J in Toledo's Profile
San Diego foodie moving to Bowling Green, Ohio
You are correct, I should have said avoid all Mexican restaurants in northwest Ohio. I'm intrigued by the new Imperial restaurant in Ferndale , MI. It is described as serving LA-style street food.

I should add that the grocery store still stocks some great items.

Warning: Do not set foot in any Mexican restaurant in Ohio. You will be sorely disappointed. I spent 12 years in Arizona/California and I've only found one 'taco truck' in Ohio that knows how to cook Mexican food.

I recommend the Happy Badger in BG. It carries Zingerman's Bread (Ann Arbor) and Calder Dairy products. In Toledo, the closest thing to Whole Foods is the Fresh Market (much much smaller but equally as pricey). A new and wonderful Vietnamese restaurant just openened in Toledo. Its name is Amango and is located on Monroe St. Beirut is my favorite Lebonese restaurant. For very fresh Indian food, I recommend Deepam in Central Ave. Welcome to the area!
Hell's Kitchen or Red Stag for Brunch on Sunday (MSP)
Travelling from to Toledo to meet 5 relatives for Sunday brunch. Hell's Kitchen and Red Stag are the two contenders to meet everyone's needs (e.g. cocktails and location). I want to explore the Antiques Riverwalk after brunch. Please advise on which place to go to or another place in the vicinity of the Antiquest Riverwalk (warehouse district). Thank you for your insight.
Lansing on Sunday, July 5
Unfortunately, both of these places are closed on Sundays.

Thanks for the update. We settled on Mitchell's Fish Market as they take reservations and only allow smoking in the bar area. If you've been there and have any comments, I'd appreciate knowing them.
Lansing on Sunday, July 5
Friends from Los Angeles will be meeting us in Lansing on Sunday, July 5 for Brunch, Lunch or Dinner. We'll each be driving 2 hours to meet. I've not been able to come up with a definitive choice. I'd like your input. I promised my friends no sushi or Mexican as I know they would be disappointed. Two places look interesting: India Palace and Woody's Oasis. What do you recommend?
SE Michigan - The Current State of Pizza
I grew up on Lou Malnati's and still love it. I get my fix by ordering it by mail via www.tastesofchicago.com. I must try Loui's. Thanks for the tip.
Aji Ten in Canton, MI
I've never been to Matsuchan. I know the posts on this board are all favorable. It is definately on my must-try list. We did stay with the plan to meet and eat at Aji Ten. It's easy access to 275 made it an ideal location for us out of towners to meet. We enjoyed cooking our food on the one-burner brought to our table. Like Matsuchan, tish is not a fancy place. Thank you for recommending Izakaya Sanpei. That will be our next rendez-vous.
Aji Ten in Canton, MI
Ajiten is located at 42087 Ford Rd. in Canton. We're looking for top notch Japanese food this weekend.
Aji Ten in Canton, MI
Have you dined at Aji Ten? How is it? Do you have any recommendations for menu items? Four of us are meeting for dinner next Saturday night. Are reservations necessary? If you can't recommend it, do you have another dining suggestion? Thanks for your insight.
Lemongrass Asian Bistro in Columbus
Thank you for steering me clear of Lemongrass. Both RJ Snappers and Rigsby's look promising. I plan to make reservations so that we can make the show on time. As for Pan-Asian places in 419, I haven't been to any and only know of one. It's called Tea Tree Asian Bistro in Perrysburg and I hear good things about it. It's on my must-try list. Uhockey is correct. It's slim pickin's around here. Diva is gone. Harissa at the Oliver House was excellent the one time I was there. I fear that it won't be around long because it's only open on Friday and Saturday nights. Unfortunately, the most recent health department restaurant inspection for the entire Oliver House complex was not good. All hope is not lost as the owners of Petit Fours Patisserie & Cafe of Perrysburg will be taking over the management at the Oliver House and opening its new restaurant on-site.
Lemongrass Asian Bistro in Columbus
Will be in Columbus overnight next month for a concert on a Monday night. The online menu for Lemongrass looks good. Do you recommend it? If not, please recommend some places that are an easy communte to/from the Southern Theater. Thanks for your help.
Where to get dessert after a show in Ann Arbor?
This Friday, two of us will be having dinner at Yotsuba (for the first time) and going to the Michigan Theater to see a live show. Where should we go after the show for dessert?
nice resturants in toledo ohio suburbs
For dim sum (before 4PM), try the New Empire on Airport Hwy in the Spring Meadows shopping center. Also, I just had an incredible Morrocan meal at Harissa in the Oliver House (only open on Friday and Saturday - fixed price).
