Lunch near Old Globe Theatre?
I'm going to the Old Globe in a few weeks, and being from the L.A. area, I'm not very familiar with the territory. I'd love some nice suggestions for lunch not too far from the theatre. Good old all-American fare is what I have in mind: burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc.

Mulberry Street Pizza - Yikes!
I like their pizza ... well I like their thin sliced cheese. That's the only kind I've tried, but I've never been disappointed ... talking about the Encino branch.

I second (third?) Mulberry St. Pizza. This ex-New Yorker loves their cheese-only thin crust slice. Never tasted the rest, but I go back often for that slice of heaven!

Simon's Cafe on Sepulveda is great ... Mediterranean/Morrocan fare ... their chicken tagine is wonderful!

Simon's Cafe, Sherman Oaks
I'm sorry you had a bad experience. That's not at all like the wonderful times I've had at Simon's Cafe. I eat there often because 1) the prices are reasonable, 2) the food is fresh and delicious, 3) and Simon is a charming host. I suggest you give it another try. I read the Times review and I couldn't agree more!

I forgot to mention that my friend had a dish called cous-cous (sp?) royale, and said it was "out of this world." Give this restaurant a try. The guy needs the business, and the food is delicious. It's just across the street from Whole Foods Market.

After reading all those good reviews about Simon's Cafe on Sepulveda Blvd., South of Ventura Blvd., I decided to try it today for lunch. You guys were right. The food was superb. I had a chicken tagine with dried fruits, and it was incredible. For dessert I had the homemade baklava, and that was great, too! And Simon, the owner, is the nicest guy. Thanks for your recommendations!
