Place like Charm City Cakes in Bay Area?
Perfect Endings in Napa does beautiful specialty cakes. You can't really tell from their website, but I've seen some of their unusual cakes. One was of a big "crab boil" pot that was featured on one of Michael Chiarello's show with Jan Birnbaum.
I had them make a cake for my aunt with a huge waterlily on the top, not only was it beautifully made but it was the most delicious cake....www.perfectendings.com.
I once wanted them to do a replica of an old fashioned camera for my Mom's birthday--they took polaroids of it and then ultimately decided they couldn't do it justice and so declined. Too bad.
Breakfast in Napa?
Thanks for all the help, I've now got a good breakfast list to work from. I had never heard of Emmy Lou's, had forgotten about Fume and am also looking forward to the new Brix.
I got a little burned out on ABC since it seems like every person in Napa wants to meet there for coffee meetings, but have never tried it on a weekend. The lemon ricotta pancakes sound dreamy....
Breakfast in Napa?
It was the downtown Gilwoods in Napa. I like the SH one better, too.
So do you know the status of Gordon's? I heard Leslie Rudd bought it, will it be reopening anytime soon? Maybe bob will move back?
New York Hound’s looking for wine country recommendations!
I second ML's comments re: the CIA & John Ash. Greystone is definitely underwhelming and John Ash, well, it's hasn't been good for so long that I rarely hear anyone even mention it anymore.
If we love Mustard's Grill, we'll also love...???
If you like Cindy's food, her two other restaurants in St. Helena are very good: Go Fish and Cindy's Backstreet Diner. But it's quite a bit further up the road from Mustard's so may be out of your radius.
Bistro Don Giovanni has a great atmosphere out on the deck, good food and friendly crowd; and these Boards (and me) always recommend Ubuntu, which has some of the freshest vegetables around.
Breakfast in Napa?
After yet another disappointing breakfast at Gilwoods, I'm wondering where else can I get a decent breakfast in the town of Napa? I saw that Cafe Cicero has breakfast, has anyone tried it?
The Soscol Cafe is a little too greasy but there are times when it's just what the doctor ordered.
I like Boon Fly but during the summer there are too many tourists, so I'm in a quandry....
