Where can I find szechaun "Nine Bowls" from Bizarre Foods TV Show
Did anyone see the Chengdu episode from Bizarre Foods?
Is this something I can find on offer from a menu in Manhattan?
Or do you basically have to order 9 small plates?
Is Hop Kee the best cheap Chinese in NY?
These dishes as well as salt and pepper squid and Peking Pork chop are the staples of my visits. Just change that chow fun to Roast Duck instead of pork and you're good to go.
$100 for good beers
I've found it at a few beer distributors on LI. I've had it on tap at Pony Bar.
They've found it here:

$100 for good beers
Having just had it recently I can highly recommend the purchase of a few Captain Lawrence Golden Delicious. $15 for a bomber. It's their Xtra Gold aged in Apple Brandy barrels...
Restaurant near McSorley's
Around that area:
Jimmy's No. 43 is right down the block as is Caracas Arepa Bar. Degustation is on 5th, DBGB on Bowery, Bianca on Bleecker and Aroma Kitchen and Wine Bar on 4th.
I'd do Aroma or Jimmy's...

After slugging through the recent NYC craft Beer week i would say my current 5 favorites in Manhattan would be:
1- Blind Tiger - my all-time fav place to drink a brew.
2 - Jimmy's No. 43 - my neighborhood staple. Great beer, even better food and Super Podcast.

I'm from Boston, NY Wife says: "NY Pizza is the best." So where is it?
I lived up there for many years and the two places to go for pizza she is looking for are -
for a slice:
Sal & Carmine's
2671 Broadway, New York NY 10025 (b/n 101st/102nd); 212-663-7651
for a pie:
V&T
1024 Amsterdam Ave, New York 10025
(Btwn 110th & 111th St)
For a novelty slice that isn't too bad for what it is, I used to go up to Koronet on 111th and broad and get that gigantic slice for like $2:50.
BTW I went to Popover's at least twice a month when I was up there and any weekday I was off I'd get the Cappuccino Eggs. Never understood why they didn't do this on the weekend...

Going to Hoboken this weekend. What should I eat?
Lifetime NYer going for the first time, taking the PATH so we'll be on foot.
Friends from out of town want to go see Carlo's Bakery. And then we'll be looking for places to find some good eats. The crowd I'll be with eats everything and we'd be looking for a range of things to sample. All ethnicities and price ranges welcome. Are there any can't miss items. Is the place that makes sandwiches in pizza dough? in Hoboken or is that another town?
I did try a search on the board but nothing really jumped out at me...
thanks for any ideas.

Best I've had is at DeRoberti's on 1st ave and 11th. Across the avenue from Veneiro's and way better in all regards.

thanks for any info....

Maybe Locande Verde, though that get's pretty busy. They have enough food to share around family style.
The tasting menu at Torrisi is like $45 bucks if you can get in...

World Cup of Beer 2010
I try and do this for every world cup. Looking for great suggestions for having a world cup of beer based on this year's participants in the FIFA World Cup. I live in NYC so have access to some decent places and some specialty markets. (or if you know an online source like liquidsolutions which i used to use for buying by the bottle). Don't know what i'm gonna do for the african beers as i've rarely if ever seen any available. Maybe just a Guinness export if i can track it down now that i hear it's available in NY.
Anyone have a favorite from any of these countries that would likely be available?

But the Bon Chon on 38th and 8th was bustling.
Hudson Valley Restuarant Week March 15-28. Any must try's from this list?

I have friends who recently moved to Pleasantville and was wondering if anything on this list would be good to recommend to them.
Your Favorite NYC restaurant?
For me I'd have to go with Tamarind. Something about the smells and the flavours when i go there (it's how i used to feel about Patria) . Just never get a bad dish at this place.
Moving from EV to UES...help me find something to eat, PLEASE
thanks for the head start hounds...
Moving from EV to UES...help me find something to eat, PLEASE
Leaving my incredibly blessed foodie location at 11th St and 2nd Ave for a nicer apt with a kitchen I can actually cook in on 78th and York. So when I'm not eating my own creations can someone please tell me where to go around here (i will walk far for food so 20 block radius in OK)? I feel like I am betraying my poor stomach. Are there must have's and little places who something wonderful that I shouldn't miss? I eat everything, every flavor, every culture, sweet to spicy.
I know I can't replace all the great things on 7th st alone (LUke's, Porchetta, Caracas, Klimat...etc) never mind the whole area i' m leaving (boo-hoo MOMOFUKU EMPIRE, Motorino, Mama's fried chicken)...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
grazie
Thick, European style hot chocolate
sundae's and cones on 10th st near 2nd ave..not as thick but tastes like it
Italian Cookies
Make sure after you try the cannoli you leave and go across 1st avenue to DeRobertis and get a sfogliatella and a cassatine siciliana. The best pastries in the city. Way better than Veniero's
Chicago-style Italian Beef Sandwich?
not exactly the same but they do a dipped roast beef on a bun that's supposed to be pretty good.
