato pie in the area and close to King of Prussia is Conshohocken Italian Bakery! I prefer it to all others mentioned here.

Beijing Homestyle in Manayunk

I went here today! I never even knew it was there. It was delicious! I had the dumplings also, and I agree they were good, not the best in the world, but everything else was outstanding. I had pork and the string bean appetizer was amazing! A definite go back to spot!

Restaurant suggestion near the Comcast Center?

Wow?? Definitely not take kids to Parc or Tinto? That's odd. Parc is a french bistro and not formal at all. If they are picky eaters, Tinto might not work, but otherwise, I don't get that comment at all! Do you have children? That is a shame you feel that way. I wouldn't take my youngest 2 children to Le Bec Fin yet because of price and length of meal, but other than that, I cannot think of a restaurant in the city where I wouldn't take them.

Where to get the Best Burgers in Montgomery County PA?

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on Yo Dogs too. All of my kids have liked the dogs when they have gone with friends, but I have not been. I second that Jack Frost in Glenside in great, but they are closed for the winter.

It's in Conshohocken, but I finally tried the infamous burger at stonerose and was blown away. Seriously, I have no idea how they make a burger taste that good, but it was unreal. It's worth a visit if you like a really good burger.

Sunday Brunch at Lacroix for Valentine's Day - Wise Move or Mistake?

There should be no concern about going to brunch at Lacroix on a holiday as long as you ensure that you will be seated in the main dining room as usual. They are always full and there should be no issues.

Chestnut Hill Rehearsal Dinner help!

I just saw this thread on Wine Thief if you want a little more info...enjoy!

Chestnut Hill Rehearsal Dinner help!

Oh LOVE McMenamins too. I personally wouldn't do it for a rehearsal dinner because it's just a bar to me, but if you are looking fun casual and don't care. It's fun and good food.

Chestnut Hill Rehearsal Dinner help!

The best place in the area is definitely the wine thief. It is small but they would certainly accommodate you. They are great because they have a large vegetarian selection also and with people with limited palettes their comfort foods would probably be embraced. Wine prices are reasonable comparable to the area also.

Solaris is horrible. Earth Bread and Brew is good, but the selection is so limited. It is really flat breads and beer. Cin Cin is very good, but can get pricey very quickly. I find Cake to be inconsistent and Chestnut Hill hotel to be bar food at best.

Replacement for Cresheim Cottage

Wow not the conversation I expected when I opened this thread! Back to the original topic.... I agree I have been perplexed by the lack of activity there. License or not - I have seen nothing happening there at all to indicate intent. That being said, the owner of Wine Thief told me that was not the case and that there was work taking place inside and it was just not visible because of the access from the rear, so who knows. Hokka Hokka was certainly successful operating in the short term while waiting for their license and while not as profitable as a BYO, I think it is a nice opportunity to work out the kinks of an opening that can kill a restaurants early reputation otherwise...

Where can I get raw whole ducks in Philly or suburbs? (moved from PA board)

Den is right - Dave's in Flourtown farmer's market. has the best poultry around. I purchase all of my poultry, eggs and milk from him. I also buy duck there. Everything is fresh kill so it will also keep longer than anything you purchase at a regular store. I get to KOP on the turnpike in 15 mins. Just get off at Fort Washington exit of turnpike to 309 S to Flourtown exit and take Haws lane to Bethlehem pike turn left and its on your left.

I swear Den - you and I must trip over each other and not even know it from the sound of it....

Where are you getting your Turkey's from?

Always from Flourtown's farmers market ( Dave's Poultry)- 36 hour fresh Kill from Lancaster farms

All u can eat sushi

Haven't been to any of these. A friend of mine that has the WORST taste in the world likes Minado..not being judgmental...just saying. Craig Laban really liked Aki if my memory serves me correctly.

Grass-fed beef

The market has been open at the bottom of Chestnut Hill, but I believe it closes at the end of this month.

Best Cheesesteak in Philly

Den is right! Search cheesesteak and you will find a ton of opinions! Or skip it and go to Tony Luke's or John's Roast Pork. Definitely do not go to geno's!

New restaurants in Ambler

Just heard a new cafe is opening on Main Street - Amy's Cafe starting beakfasts and lunches in October!!!

From the Boot in Ambler - happily reporting back!

In the very immediate area and for Italian, I hear Roberto's is very good. Again, I prefer to stay in for Italian.

Point well taken. I apologize if I offended. I wasn't trying to be petty. I was simply trying to point out that it is not excellent food. I understand your points about the children. I have three small children. We dine out very often. I prefer louder places, but my children eat exotic food so we have more options available to us fortunately.

Need Brunch Option Close to Willow Grove/Horsham

Welcome to my world! Always looking for brunch. Good to know about brunch at Na Brasa, but haven't heard great things. Do you like it?

Main Line Chowhounds! Avril BYOB opening in Bala Cynwyd tonite!

Problem is restuarants like Avril, getting bad reviews are packed. How do they get the message their is a problem? And listen to some of the posts, "we'll probably give it another hot." We're so desperate that we keep going back for more....

Drafting Room Brunch

That was actually what started my quest. The William Penn Inn was THE ONLY brunch anyone in my area recommended! I really wish Alison Two would serve brunch. I'm really shocked she doesn't! I'm sure her bloody marys would be "sin"ful!

Drafting Room Brunch

LOL! I am the worst!! Sorry guys, I type so fast, who knows what I am saying half the time!

Two New Restaurants in Bryn Mawr

So glad to read Delucacheesemonger's review. Went today, wanted to love it. I wanted so, so badly to love it. I didn't, I couldn't. I could have written the EXACT same review, to the letter. I will give a shout out to the Tinto Margarita...interesting and tasty as was the sangria, which I do usually care for. It was not at all sweet. Such a bummer. Octopus was really inedible...

Yes they have a bar. Personally I don't get it, but then again, I'm Italian. (I'm also have trouble with my punctuation tonight LOL!) The food is mediocre at best. The don't serve a piece of veal that isn't breaded...need I say more? Its fine to take the family that has low food standards in a town with few options (like Lafayette Hill), but Ambler has some real nice places now. I'm not saying there may not be a good sandwich, but the entrees are not even a B- IMHO.

Drafting Room Brunch

Thank you! I have to remember to check back after I post! I've had breakfast at Zake's, but never brunch. It is very tight in there and I thoght my omlette was just OK, but everyone else loves it! I guess I should give it another shot sometime.

I'm not a big fan of buffets either, but I am so frustrated by the lack of bruch option sin our area!!

Drafting Room Brunch

Has anyone ever been to the Drafting Room in Springhouse for Brunch? Feedback please? Is there anywhere decent for brunch in the area?

Where to eat near Montgomeryville on a Sunday at 11 am?

is Arpeggio in Springhouse open?

New restaurants in Ambler

So I just came back to say Duh...there was a google map on the best of food page for toto's so I do see where Main Street is, and my post is gone>???? and so is the one from sousue from before mine? What gives? That is so weird....

You know that has happened before for such random things. I don't use profanity or trash anyone?
