Barn Wedding in Berkshires?
A couple years ago my cousin, who lived in NY at the time, but whose parents were in the Berkshires, got married in August at Gedney Farm in New Marlborough, MA. I have no idea what the cost was, but it was a gorgeous place for a wedding. www.gedneyfarm.com. Not sure who catered, but the farm probably has a list of caterers that have been there.
Vietnamese in the Chicago area
My favorite is Hai Yen on Argyle. Not a fancy place, but phenomenal authentic and inexpensive food. My friend has an annual party for the Vietnamese New Year and always has Hai Yen do the catering.
Still mourning Chinatown's Hong Min
I also have been in mourning for Hong Min's chow fun - have never found better. For dim sum I am a huge fan of Phoenix. The only place I have had better is in San Francisco. My NY friends prefer Phoenix for dim sum to anything in NY. And I recently was in Boston and went to the place most recommended for dim sum and, though good, it could not hold a candle to Phoenix. I haven't been to Happy Chef, but I have heard great things about it (including an insider tip from someone who works at Phoenix!). Now I'm looking forward to trying House of Fortune - thanks for the tip!
Good Thai near Ravinia?
I moved to Highland Park from the city a year ago and the best Thai place I've found up here is the new one mentioned by dlpens - it's called Thai Thai and is in the strip mall at 475 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield (less than a 10 minute drive from there to Ravinia). We've had take-out from there twice already and it was really good. Have fun!
Please help me decide dinner!
Thanks for your suggestions - and the advice about the Sox game! I'm going to confer with my friends and try for B&G.
Please help me decide dinner!
I will be in Boston this weekend. Have dinner reservations at Clio for Saturday night, but still can't decide on Friday dinner. My husband and I will be with another couple and, since we're from Chicago, we are looking for some great seafood. After reading this board, we thought we'd go to Neptune Oyster, but then found out they don't have many tables and don't take reservations, so we'll likely go there for lunch instead. We're considering Eastern Standard for dinner, which sounds great, but doesn't look like it's primarily seafood. Someone recommended Atlantic Fish Co - would this be a good alternative if we're looking for somewhere with great seafood, but also a place where we can all sit together and chat? The menu looks phenomenal, but I'm hoping for some insider input. Thanks!
