crema bel paese cheese in los angeles
A long time ago, I used to be able to get it from Vons. A long, long time ago... sigh.
Have you tried Bay City Deli in Santa Monica? It's been a while since I've been there, but it's worth a try.
Let us know when/where you find them!
Buying a house in North Hills, what is good to eat there?
Pampas Cafe in Granada Hills. Great Argentinian food!
La Canada
LOL They're not bad at all. It's not in the backwoods or anything like that. If you take a drive down Foothill, you'll find more restaurants than you can ever want to eat in. Plus, Pasadena is nearby.
A great breakfast place in Ventura/Oxnard area?
You could try the Golden Egg Cafe in Ventura.

Lunch in the USC area
If you want a super casual, walk to campus lunch, there's the 29the Street Cafe. If you want something a little 'nicer,' you'll have to drive a couple of miles north on Figueroa, between 9th street and 4th(ish). There are lots of restaurants there: Roy's, , Zucca Ristorante, Morton's steakhouse, and Engine Co #28. And by Staples Center there's the Liberty Grill and an ESPN Zone. I can't remember what other restaurants are open in that area, but quite a few are being prepped as we speak.
Simon's Cafe, Sherman Oaks
We had dinner there last night and it was AMAZING as per usual. I ordered the lamb chops and chef told me that he was going to use a better cut of lamb ($2 more than what's listed, but worth it!). Talk about succulent! My BF had the lamb tagine which was equally as awesome! We had the mango pudding for dessert which was both delectable and refreshing.
I can't rave about this place enough. Chef pours his heart into every meal and it shows!

(Oooh! Looks like he's offering a cookin lesson too!)
did I mention that I love this place??
I need Filipino food!!
There's Salo-Salo Grill in Glendale. I haven't been in a while and can't confirm if it's still there or not. Goldilocks will do crispy pata made to order, plus, they have all those yummies too.
Great. Now all I can think of is deep fried pork leg...
Sherman Oaks restaurants (preferably around the Arclight)
I'll throw my two cents in for another plug for Simon's. He really is an amazing dude.
Nice Sunday Brunch in Ventura? Need Hounds' input!
Howdy Hounds!
I wanted your input on great places to have brunch in Ventura, specifically near the Buenaventura Golf Course or by the Four Points Sheraton. I'm expecting about 10-12 people, and spending around $25 a head.
Ideas? I'm open to all suggestions.
PEKING DUCK @ NBC
Did you have to order that in advance? Some places do that with certain duck dishes.
Has anyone tried the Dog House (sp?) in La Canada Flintridge
"Somene else mentioned earlier that the JPL cafeteria is pretty good, any truth to that?"
Yes, but good luck getting in lol
LA Cooking Classes

On Pico, near the Westside Pavilion.
Stevie's Creole Cafe in Encino
It's been a while since we've been there. I do remember that the portions were enormous and the music kinda loud. Forget about being attended to. They waiters can't hear you over the din.
Porto's must try's
CHEESE ROLLS!!!
They're often likened to crack... lol
J/K

Best Eats at this year's OC Fair?
"when the judging and awards are done, you can eat the competition."
Wow. Brutal... lol
Sherman Oaks/ Encino Recs
Simon's cafe on Sepulveda just south of Ventura (next to the 405N/101 fwy on ramp). Chef Simon is the nicest guy.
Birthday Dinner in SFV or nearby....
I wasn't too impressed with Boneyard Bistro - it's just pricey mediocre BBQ. I would go to Mr. Cecil's in Sherman Oaks instead http://www.mrcecilscaliforniaribs.com/ It's only a few blocks away from Boneyard.
Sushi near Brentwood
There's also Sasabune on Wilshire. Not exactly Brentwood, but it's close.
BEST FRENCH FRIES IN LOS ANGELES
Best sweet potato fries are at Venus on Venice (blvd). It's in Mar Vista across the street from the bowling alley.
