Thank you so much for the suggestions and we'll certainly look at that blog. Thanks again.
Good eats in Naples/Estero/Bonita Springs?
We will be staying in Naples (5th Ave & 2nd St) in September.
Where should we eat?
Looking for reasonably priced places plus a few more expensive places to treat ourselves.
We don't mind driving 30 minutes or so away from Naples but would also like to walk to a few meals on 5th Ave or 3rd St.
Would welcome recommendations for breakfast, coffee places, sandwiches, mexican, pizza/italian, burgers, steakhouses or anything else that you think we should try!
Thank you.
Indian Shores & surrounding areas-good Thai, Italian & Mexican?
Hello all,
We're off to this area the last week of February and would welcome recommendations for good Thai, Italian (pasta & pizza etc) and Mexican.
Half an hour or so drive from Indian Shores is fine.
Thanks everyone.
Afternoon Tea at the Ritz?
I can recommend the afternoon tea at the Goring Hotel.
However, as it's the hotel where Kate Middleton will stay the night before her wedding, they may well be booked solid now with all the media attention they're likely to have got out of that!
Where should we eat in Bruges?
We will be in Bruges between 18th-21st March. Just 2 adults.
Where would you recommend?
We're not restricted to certain types of cuisine, just want it to be good!
We'd like to try local dishes too, what is a speciality in this area?
We're looking for both lunch & dinner spots. Cheap & cheerful plus more expensive options welcome (don't want to have to wear jacket & tie though).
Thanks Chowhounders, your recommendations in the other parts of te world have always been spot on :0)
St Pete Beach next week.
Skidders in St Petes Beach is a diner style place that does good breakfasts & lunches.
It is across the street from the Tradewinds Sandpiper hotel.

McDonagh's on Quay Street in Galway city is great for fish & chips. Won awards for their fish & chips for quite a few years.
Staying in Indian Shores-where should we eat in this area? Don't mind a drive!
Thanks for the recommendations people.
Have made a list!
Staying in Indian Shores-where should we eat in this area? Don't mind a drive!
Chowhounders,
Please give me your recommendations for this part of the Tampa Bay area.
We are quite happy to drive 30-45 minutes (along the coast or inland) for a good meal.
We are most interested in the following cuisines:
Mexican
Thai
Steaks
Italian
However, good recs for burgers/dogs, pizza, sandwiches, bakeries, breakfast would also be appreciated.
Flexible budget, would like some cheap eats but also want a few "nice" meals.
All your recs in the past have been great so looking forward to some more!!
Traveling through London in July....where should I avoid?
I would agree with Harters on lamb!
Been visiting evey year since 1990 (Chicage down to Florida) and rarely see lamb on menus.
1 lamb dish seems to be mainly on high end menus

£100 dinner? Is that for all 4 of you or each of you?
If for all 4 of you, £100 will buy you a starter, main and a couple of drinks in places that aren't what you'd call high-end, I'm afraid.
You can eat more cheaply than that and get great food and there are many threads on here about that but London prices, on the whole, may be a shock to a 1st time US visitor.
Looking for great food in Ireland
McDonaghs in Galway city is pretty good, it's on Quay Street.
Just a fish and chip shop in the day then one half stays as a fish and chip shop with benches to sit on and the other half becomes a proper fish restaurant in the evening.
Very good fish and chips, has been for years.
Good places to eat in Cheltenham/Gloucester
HI,
2 of us visiting the Cheltenham/Gloucester area for a couple of days over Easter.
Any recommendations?
Any type of cuisine welcome. Lunch & dinner.
Up to approx £70 for dinner for two (plus wine).
Thanks and look forward to your replies
need some help picking between the following in London.
I think that Ground has closed down?
In Chiswick a couple of times over the last 3 weeks and it is empty, with signage gone and blacked out windows.
Good places to eat in Indian Shores & surrounding areas
Thansk TampaAurora,
We managed to try theh Salt Rock Grill (twice), Lighthouse, Maggie Mae's (twice), Mario's and Thai-Pan Alley (twice),
All were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed.
Where are the good Mexican restaurants in Tampa Bay area?
Thanks to all for your recs.
We managed to try two of your suggestions and loved them both:
Red Mesa-more of a gourmet treat and it was packed but we got in before the rush. Very good food.
El Toro Negro-loved this place and we would never have tried it without your recommendation. Very plain, no nonsense place but the food was true home cooking and seemed very authentic.
Thanks again.
London Recommendations for a US hound please?
We like the Golden Hind on Marylebone Lane (off Marylebone High Street) for fish and chips.
It's been around for almost 100 years and not a fancy place but very good fish and chips!
They're not open on Sundays and get pretty packed so if you can, book a table.
They're also a BYO so if you want wine/beer, bring it with you and they'll open it and supply glasses without charging a corkage fee.
Where are the good Mexican restaurants in Tampa Bay area?
Thanks everyone, all added to the list!
Where are the good Mexican restaurants in Tampa Bay area?
Hi,
We'll be visiting the area soon and would welcome recommendations for good Mexican.
We're staying in Indian Shores but will have a car so driving further afield will be possible.
Thanks everyone
BYO in Britain??
A lot of places that are BYO do so because they can't be bothered with the hassle that goes with a drinks licence.
We eat in a few places that don't serve alcohol (mainly Thai or fish n chips) and they're more than happy to provide glasses for your own wine/beer etc.
Good places to eat in Indian Shores & surrounding areas
TampaAurora,
Thank you very much for your reply.
Your suggestions look good and have been added to our list!
Good places to eat in Indian Shores & surrounding areas
Hello all,
We're visting Indian Shores in a couple of months.
Any recommendations for good places to eat in Indian Shores and surrounding Tampa Bay area.
Would love to hear about all types of food but good diners/places for breakfast/brunch, mexican, pizza and steakhouses would be very welcome.
All types of budgets too, from a cheap and quick lunch spot to a "grown up & nice" restaurant for dinnner.
Thanks everyone!
Best Sunday Dinner in London?
If you do decide to try Sunday lunch, try the Goring Hotel which is just down the road from Hyde Park Corner (5 mins walk max).
Google Goring Hotel and you'll find their website.
They are frequently mentioned as one of the best places for Sunday lunch in London. They do dinner too on a Sunday if you prefer that.
It is a luxury hotel still run by a family rather than a chain and has been run by them for 4 generations (100 years
Their dining room is a proper traditional dining room and they pride themselves on service that would have been common place in the Victorian/Edwardian era. It is not pompous or stuffy, just very good service that makes you feel like you have had an experience.
Definitely recommended.
Three months in London, help me hit the ground running
As others have said, you must eat fish and chips at the Golden Hind in Marylebone Lane (just down the road from Marble Arch).
The BEST fish and chips in London!
If you want to drink alcohol, it is a BYO but with fish and chips, it's gotta be a mug of tea hasn't it?
