Anyone tried the new gelato / ice cream in Stamford- pricing is out of site

See that there's 2 new ice cream places in Stamford:

Volta Gelateria Creperia (on Spring Street, in the old Robestelli Travel spot), and the Tropiglace Ecuadorian Ice Cream shop, where Gelato Paridiso used to be.

Tried to go to both, but was too early this am. Used to love Gelato Paridiso, followed the owner to Wilton for a while...

At Volta, the place wasn't opened, but asked them price for a pint, and its $26/pint. NOt sure if its just me, but just seems outrageous.

Anyway, at this price it better be amazing!

Authentic Southeast Asian restaurant needed.. - New Haven, CT

Lao Sze Chuan in Milford is best Szechuan around CT...

Best Indian food in Fairfield County, CT

I always preferred cormondal (stamford) to tawa.. but have not been to tawa since it moved. The lunch / brunch at cormondal is quite good.

BTW-- anyone been to the new chili chicken run by the tawa owners in its former location?

Fun / funky / celebratory in KC (north)

KC is ribs country-- Oklahoma Joe's is the best!

MSU / Lansing Homecoming Weekend help needed!

Thanks for the insight... Any feedback on the local Thai restaurants (Thai Kitchen or Lamai's) or Indian (e.g. Sindhu). My daughter likes Asia Pac food!

BTW-- both Pablo's and Sawyers were excellent!

MSU / Lansing Homecoming Weekend help needed!

Calling all MSU foodies! I know you must be out there!

Coming in from CT to visit my daughter for the weekend.

Last time we were out we ate at the Travellers Club (in Okemo's), Pablo's Panaderia (in Old Town), and had a great breakfast at Sawyers Pankake House (downtown).

As you can tell, more than willing to travel and explore for good food- doesn't need to be fancy-- but excellent quality!

Help!

Little Budda in Stamford??

Been there-- very good food. Had the Sambal chicken, Hot Garlic shrimp, and pork with Green Curry. All were pretty highly spiced, so keep that in mind if you like it a bit milder.

Keep in mind the place is mostly designed for take-out with 8 2 top tables. (It's in the former emack and bolio's ice cream shop location.)

Also, reports on BYOB are misguided, they do have a liquor license.

Anyway, check it out, much better than Kit's.

Looking for restaurant near Grand Central for dinner with the folks

szechuan gourmet-- best chinese-- 39th between 6th and broadway

New Haven Pizza

Having lived in Chi and travel their regularly, agree with J re Giordano's. Edwardo's used to be better (did their own fresh herbs in the window on Howard street), but they have gone downhill. At one point, they had an outlet in Milwaukee and AZ.

In either case, I prefer a deep dish, stuffed spinach with mushrooms. Sometime we bring em home-- you get them half baked / frozen-- works pretty well...

If you like New Haven pies, you might want to check out Harry's or Luna in Harford (on west farmington ave). I prefer Harry's, nice white clam and traditional ingredient pies...

Of course, take me to DiFara (went last weekend), and that's as good as it gets on the east coast...

RW Murray Hill

I've done RW at Asia de Cuba and it's quite good...

Great Restaurant within 2 hours from Stamford

Try the Still River Cafe in Eastford. You'll need to find an nearby inn-- but that should be do able...

Still River is an old refurbished barn, and has terrific food tucked away in NE CT.

Lobster / Seafood in / Near Newport

Heading to Newport tomorrow with some friends to see the mansions, check out the seaport ...

Are there any good seafood restaurants (don't need to be fancy) for some good lobster, chowder, oysters, clams...?

Thanks

Clueless LA couple coming to Manhattan

We've taken a bunch of the Big Onion tours, the 5 points, gramercy park, the lower east side... They are all very good and informative, lots of info about the architecture, and history.

Most of them are guided by NYU or Fordham students! Enjoy.

For other tour ideas, e.g. trip across the brooklyn bridge, visit to the bronx, check out www.thefoodbully.blogspot.com

Pizza reviews: Lombardis/Di Fara/Sally's/Pepe's

LVI,

Think we must have crossed paths between CT, Brooklyn, NY, and Chi.

I love both thin crust (red and white pies), and stuffed deep dish, although agree that this is an entirely different kettle of fish.

Some additional CT pies to add to the mix:
1. In Hartford (on farmington avenue): Harry's and Luna pizza (3 doors down from each other), both make great red and white pies. I'd put Harry's over Pepe's and Sally's, and Luna just under the bunch. Really excellent thin crusts. BTW, I typically add bacon and garlic to the white clams.
2. In Norwalk, Letiza's is also excellent. Probably a notch below those above.
3. NYC area, I'd put Di Fara as a big #1, others next step down. Or course, it's not an easy get to. Recently went to Grimaldi's as part of visiting the new waterfalls, and the pie there was excellent, albeit not Di Fara.

If you get to Chi, there's nothing like a deep dish, stuffed spinach and mushrooms. Edward's and Giordano's still make my mouth water!

Enjoy.

Best Italian Restaurant -Little Italy

Head uptown to the Bronx's Little Italy, Arthur Avenue. There's really little decent real Italian left in little Italy, on what is is highly overpriced and mediocre. Agree with thoughts above, best of the bunch likely Angelo's, Benito's and La Mela (but more of an Italian parody that anything else.)

Suggest either Enzo's or Roberto's, both excellent in the Bronx...
