Loud, obnoxious patrons

Did you ask a staff member to say something? If not and nobody else in the restaurant asked, then I don't see how you can blame the staff for not saying something.

Dinner Tonight...Montgomery County.

Some of these suggestions may or may not be good, but some mentioned are hardly "between Phoenixville and Blue Bell" (more like in Blue Bell) or "along Germantown Pike".

If you like beer and good burgers, you could try Capone's on Germantown Pike in E. Norriton, but that's also much closer to Blue Bell than Phoenixville.

Mad Mex-Never Again

You are much more patient than I am. I would have walked out after a server didn't come over for 10 minutes, but, even if I did stay, I would not have waited an hour for my food to come.

Need help reproducing a Lee's Cheltenham Hoagie in Canada

I believe that some of the Lee's will ship hoagies. Why not check into that and have the real thing shipped?

Miraku on Bethlehem Pike in Springhouse Closed?

Xmas Eve Vic was closed so I ended up ordering Kumo instead. All I can say it was truly disappointing and some of the worst sushi I have had. Maybe half was eaten.

Started with the tuna tartare. Honestly it looked like it came right out of a can with some spicy mayo mixed in. It didn't taste much better.

Tropical roll (spicy tuna, white tuna, avocado topped with tempura banana) - roll was absolutely flavorless and banana was mushy with no signs of any panko breading

Angel roll (spicy tuna, crunch topped with avocado, eel and salmon) - again roll was flavorless. Crunch was anything but crunchy

Spicy girl roll (spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, crunch topped with tobiko) - another flavorless roll with soggy crunch

I know it was Xmas Eve, but for all items ordered to be poor to mediocre pretty much ensures that this will be a one and done for me. Back to Vic tonight.

IMO Ooka has not caught on as much as some of the others because it's not a BYO. Sushi isn't a cheap night out so when you add $10 glasses of wine or cocktails it gets even more expensive.

I love Vic's Tom Yum soup. It's definitely spicy.

Looking forward to dinner tonight. :)

Cheesesteak,

I am with you 100% about Bluefin. I thought the fish was good, but every time I went, whether it be for takeout or eating in, the service was DREADFUL.

As I wrote, Vic is my go to place, but Umai is also very good. Before Vic opened I would go to Fuji and Cho Cho San, but I since Vic opened I would say that 95% of my sushi dollars go there.

Glad you had a good experience there.

Yes, it is small, but everyone who works there is super nice. For me it's one of those places that I am happy to give my business to because of nice they are and how good the food is.

Cheesesteak,

I really wanted to like the new Sushikazu since it is literally 2 minutes from my house and I had such fond memories of it when Bruce was running it, but it was the worst sushi I have had, which includes supermarket sushi.

I was incorrect about Sushikazu. I drove by it last night and it was open. However, if you didn't see the "open" sign you would think it was closed since there are rarely any cars in their parking lot.

Vic down the street from there is my go to sushi place in the area.

BTW, it appears that Sushikazu in Blue Bell is now closed as well.

Buonissimo's in Montco

It's a shame that they don't have "real" breakfast. Blue Bell is in dire need of a really good breakfast place.

Taco Truck on top of Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting?

The fish tacos are excellent and are, by far, the best of the offerings from the truck.

Definitely worth going out of your way for a good, cheap lunch.

Vic Sushi in Spring House

Glad you liked the protein roll. It's one of my favorites. :)

I agree with you about the level of spice in the spicy rolls, so I now ask for them extra spicy.

Went there for dinner Friday night and had the special "Lisa" roll, but substituted pineapple for the asparagus and was very pleased with how it turned out.

Vic continues to be my go to sushi place on a weekly basis and could not agree more with minniebb more about the family. They are just super nice people.

Anything worthy in Abington/Jenkintown Area

What kind of food/atmosphere are you looking for?

If you are looking for a quick bite in a pub-like atmosphere I would highly recommend the Drake Tavern.

The best pizza anyplace between King of Prussia and Pottstown?

-1 on Franzones. Their sauce is just too darn sweet for my taste.

Also a -1 on Penny's. Everyone raved about how good it was and I thought it was some of the worst pizza I have ever had.

Valley Forge Pizza in Phoenixville is very good though.

Pho Thai Nam in East Norriton Moving

They are in the shopping center behind the Friendly's in the spot that at least 2 restaurants have failed. One was a Carribbean joint and the latest was a Asian fusion type place that lasted all of a few months.

I haven't been there in ages, but the Broad Axe isn't the kind of place that I would go for Valentine's Day.

Everest Grill in Broadaxe

We gave Everest a shot on Friday night. With most new places that I go to, I try to stick to basics and then, if it passes the basics test, I'll venture out to more exotic items.

We started with the papri chaat appetizer. I found theirs to be very tasty. The wafers were very crispy. My only complaint was that the onion was just a touch overpowering, but not a deal breaker.

We then shared an order of chicken tiikaa masala which is accompanied with rice. The masala was very flavorful, not too spicy (I might ask them to kick it up a notch next time). The chicken was perfectly cooked and the rice was the right consistency.

We also had an order of peshawari naan, which was very good.

All of that for $19 you can't beat it. I'll definitely give it another shot.

Everest Grill in Broadaxe

I don't know anything about it, but I'm hoping it's good. My last couple of meals at Aman's has been mediocre at best and takeout at Saffron on a Friday or Saturday night is a major pain in the rear, especially with all of the snow.

Special restaurant within 20 minutes of Blue Bell?

You never can go wrong at Parc Bistro, that's for sure. (BTW, it is "toddler friendly" as my parents and I have taken my son there ever since he was in a carrier and since they have pizza, there's always something there for him to eat).

Just out of curiosity, does your daughter go to Kindercare in Blue Bell? That's where my son goes. If that is where she goes, I wouldn't be surprised if we have seen each other at some point.

Capt'n Chucky's Crab Cakes

I've been pleasantly surprised with Capt'n Chucky's. I think the Smith Island, premium crab cakes and lobster cakes are very good. Plenty of meat and flavor. I also really like their broccoli salad and cole slaw, but personally didn't like the mac n cheese. Can't put my finger on what I don't like about it, maybe too much of a bacon flavor than the cheese.

I did see the seven fishes deal for Xmas Eve, but we do an untradtional sushi dinner for that night. No question that we will eat at least 7 fishes that night. :)
