No example, but I can say for certain that many times the show, magazine, and website are not in sync. I love all three and start any research with their site, but you cannot take their word as the bible.
Cheese Board
I am looking to buy a specific board for cheese.
What is the best surface material for cutting? I see a few high end marble boards, but I would think that would damage and dull my knives...
What do you use? will any board do fine?

Scarpetta or Convivio
My GF and I went to Scarpetta last night after reading the strong reviews in both NY mag and the NY times; we were very disappointed...
The service and decor was fine ( wasn't thrilled about the bathrooms). Against my wishes she chose to have the tasting menu (app, pasta, entree, and dessert). My risotto and braised short ribs were good and her MOZZARELLA IN CAROZZA was phenominal. For the pasta we both tried the AGNOLOTTI DAL PLIN which she did not finish, I felt it was ok, but both agreed it had a very dry mouth feel.
For the entree she had the CAPRETTO and i had some Mediterranean fish lacked much flavor. Dessert was very good, a carrot buddino and a key lime "cheesecake".
Both reviews raved about items that sadly are no longer on the menu, if i ever go back i would probably sit at the bar and have an app and the spaghetti with tomato and basil and fritto misto that many were ordering.

My gf drinks a latte every morning, I usually have an espresso so 1-2 servings each time.
Every now and then we'll have friends or family over so no more than 4 servings are needed at any time.

My ideal cup of coffee is a an espresso with a drop of warm milk, the Cuban community calls it a cortadito.
As for the grinder, I was assuming it would run me another 100 or so. I have heard good things about the capresso infinity burr grinder.

Pre-theater dinner with a teen
I don't recall the entree, but she had a pesto gnocchi to start and a flour less chocolate cake for desert.
While she is a picky eater I can easily come up with a place, but i was hoping someone might read this and have a 'perfect' idea.

My GF and I are taking my niece to see Rent for her 13th birthday and I was looking for some restaurant ideas.
She is a picky eater (I took her to Union Square Cafe and while she loved what she had, she was not open to trying much.
I dine everywhere, but my usual spots are Artisanal, Babbo, and Gotham B&G.
Location is not much of a concern as we should have plenty of time before the show.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
