Restaurants that are fun for kids
Help! We have family coming into town and we are looking for a restaurant in downtown Boston that children ages 4 and 7 would enjoy. Hoping for participation or some cooking action like "Fire and Ice". Any ideas on what children like in Boston?
Recs on Best Stuffed Clams!
Can someone recommend where to buy really good stuffed clams(quohogs) in the metro Boston area. I am visiting relatives out of state and would like to bring some good quality local stuffed clams. These are the uncooked versions you find in fish/seafood markets.
Thanks
Summer 2009 openings and closings
Seems to be some construction activity at the previous location of "Circle" and "Bob's" on Columbus Ave. Looks like some renovations in progress. Any info on what's happening??
I'll give you 7 bucks for lunch--where would you spend it?
This is a great post - however it might be more challenging if you lowered the bar to $5. There are still a lot of good options - many already mentioned.

I agree - $7 at Guru will buy you the best tikka masala in town.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Marlborough
OK, enough hype on "5 Guys" !
I have been multiple times to the new Dedham 5 guys in Dedham as well as the location in Tampa. it doesn't matter if the beef is fresh ground, hand-formed, or hand massaged Kobe. The core problem is that as long as you have to cook ground beef to an internal temp. of 160 degrees, the burger is going to inedible. The Dedham location consistently overcooks the beef resulting in a dry, gray burger. The fresh toppings are great, but ultimately its all about the 'burger.
Trip Report - Jean George, Lupa, Saravanaas, & more
Great job. Thanks for your well-written report. You selected a diverse group of notable NYC restaurants and your report shows how much you can experience in just a relatively short trip. It makes me want to return to NYC.
Fried Chicken ... to soak or not?
I made this chicken last night for dinner. It was simple but took a few hours to make. It was really good. The chicken was moist and you could taste some of the things from the brine. The crust was crispy, flavorful and not greasy. I will make this again.
Fried Chicken ... to soak or not?
I have not fried chikcen before and would like to try this recipe, however I am concerned about heating oil and frying in a shallow cast iron pan. Can I use a dutch oven?
Maine shrimp
I have not seen them yet, but I am always unsure how to prepare them as they are fairly small. Any favorite recipes for Maine shrimp??
Adult Cocktail Party with a Kid's theme
I have hosted this type of party before with great success. Kobe beef tacos are a real crowd-pleaser. For drinks, you might want to try tequila shots with fizzies. Let us know how it goes!
Best Italian sandwich in Boston?
Can anyone tell me where to get a good, authentic Italian cold cut andwich/sub/grinder in downtown Boston? I have tried the north end and various delis, but most shops use poor quality bread and/or cold cuts. I'm looking for a good authentic NY Italian grinder. Any advice? Thanks for your replies.
