I just went there today. Nice place, tacos were good, soda cold, waitress friendly.
Neighborhood is a little odd with the mix around there but not dangerous.
That said...The best tacos that I have had in a long time, including Mexico are at
The Bradley Cafe on Main Street in Bradley Beach. Soto and his wife Graciela
put out some great food. Worth the trip for breakfast or lunch..

Good atmosphere, great food and cheap beer in Monmouth County?

Clancy's in the strip mall outside of Ocean Grove. They always have beer specials, inexpensive but tasty sushi and a good bar menu.

Donuts...Doughnuts...Where art Thou in Monmouth County?

It's in Ocean County but Obco's on Fischer Blvd., Toms River sounds like what you are looking for. Hoffmans in Point Pleasant closed a few years ago. I have gotten good ones from Frank's in Asbury Park but it is a very limited selection.

New Bakery? - Asbury Park

I stopped i last week and got 2 slices. They were quite good even when re-heated.
I think they might have to rethink the pricing a bit though. The menu lists:
Turkey and cheese sub $15
Eggplant parm sub $15
Philly sheesesteak $13
Large plain pie $12.95

Is it just me?

Chinese Take-out in Belmar/Avon area

Chinatown Kitchen in Bradley Beach is usually OK.
I think the food was better under the old owners but it is still
fine for takeout.

Boom in Belmar

It's funny, I started this thread about ten months ago and really liked Boom.
I went a few more times and was more and more disappointed with the service
and the inconsistency of the food. There is lot to be said for a Big Ed Burger at the Windmill. It ain't gourmet but so what.

Andrea Clurfeld [moved from Mid-Atlantic board]

What happened to Andrea Clurfeld? And how about Don Wilno. He was the guy who would go out with the owner of Pete and Elda's and and do a useless review in the Saturday paper.

Huddy's Bar & Grill - Hooper Ave -Toms River

People move to Ocean County for low taxes and lower cost of housing all at a loss of certain amenities. The lower demographics don't appeal to the support of a lot of the businesses that you want. Face facts. You're not in Hoboken, Paramus, Brooklyn or Staten Island.
You want to be a food snob stay in NYC.

Thanksgiving to go

Every year my wife get a pre cooked turkey and fixins locally. Every year whether it's Hinck's,
Franks, Wegmans, Europa South, Cask 516 or wherever the is alway something that is not just right. This year I was drawn in by a small sign posted in front of Home Cooking For You/ The Kobe Beef Store on RT 35N just before Fort Monmouth. They had a Turkey Special for $139
with a 12-14lb turkey, gravy, stuffing, whipped sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, stringbeans almondine, cranberry sauce, rolls and a pumpkin pie.

The turkey was completely carved and everything was well wrapped.

It was the best tasting holiday dinner that we had in a very long time. It could easily feed 8 people. All of the ingredients were top notch.

While I was placing order I had a Kobe hot dog. Very good if you like a seasoned dog (I do).

Boom in Belmar

I'm thinking the Boom Burger is the way to go. Went with friend and had a Kobe burger and a Lamb burger. The best part of the Kobe was the mustard. The Lamb is pretty good. I will order for myself next time. Milk shakes are lacking. Instead of $2.75 charge $4.50 and use a premium ice cream.

Boom in Belmar

New place opened next to Viva's in Belmar called Boom.
The sign advertised burgers and shakes and I went in expecting a 5Guys rip off.
The menu is much much more. I had a Boom burger and it was the best burger I have had in years. It came with Swiss, bacon, sauce and a side of fries. It was on a square grilled roll that was out of this world. Very nice on the inside with table service. Spoke to owner and he is a meat purveyor in NYC which might explain the quality of the burger. Other menu items are crab cakes,Kobe sliders and lamb burgers.
