Speaking of Atwater Crossing...
Ate there today for brunch-had a great berry brioche french toast w/ vanilla marscapone on the side, tons of fresh berries and pistachios.
Also had a spinach/bacon/goat cheese flatbread w/ 2 over easy eggs on top-yum !!!
My daughter had pancakes, nice & fluffy w/ 2 eggs & bacon& a side of breakfast potatoes that were really well seasoned.
Fresh squeezed orange juice & a homemade chocolate biscotti.
Great space, kid friendly, good for groups. Lots of breakfast items and flat breads, there was a corned beef hash w/ eggs special that looked really good.
Very friendly & prompt service.

Last night in L.A, Have a reservation at Hatfield's. Should we change to Little Door?
Little Door has a beautiful atmosphere, very LA, but I find it really expensive.
$40 for 4 scallops ??
They have great salads, beautiful cheese plate, the food is really good, but just so expensive for what you get.
Maybe try a walk in at Son of a Gun (same chefs as animal, but seafood based).
Hatfield's is very good, but more fine dining direction.
Also, you could do a walk in at Osteria Mozza or Pizzaria Mozza.

Ralph's also has undecorated sugar cookies-in bell, Xmas tree & star shapes, with a hole in the top you can put a ribbon thru to hang on your tree.
In a plastic 24 count box in the bakery section.
I think about $6.00 per box.

Anyone been to Gobi Mongolian BBQ House in Silver Lake?
Went last night & thought it was very good. Healthy & yes, it was one "of those old-school places where you pick out the food and they stir fry it in front of you ".
They had 4 choices of meats : pork, sirloin, chicken & lamb + a large "vegetable " bar of items (including tofu ) and then noodles. All kinds of sauces to add & suggestions about combinations of sauces to try.
Pile everything in a bowl (and pile high, because it cooks down a lot ) and hand it to the cook, who cooks it there in front of you & hands it back to you on a plate.
White & brown rice was also available for an additional dollar.
They do have beer & soju.
Seems like a fun place for kids as well-the kid's price is cheaper.
Did not see if they had high chairs.
They also brought us out some warm sesame rolls, which were yummy & kind of "Hot Pocket " tasting-in a comforting , good way.
Very clean & well run.
Free Parking in the lot next door.

Homegoods stores have lots of sprinkles & cake/cooks decorations in clear jars. There is one on Brand Blvd. in Glendale across from the Americana. I just bought some pale pink sugary sprinkles there. Maybe that would work for you, or they might have other colors. Near the cookies & candy at the front by the register.

Valerie Chocolates is next door to L'Artisan & sells a more hard toffee-ish candy.
Cristian (owner)had been selling his chocolates, that his lovely wife hand makes, at several farmer's Mkts. around town.
The old Picholine deli wasn't his, but he did work there sometimes. I still miss the # 5 turkey sandwich !

Pizzeria Mozza - kid friendly?
Depends on the kids & the timing.
I've seen some pretty grumpy grownups in there (and felt that way too myself while waiting on the bench outside for a seat at the bar !).
It can get really noisy in there, but on a weekday or weekend mid-afternoon/early evening , I would go for it.
You can always take turns walking the kids around the block. :-)

Pizzeria Mozza IS kid friendly, I think they even have high chairs (call ahead & ask ).
The only thing is :
It's kind of close together tables & it can be a really long wait, even if you have a res.
Go at an off time, or early like 5 PM.
We take our 5 yr. old there all the time, eat at the pizza bar & there are always kids there.

It's all serviced by Wolfgang Puck, Inc. so if you like what they sell at Gelson's/ Mayfair in the Wolfgang Puck refrigerator case, you'll like the food at the Observatory. You can also bring your own food & enjoy the spectacular view for free. Very nice at dusk.
