Has anyone used any of those Oxygen sauces from Israel?

just pored it on and let it do its stuff, chicken was cut into pieces

Has anyone used any of those Oxygen sauces from Israel?

I used the Onion and Red Wine Glaze on my chicken for shabbos, and it was GREAT. Gave nice flavor and allowed the skin to crisp up and still retain flavor. We have alos used the Tasty Mediterranean Dressing-Garlic& Olive and found it less flavorful as the other. I am eager to try the new ones when they come to my area.

Shalom Bombay, appetizers and veggie kofta - what are the best choices?

I love all of their food. When I get the lunch special I munch on the vegetable pakoras until my food is ready and man they are yummy. Not to heavy, just the right amount of spice to get your palate salivating...the samosas are good, but very filling as they have heavy dough casings.

Lindt Chocolates

That's funny, cause I was just looking at them at the drug store while waiting on line wondering why they did not have a certification yet.

Chow-Friendly Yeshiva?

I went to Ohr Shamach (kollel) in Jerusalem. What I did, was get a monthly bus pass and went into town for as many cheap meals as I could since I could not live on soy for almost every meal. Also, learned to love chicken necks since meat is pretty scarce in yeshivas. But then again, I was there 25 years ago (man I just aged myself more then I realized with that statement).

Dakshin v. Shalom Bombay

I am a regular at SB NYC, and I get from the buffet often. I am sorry that your experience was so different then the ones I have had.

I enjoy the fritters, and like that they are not fried to oblivion, and lets you enjoy the vegetable for the flavor. They also, always have tandoori chicken in the buffet as well.

I still think it is the best bargain for meat lunch in midtown.

Boro Park Kosher Delight Closing

Oh man, I remember when it was one of the few meat places out there. Always a delight (HA HA) to get my parents to take us.

I loved thinking I was walking into Burger King/McDonald's and ordering a greasy burger like I saw on TV.

Junior Mints and Sugar Babies now OU-D Kosher

This is all I have to say about Junior Mints being kosher.

New "Mike's Pizzeria" taking over Aroma Pizza (Midtown Manhattan)

I ate there on Tuesday, Dec 28th. Got a slice of portobella Mushroom pizza and a slice of white pizza that had artichoke hearts on it, and it was really tasty. I am looking forward to trying more and exciting pizzas and other entrées,

Morningstar...a non kosher transition?

ARGHHHHH I use it for making my indian dishes.

Need to fine-tune my cholent for 12/16 (Meat question)

We just recently had a cholentfest in my minyan in SI, and my wife won with a Indian inspired cholent. Lamb and curry, with lentils instead of the usual bean mix. It even wowed me with the flavor. Also, what ever you do, marinate your meat over night in the fridge in a ziplock bag so the flavors really permeate the meat.

Pickled Lox

Pomegranate makes and sells it. They also have a nice pickled hearing/lox combo.

Remodel: Need appliance suggestions

I guess it is a like a cookie sheet holder. We just had a little gap between the under the sink cabinet and the corner cabinet, and we figured, hey why not but a little door there and we can store the blechs there.

Also, we have one of the Star K approved ranges. Sadly at the moment I do not remember which, but it has a digital pad for the oven, which my wife refuses to use on yontiff, so basically its just a big hot box which does not shut off.

My recommendation is to get one without digital buttons and the like.

Remodel: Need appliance suggestions

Best addition to our remodeled kitchen was the addition of a pot filler, and a little small cabinet for our blech.

New "Mike's Pizzeria" taking over Aroma Pizza (Midtown Manhattan)

Did it say what the fare would be? I am guessing if it is serving Breakfast it will be dairy of some sort.

will be at the snack and candy expo-what candy/snacks do you want to be kosher?

Mento's made in the US, so I can stop spending a fortune buying them at the kosher stores. Also, more REAL gum that does not lose flavor after thirty seconds.

Kosher Indian simmer sauces!

I have tried them, and they are nice. For the dairy sauces we used the Morningstar Chicken and a little basmati rice, and man, was I in indian heaven. Only problem is I can't find them in my stores anymore.

Also, while looking at the web site, only two are no under the OU, which stinks :-(

Passover Liquor - NY

I agree. Although some of the cognac is nice.

Passover Liquor - NY

I know that SKYVIEW Liquors has a list of everything in their store Kosher for Passover, with liquors on it as well.

New Entenman's product?

Those cupcakes made me not feel so bad about not having Hostess Cupcakes as a kid. Also, those marshmallow cakes were a shabbos breakfast staple in my house.

New Entenman's product?

If memory serves, once Entenmans went national, and was bought by another company they started not having kosher certification on new products.

Mr. Broadway

Is it just me, or has this venerable eating establishment gone down hill really fast. It has gotten to the point where I will not eat or order from them again. Yesterday, the wifey wanted sushi for dinner, and well, since I was ordering for dinner, might as well order for lunch.

My med rare burger came bloody rare, and the sushi was awful. The rice was still crunchy, and the fish was disgusting.

This is not the first time I have had problems with them. Went for a birthday lunch with a friend, and his well done burger was RAW inside. You would think after that happened they would comp the burger...NOPE, nothing. A sorry was all we got, and the wait staff was neglectful of us the whole time.

So, just wondering if this is just me, or are others noticing this as well.

taam tov mentioned in article in NY magazine 50 tastiest soups

Taam Tov regularly makes NY Magazines Best Of, or Cheapest Eats...someone there really likes it (but then again, some of us have been raving about for years)

Any one try the Panani Sushi at Eden Wok

I've had it, it is basically an inside out roll pushed flat and cut in squares. No big deal, just a regular roll. But free is the best kind of sushi...unless is it a day old.

Signature Caterers by Roz?

I was at a wedding there by Roz, and it was nice, but again, I was there for the friends getting married, not for Roz's food. Best way to see if you like her food, is to ask for samples. I did that when I got married at Crest Hallow CC....OK, I just wanted the free food.

Signature Caterers by Roz?

I mean that if you are looking for fancy, this is not it. Think of it as Blue Collar Catering instead of White Collar. You will get something decent, but people will not walk out saying WOW, THAT FOOD WAS AMAZING.

tootsie rolls kosher ...

I know someone very high up in a national kasrut organization, and he went personally to see about getting Tootise Rolls a haskacha, and he said that it would not happen because the company would not change a key ingredient. That was two years ago.

Signature Caterers by Roz?

They are based in Staten Island. They are exclusive the the Young Israel of Staten Island, and they do stuff at outside halls too. I know the owners, and they are nice people. The food is no frills, but they and their staff will work hard to please you.

Anyone tried Schnitzel Express?

I tried it yesterday, and it was packed. I had the Mediterranean Schnitzel and it was good, although as can be expected, it had salad and meat falling out as I ate it. I also orded the Home Fries (sweet potato and regular potato chips). Everything was tasty, and will go again. I did not like the fact that to add fried onions is $1 more.

El Gaucho - Went for fathers day with the whole family (20 some-odd people), and everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food. I recommend it, and highly recommend the Sangria.

My wife and I shared a mixed meat platter for two (kind of a steak house pupu platter), and we were stuffed. Appetizers were really nice and tasty. I would go back. I am still hoping that they will become like a true Argentinean steak house and have the waiters walk around with skewers of meat like I see from other true Argentinean steak houses)
