Finally Grinded My Own Meat- Still tastes like Storebought Frozen Old Hamburger Patties

I've always thought the main advantage of grinding your own meat is that it enables you to make your own "mixture" of different cuts...

uses for sriracha??

I like to toss it with raw shrimp in the shell and cook them up - either on the stove or the grill.

looking for killer bar food

Ladyface in Agoura Hills. They brew their own beer, have a variety of guest beers, and really good food. And you can't beat the patio at the face of the Santa Monica's overlooking Agoura Road.

I dislike celery!

I don't like cooking OR eating anything with celery, black olives or pickles. To me the taste overwhelms everything else

Why do foodies like the McD's Filet o' Fish?

Only because of this board, I tried a FoF after 20+ years.
The best part was the steamed bun.
And that concludes my review - the best part was the steamed bun...

The best thing your school cafeteria served

Taco Dog! A flour tortilla with a foot long hot dog and salsa for a quarter.
Strawberry pie
Chocolate cookies
This was all in Southern California.
Oh - and the Taco Dog has it's own facebook page!

Burger add-on ideas?

I’m going to my Sister’s for the Fourth and want to add something special to her menu. They’ll be grilling beef and Boca burgers. Any recommendations for awesome additions?
Thanks in advance…

Cooking Show Nostalga: Great Chefs

One of MY most memorable shows (well. there are two) took place in a Chinese kitchen. I was fascinated at how differently everything was prepared.
I was watching on KCET out of Los Angeles...

Tuna Fish in a Can

Forgive me if it's already been mentioned, but Costco (Kirkland) brand is the way tuna used to be made.
The Costco Connection had an interesting article about the history of why they started "canning it" themselves about a year ago. It may still be in their archives.

Food that Most People Love and You Don't...

I agree with lobster, although I LOVE crab. Hot, cold, dip - doesn't matter.

Do you give everyone Thanksgiving leftovers to take home?

Always. I make enough to ensure everyone can take home leftovers.

It was pretty good.

First Visit to Chipotle's

I went to a newly opened Chipotle (Westlake Village, CA) two days ago for a carnita taco. It was served on a warm, soft corn tortilla. Although it was pretty tasty, it was a bit salty. One taco was $2.00.

Ask Aida--Why so quiet?

I apologize in advance if this was already posted, but wasn't this the same concept as that guy on Next FN Star? I don't remember his name, but he was the 'funny' one.

Can a Cooking Show "Jump the Shark"?

What was the show she did with the guest chefs? I remember one where two guys were on and got FACED. They even caught a kitchen towel on fire. It was a kick watching Sara as they got drunker and drunker...

Best pre-prep'd holiday meal? Whole Foods VS Bristol Farms

Gelson's turkey is pretty good. We've had it for Thanksgiving for the last 4 or 5 years. I suggest you just get the turkey and make your own sides - they just aren't worth the money.

Dinner at Vallarta

Roscoe and Canoga is smaller, but we've found their deli counter to be a bit better. The one on Sherman is newer and bigger. For lunch, we prefer the one off of Canoga. They have a simmered chicken with peppers and stuff that makes a killer burrito. And the rellenos are incredible.

Your Favorite Chain Burger

Wow. Orcutt. I lived there in the 70's, and we used to pick up burgers from a bar 'at the bottom of the hill on the corner'. They were THE BEST! Could it be??????

FIrestone Beer at Costco

I was in the Westlake Village (CA) Costco yesterday, and was very pleased to see cases of Firestone Lager (my fav) and Ale for $20.99 a case. They said they were testing it to check the sales volume.

last minute ideas for Mexican or seafood, or both near LAX, with a full bar?

Yum - Panchos. I moved away from the South Bay about nine years ago, but we used to LOVE Panchos. The black bean soup was wonderful.
