Visiting LA next month...restaurants? markets?

there is an amazing flea market at the rose bowl, but it only happens one sunday a month. if that isnt happening when you are in town, there is another good, but smaller, flea market at melrose and fairfax. it happens every sunday morning.

great hot & sour soup in hollywood?

i live in hollywood and am looking for amazing hot and sour soup. i know that all the great/ authentic chinese places are outside the city, in arcadia and such. so if there's a place out there that has the best hot & sour soup ever please recommend it. however, i will not be able to trek out there all the time for some scrumptious soup. so im hoping to find hot and sour soup in hollywood or close by. any suggestions?

Dinner Suggestions for Hollywood?

i second cobras and matadors. but that's really los feliz/silverlake. if you are in the heart of hollywood you could also try bella on hollywood blvd. italian, not too expensive.

loteria goes hollywood

there is a parking lot on cherokee ave. just north of hollywood blvd. i believe they charge a flat fee of $8 (which has to be cheaper than hollywood/highland)

Recs for East Hollywood/Los Feliz -- (NOT THAI)

i would defintely recommend Cobras and Matadors (on hollywood, just east of vermont). amazing tapas and you dont leave hungry.
also recommend Electric Lotus on vermont (at franklin, right across the street from house of pies). amazing indian food. they have decent lunch specials...but fear not, no buffets

SF restaurants with great lunch deals?

I will be visting SF from LA with my mom from Chicago. We'll be in town in August from Wednesday-Saturday, pretty much all weekdays. Are there great restuarants that have cheaper/lunch menus? I've read about canteen doing this. Basically, I'm trying to keep a budget in mind but want to be able to eat amazing food. any suggestions please?
