Here's a tough one -- Any decent Vietnamese, aside from pho, in or near the South Bay? I second Thai Lai, my favorite authentic Vietnamese place. Love the broken rice with steamed chicken, pho and the sour and spicy beef stew YUM! Cash only though and hard to find parking. |

ISO Great Pho in the South Bay I personally like Thai Lai in Hawthorne. Usually only vietnamese people there and cash only...pho broth is really good as are most other soups |

If your interested in good Chinese food DO NOT go to hermosa. I live in manhattan beach and there is no good Chinese food at the beach. If you do want Chinese food go to Monterey park or to the San Gabriel valley and definitely do dim sum and soup dumplings (dumplings filled with delicious broth). There are good places near the beach though, like MB post, fish bar (I love their blue cheese martinis and oysters) and umami burger in hermosa. Defiantly get Mexican food while you are here, I especially love oaxacan food including moles. Hope this helps and have fun in LA! |

Craft, Boucheron, Night and Market, Bazaar, Stefans Farm-stand and Gordon Ramsey's place are all on my radar but not sure where to pick. I am going with some not sooo adventurous mid westerners (if not Night + Market would be my first pick!)...any recs? thanks!! |

best view w decent seafood in the south bay? My parents are in town and want to have dinner overlooking the water. My dad would like a fisherman's platter (preferably fried, which is v hard to find in LA supprisingly!) and I want to make the man happy :) any suggestions? Sofar, I've come up with Tony P's, Strandhouse (though a bit to "fancy pants" for them, dont really see them wanting anything with a foam or gelee) or somewher in redondo like chart house. Any help is greatly appreciated!! |

Cabo, great seafood and not to miss cuisine in January? Looking for amazing food (esp. seafood) in January. My boyfriend and I will be staying at the RIU Santa Fe, and heard the food is pretty bad, we'd like some inexpensive and good seafood, also is there any kind of local cuisine that shouldn't be missed? We live in So Cal so mexican food is pretty abundant. Also are the prices for food much cheaper or is it expensive since the area is touristy? Thanks for the help!!! |

Cooking Dried Beans in the Slow Cooker thanks for the tip, may use chicken stock as the liquid after draining beans then add meat (smoked sausage, pork and ham hocks) while the beans cook for the 8 hrs or so. Do you think peppers would be ok to add at the beginning? I want to add onions, garlic, peppers and bay leaf to make it taste traditional. |

Slow Cooker Feijoada (brazilian black bean stew) anyone have a good recipe? I'd really like to make feijoada in my slow cooker from dried beans. Anyone have a recipe for this or an idea of how to do it? Do I need to soak the beans? How much liquid and cooking times? Is it ok to add the meat at the beginning and let it cook for the full 8-9 hrs? |
