Driving through Tuscany - winery recommendations?

My husband and I depart from Roma tomorrow to drive to Florence. We will be spending two nights in Orvieto and one night in Pienza. We are looking for wineries and vineyards to stop at on our drives, we don't mind wandering a bit. I'm having trouble finding places that are open now, so any advice would be appreciated!

Grazie!

Dec/Jan in Rome, Tuscany and Florence

Thanks for these great reviews! We don't mind leaving our hotel area at all, we are young and love to walk and see the sites. I'd rather eat whatever is best and travel a little!

We will definitely go to Perilli.

In Florence I love Cibreo and Casalinga, which I have found out will sadly be closed when we are there.

Dec/Jan in Rome, Tuscany and Florence

Thanks! We're staying in Hotel Re di Roma, so yes, it's in the city proper, but we'll probably need to metro or commit to long walks to get into the city center.
Any pizza suggestions if you're not into La Gatta?

Dec/Jan in Rome, Tuscany and Florence

My husband and I are arriving for a trip to Rome, Tuscany and Florence on December 26 and arriving on the 27th. I have been to Italy many times, but this is my husband's first time, so I want to make sure each meal counts. We live in NYC and love food, so our bar is high! That being said, not every dinner needs to be a fancy one and we are more than happy to end up in a casual enoteca if the food is good. My thoughts are:

Dec 27: either Hostaria Baldus (near our hotel on the outskirts of Rome) or Cul de Sac - we will be jet lagged and tired, so want something more casual. We also will probably eat lunch when we arrive at 3pm, so we want something lighter.
Lunch recommendations for our very first meal appreciated!

Dec 28: La Gatta Mangiona

Dec 29: Perilli

Dec 30: no plans, we are staying in Orvieto - recommendations appreciated!

Dec 31: reservations at Tipica Trattoria Etrusca in Orvieto for NYE

Jan 1: no plans, we are staying in Pienza - recommendations appreciated!

Jan 2 - 4: Florence - I lived here for a period of time so have a multitude of places I would like to visit, but would take any recommendations as I haven't been in 5 years.

Il Rosselino and Latte di Luna Reservations

We are located in NYC - how did other people go about making reservations at these small restaurants?

We will only be in the area for three days so I am worried that by the time we get there things will be booked.

New Year's Eve in Tuscany - Il Rosselino, Pienza?

We have heard that and are trying to call to be sure they will be open when we are there.
We are very much looking forward to this meal.

Any other recommendations?

Florence in a month...family meals and buying wine

Casa Dante pizzeria is a WONDERFUL restaurant, perfect for a family: http://www.trattoriadante.com/en/pizza.html.

Gustopanini which is near Santo Spirito is also great for a panini on the go.

New Year's Eve in Tuscany - Il Rosselino, Pienza?

My husband and I are planning a trip for after Christmas/NYE through Italy.
We fly into Rome, spend three nights and then pick up a rental car. We will spend 3 days driving through Tuscany and relaxing before we arrive in Florence where we will spend another 3 nights and then depart for home.
We are thinking of spending NYE in Pienza but want to make sure we can eat a delicious dinner there. I have heard Il Rosselino is superb and we are trying to call them to make sure we can make reservations. Has anyone else spent NYE in Tuscany? Any recommendations?

Private party for 45 BYOB in Northern NJ ???

My bridal shower was hosted at La Pastaria in Summit, NJ and was absolutely wonderful. My maid of honor bought cases of prosecco and they chilled it for her. The room was private and the menu was delicious.

I have been to Greek Delights in Montclair, but it's a little far. Any suggestions?

Highlawn Pavilion

How did the set up of your room work out? I am a little nervous about the irregular shape.

Highlawn Pavilion

Thanks!
Bosmer - were they good at accomodating your wedding requests? I just want to make sure the room looks perfect.

Highlawn Pavilion

I am currently planning a wedding for fall 2010 at Highlawn and I wanted to hear people's thoughts on the space.
Has anyone been to a wedding there?

Thanks!

Toque

Correct.

Toque

We ended up spending around $500 with the foie gras, wine pairings and tip.
Well worth it!

Toque

The highlight of the meal for me had to be the cod dish. It was cod, topped with a potato puree foam. Under the cod was a confit of vidalia onion, and the whole thing was topped with elderberry flowers. It was an amazing dish- it was inventive and delicious.
Of course, the foie gras was superb.
I agree that they paid attention to details- everything on each of the plates was well thought and well presented. There was nothing haphazard. Toque definitely cares about their cuisine.

Toque

I felt that I had to comment on this restaurant as I have seen so many mixed reviews on the board. I am a New Yorker who has high standards of cuisine, and when planning my recent trip to Montreal I wanted to eat at only the best.
I went this past weekend and enjoyed the tasting menu, with wine pairings and foie gras.
It was fantastic!
The food was inventive and delicious. Service from start to finish was attentive and complemented the meal greatly. The timing of the food was superb- it took approximately four hours to go through the entire meal. The wine pairings were perfect.
The only complainant that I have is the attire of fellow diners. I do not appreciate going out for a meal that I am going to spend large amounts of money on and see diners in polo shirts and sneakers. I believe that Toque needs to implement a stricter dress code- certainly jackets for the men. This will enhance the entire experience.
Other than that Toque is a great restaurant, worth the steep price.
