Fabulous, inexpensive 40th bday party

I'm looking for a great place to hold a 40th birthday celebration in downtown Boston. Budget is about $30/pp including bevies- i'm fine with beer & wine- just don't want to end up charging my guests to drink. I hear Teatro has reasonably priced bottles of wine, and I love Mantra across the street. I'm open to just about anything- suggestions? I'd like to offer food- tapas and/or apps would be fine in lieu of a sit-down dinner. Where can I get the most bang for that price? I'm guessing there will be 40-50 people. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Special Birthday Dinner Night Out w/The Girls

Any suggestions on where my friends and I should go to celebrate a birthday and a Friday night out? Some of our faves are Mistral, Clio, Radius, Oleana, Helmand, Tryst (Arlington), Tempo (Waltham), Ariadne (Newton), Quince (Needham) and Aujourd'hui. Looking for something new, different, upscale and not stuffy. We all eat out a lot so finding a place we haven't all been too is challenging. Thoughts?

Trip report - London and Bruges

Next time you're in Bruges you MUST make your way to Ghents~ very eastern-European, absolutely gorgeous and very interesting. Also, it's not full of tourists the way Bruges is.

Fat Duck-Bray

My father and I ate there this Spring. Bray is gorgeous and very romantic. Food was very interesting~ would I return? Not necessarily~ it was hardly the best food I've eaten~ especially for those prices. However, it was definitely the most unique food I had ever tasted, and the palate cleanser that stood out was a sorbet dipped in liquid nitrogen. Without wine we spent more than $400. I would try the tasters menu~ "when in Rome..." and all that. Bon Appetit!

Eating out with kids in the Burlington, Vermont area

Thanks so much~ very helpful. Do you know anything about Rutland?

Eating out in Boston's MetroWest area?

My friends and I are always looking for nice places to eat out in Boston's metrowest area. There are lots of great restaurants in Waltham, but we're alittle tired of going there. What are some of your faves between 128 & 495~ as far North as Bedford and South as Framingham? Thanks in advance.

Eating out with kids in the Burlington, Vermont area

My family and I are traveling to Burlington, Vermont next weekend and would love to have suggestions for places to go and places to eat with young (4 & 6) and well-behaved children. Thanks in advance!

Eating out with well-behaved (but young) children

My husband and I love to eat out, and we're looking for kid-friendly, sophisticated and good restaurants in the Boston area. Suggestions? The kids eat just about anything and are great in restaurants~ we just don't want to torture them by only eating in places that aren't really set up to accomodate them. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
