Durham-Raleigh CSA

I'm investigating CSA options and the last relevant post on CSAs in the area is from 2011. Anyone care to share their experience with local CSAs? I'm located in Durham, so I would like a pickup option in town.

I've been looking at Brinkley Farms, Coon Rock, and Harland's Creek but I'm open to hearing about anyone great.

Also, does anyone have and experience with the CSF from Walking Fish or Core Sound? Or with Coon Rock's meat CSA?

Looking for Massaman Curry Paste (specifics) in RDU area

Savory Spice Shop in Lafayette Village has several salt free curries, not sure specifically about the massaman. You can look at ingredients and nutritional values on their website.

Penzys in Cameron Village might also be worth investigating.

If you were jonesing for a coconut cupcake/cake in Chapel Hill ...

The cake is coated in coconut, but I think the icing is more fluffy than a thicker cream cheese icing. (Though there may be cream cheese in it; I'm not sure.)

If you were jonesing for a coconut cupcake/cake in Chapel Hill ...

Bull Street Gourmet has slices of coconut cake almost every day. The cake is thick, almost pound cake like, and the icing is awesome.

Saffron in downtown Durham/ Brightleaf square -when?

I've been wondering this too... for months now. Saffron isn't listed on the Brightleaf Dine list anymore. Does anyone know if Saffron cancelled their plans to open in Durham, or chose a different location?

Durham - rumours of Kenyan food?

Didn't C&T Wok move into that space? I hope they aren't closing because that place is delicious.

Authentic Food in NC Triangle Area

It's in the same shopping center as Tower in the old MaWa location.

I've been twice and really enjoyed the Thai food: Tom Yom, Basil Chicken, and a glass noodle dish that I can't seem to remember the name of right now.

Favorite Italian in the Triangle?

I've only been to Pulcinella 3 times, but it has hit the red sauce Italian spot every time.

Tijuana Flats coming to Raleigh

I guess it's different in that it's not an assembly line place like Moe's, etc. You order, they cook/prepare it in the back and bring it out to you. Don't get me wrong, Taqueria la Vaquita is still going to be my go to place, but I could see myself occasionally getting a crunchy taco at TF if I'm in Raleigh and want something quick.

Tijuana Flats coming to Raleigh

It's a mostly a Florida chain. My family that lives in Orlando eats there every Saturday night. It's not authentic Mexican, more Cali Mex with a focus on using fresh ingredients. The big "feature" is a hot sauce bar with a sweet, spicy, and really, really hot sauces that have cute but racy names.

The one my family has taken me to is pretty tasty.

Cheap eats for group in Durham/CH?

I'm not sure if you're looking for lunch or dinner, but if you want to stick with Indian food A Taste of India is delicious and more affordable than Sitar. I know they have a buffet at lunch for $8 and I believe on the weekends they've started serving a dinner buffet as well. There is also a full menu.

Cabin in Gatlinburg, TN

The Applewood Farmhouse and The Old Mill are the two places my family always eat at when we go to the area. Both are "down home" cooking type places... I like the food at Applewood more than The Old Mill, but The Old Mill is actually in an old mill, so the atmosphere is pretty cool.

My mom also loves to eat at The Park Grill... the deserts are pretty delicious. It's more of a fine dining type place.

As for groceries, there is a Super Walmart right on the main strip, a grocery just off the main drag at stoplight... 7 (I think) and there are kitchen supply shops at the outlet mall. I really like to do most of the meals up in the cabin when I'm there because traffic is a nightmare at the holidays.

Good luck and have fun! If you're up high enough you'll actually be able to look down at the fireworks at midnight.

3 Cups - Chapel Hill, NC

On 3 cups Facebook page they have a grand opening event listed for October 29. I can't tell from the page if this means that they are already open in their new location, or if they'll be opening next week, but either way it's good news.

Elmo's Diner has it as a brunch special every couple weeks and it is so delicious. Brig's also serves it, but I haven't tried it there.

Great Triangle Thai? Durham, NC

Thai-China Buffet, near where 55-54 meet, wins my vote. Unfortunate name, strip-mall location, and not much in the way of decor, but the food is amazing. The red curry is the best I've ever had anywhere, not just in the triangle.

At lunch they have a buffet, which is decent, but I prefer to go for dinner.
