Moist wedding cake in Raleigh-Durham

Hello All!

I'm planning my wedding for next May and in order to fit into my wedding gown I need to at least narrow down the field of cakes to try. And with your advise I might be able to only visit a few bakeries. :)

My goal is to find an incredibly moist wedding cake with a simple design and basic flavors.

Any suggestions?

Stay-cation in the Triangle Area (March 1st-10th)

So many of the places you've named I haven't tried! Thank you! I think so often when you live somewhere it is easy to settle into a rut of visiting the same places.

I really like Indian food, we like SPICY food.

Some of my local favorites are:

Acme- Sunday Brunch
Thai Villa - no atmosphere but awesome food
Neo Asia - the sushi chefs take their sushi rice seriously and it shows!
City Beverage - the 'outrageous steak sandwich' is super rich, but worth every calorie
Dawat - Very accommodating for large parties, service staff are lovely (not a fast food restaurant- prepare for a long leisurely meal), and the food is amazing

Best Indian in the Triangle - Vimala's Curry Blossom Cafe

Big time Indian food fan here. I've lived in Chapel Hill, Durham, and now Raleigh. My friends and I adore Dawat in Morrisville.

Not only is the food great, BUT the service is also on point.

I really like the food at Vimala's but it is a haul from Raleigh, and as a few others have mentioned, the place is quite small so seating can be difficult in cooler months.

Dawat is super close to the Morrisville/Cary Saffron and we all agree Dawat is far superior to either Saffron location.

Any tips for getting into Dame's? I've tried twice now with no luck.

Hayashi Ya in Brier Creek

I've been pretty disappointed in my experiences there. PLUS the prices are quite high for what they serve. My favorite sushi in the area is from Neo Asia on 70/Glenwood, (then a tie between Shiki in Durham and Sushi Thai in Raleigh) but in Brier Creek I would direct you towards Tasu rather than Hayashi Ya.

Stay-cation in the Triangle Area (March 1st-10th)

Any suggestions? I'm a grad student at NCSU and my boyfriend and I decided to stay in town for spring break rather than spend money to travel else where.

I've grown-up in Chapel Hill, lived in Durham for six years, and in August we moved to Raleigh.

Please share with me local delights that I just can't miss. Food or activities would be great.

Thank you!

Raleigh area breakfast options?

We love Acme for brunch, unfortunately, they only serve it on Sundays. They are inventive and keep it fresh yet still manage to pull off their staples. Try the Orange County Special... trust me.

Great Triangle Thai? Durham, NC

I live in Durham work, work in Chapel Hill and love Thai food. My girlfriend and I adore the Pad Thai and Thai Villa noodles from Thai Villa, but the atmosphere there kind of sucks and with heavy gas prices it is hard to find an excuse to drive to Cary for dinner.

It has been a long time since I tried Thai Palace in Chapel Hill (it was always okay), for a little bit nicer atmosphere we have frequented Pao Lim but were never as pleased with the food, we have also tried Thai Lanna and while we really liked the Pad Thai did not find too many other menu items great. Any suggestions, or comments on our past experiences? (I love spicy noodles with garlic and basil)

Beginning to Panic....!

Our cake needs are pretty slim after the moist request. Clean lines and delicious are what we would love. Thanks for your suggestions.

Beginning to Panic....!

We are from North Carolina and will be getting married September 22, 2008 (it's a Monday..eeeee) in San Francisco and are trying to determine if our picture perfect place exists for our after ceremony events. There will only be 10 people as we are having a destination wedding so it is easier to fit us in places.

Our perfect place includes great food (including mussels), a lively atmosphere, and dancing (if at all possible). Our budget is about $100 dollars per person (if we can spend less we would like to).

We would also really appreciate suggestions on where to buy a moist wedding cake.

I know these are great expectations but come on we hope to only get married once. :)

Please send any suggestions!!! Thank you!

Married in September

Also, we prefer to stay in the SF downtown area as the guests will be using public transportation.

A very loose budget as there are so few people. Anywhere from 75-150 per person. Thanks for the help!
