Ford's Filling Station BBQ Sundays
I know Ford's doesn't have a lot of fans here but was curious if anyone had tried their summer BBQ sundays. I've always found Ford's overpriced & rather blah but must admit I am tempted by some good BBQ & beer on their backporch area.
Anyone been yet?
Just Tried The Hungry Cat
Like the space & cocktails. Loved the oysters. However, I was unimpressed by the crazily pricey Lobster Roll.
The Cat doesn't seem to have to many fans here but of the few out there, what do you recommend? They did have an interesting Haddock Stew on the menu.
Roadfood Question
Thanks for all the help.
The wife & I just got back from Sedona and we had a wonderful time. The food-based highlight was certainly Cafe Elota, which is probably the best mexican food I have ever had. Simply amazing. The Pumpkin Flan for desert. We wanted to stay an extra day just to taste that again. I especially wanted to thank elizabeth7 for mentioning Apizza Heaven which was a real joy. Great locals place with terrific pizza and atmosphere.
Oh, I highly recommend to anyone the Lodge at Sedona if you are staying in town. It's pricey but the gourmet breakfasts alone make it worth while.
Roadfood Question
Thanks for the reply.
Reds looks great. Is there anything particularly tasty on the menu?
We have also heard really good things about The Asylum in Jerome. Any thought?
Black Whale
Has anyone out there been to this Creole-themed restaurant on La Brea in West Adams? I pass it on my way home and have been thinking of trying it out but I can 't find out a thing about it except for a brief mention at Yelp.
Roadfood Question
My wife & I are driving from Los Angeles to Sedona around the new years and are hoping to find out some interesting places to eat along the trip. We are taking the 40 out as we are stopping in the Grand Canyon and then taking the 10 back to LA. Any ideas? Also, any most hit places in Sedona.
Best Burger in Los Angeles
As a westsider, I go with the Apple Pan (also pie), Houston's (plus beer) and The Counter (also with beer plus shakes).
I have an Apple Pan question for the board. I usually order my Hickory Burger without lettuce as it's just too big a wedge for me but this leaves the burger a little thin. Has anyone asked for a double burger at the Pan? Do they even do this?
Any Fans of The Slice?
I've been to Abbot's a few times. It's good (darn pricey) but iI don't thiink it's as good as their Venice location so I was hoping Slice might be an upgrade.
Any Fans of The Slice?
I am stuck near SMC thursday nights and was thinking of giving The Slice down on Ocean Park a try. Not a lot on the board about it (probably not a good sign) but I was wondeirng if there were any opinions out there.
Baby Blue's BBQ
It's great. My wife & I went ther after seeing it on the Food Network and we are really happy we did. The ribs are great but what really linger sin my memory is an amazing banana pudding.
Southern Indian
Does anyone know a godd southern Indian restuarant on the Westside? The wife & I have a friend coming into town who we were going to take to Bombay Cafe but she requested southern Indian. To be honest, I don't even know what the difference is between southern & northern Indian.
Bombay Cafe - very good food, but not a good value
This pretty much sums up my feelings about Bombay. The food is great, especially the Samosas & Nan. However, It's just too expensive except for a special night out.
I hear great things about All India Cafe on Santa Monica but I haven't has a chance to try it yet. Anyone out there?
Howard's Bacon & Avacado
Any visitors to this hamburger joint in Culver City? I am curious by wary.
