Chocolate tea, which is the best?

I bought Harney and sons. Both their chocolate and Soho blend ( chocolate and coconut).I love both, then again, I am a huge fan of many of their teas. The supervision is widely accepted and their teas are AMAZING.

A bacon alternative? ??? Think I may have found it.....

So, MaTi would you say the sweetness is a strong negative or positive with the syrup ?? I still haven't even decided what to make but am leaning towards quiche.

A bacon alternative? ??? Think I may have found it.....

I dont see why not. I used their sugar free cinnamon and brown sugar to bake with. Any suggestions on what to make ?? I think I am so excited/overwhelmed with options that I not making anything...lol

A bacon alternative? ??? Think I may have found it.....

Thanks rockycat....you are correct. Only some of their syrups are dairy as well.

A bacon alternative? ??? Think I may have found it.....

I just bought from Torani bacon flavored syrup to try. Any suggestions on what to make first ?

I think your link is wrong....nothing there about the Lakehouse in the Catskills.

Ben and Jerry's Pesach Ice Cream

I am soooo jealous, if for no other reason that its a novelty to serve your kids. Thanks for the link. I would love to try thr charoses flavor.......;)

Chicken Soup Recipe- KOSHER

I use only skinless chicken thighs but I use turkey necks as well. Sometime I add a strip of flanken also. As for vegtables, jn an 8qt pot I use 3 loose carrots, 4 celery stalks, 2 smallish parsnips, 1 big onion whole, 2 big zuchinni, and 1 celery knob (root). I skim all the scum on a low boil then I will add salt pepper and some consomme. I feel the consomme really adds depth that uou cant get with meat and vegetable. I always make my knaidlach from a mix because thats fail proof.

kosher for passover protein powder ????

Actually there are a few heimish brands that do make protein powders, either pareve or cholov yisroel, so I think your assumptions are wrong on that one. That's why I was going with the kitnious route. Otherwise why wouldn't these same companies do a KP run? ? I guess we will see if anyone else has any more info. Thanks for responding though! !

kosher for passover protein powder ????

I have begun looking for this and am coming up with nothing. Is protein powder kitnious and therefore there is no KP brand? Any ideas? TIA

Your Favorite Kosher Cookbooks

Yes they came out with volumes II and III. They first volume is out of print. I have let my friends copy it then send the Yeshiva a check as I asked them if that would be ok. It really is such an awesome, very simple but always delicious source. You can call the yeshiva directly, perhaps they reprinted it. They are in Kew Gardens, NY. The other volumes aren't nearly as great,IMHO.

Your Favorite Kosher Cookbooks

It's not a foodies cookbook but it is the most fabulous basic kosher cookbook, on par with Spice and Spirit......the Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva's Tuv Taam, volume one. Truly every recipe a winner.

Chocolate Tea ???

Thank you all.....now my problem is which yo try first! ! ;)

Chocolate Tea ???

Thank you all...I can't wait to try ALL of these suggestions....lol. Anybody live in/ near the 5 towns and knows where to buy these? ?? I've looked in all the local stores, kosher and regular, didn't see any. Any other suggestions? ? TIA

Chocolate Tea ???

Does anyone know of a reliable kosher certified chocolate tea? I have seen them a lot recently, but can't find one with hashgacha.....even from the brands that do have supervision on other flavors. Have you tasted one before. ? Any reccomendations?

kosher pareve macarons at kosherfest

That sounds amazing....any further info on where we can try them ?? What other interesting, new, and exciting foods were showcased ?? I love your posts, keep them up !

Good Certified Loose Tea ???

Just to let you all know, I went to Haney and Son's in SoHo today and had an amazing experience. I was able to smell all the teas I wanted and could taste 1 if I chose to, as well. The salesgirl was helpful and very patient, making suggestions based on my likes. 1 salesgirl was impatient and a bit snippy, but I just focused on the more patient. And friendly one. I definately recommend the teas and the store.

Good Certified Loose Tea ???

Just to follow up, I have decided to go with Haney and Sons as I had their tea at the Hershey Hotel over Sukkos, and thought it was really something special. Thanks for the link, I had no clue they were in SoHo and I will be going next week. Thanks Chowhounds for all the great ideas !

Good Certified Loose Tea ???

Thanks for replying. Yeah, I know unflavored teas don't need certification, but I'm more concerned with the possibility of bugs in my dried tea, hence, I want the certification. :)

Thanks for the lead, I'm not familier with the store, I don't think we have them in NY, but will check out the link. Thanks again !

Good Certified Loose Tea ???

I am looking to get a few different types of loose tea and when I did a search, a few companies came up. I was wondering if anyone has a preference to one of the companies and why. Also, if you had a bad experience and would stay away from a certain company. I am not looking for recommendations on a flavor, just a company. TIA.

What stays hot?

I like to make a chicken enchilada casserole......I use cooked chicken that I previously cooked and froze, corn tortillas, enchilada sauce (store bought), canned corn, and canned black beans. Layer like a lasagna. Freeze until needed and put straight into oven for about 1 1/2-2 hours. Before reheating you can add a cup of water to ensure it doesn't burn. My husband and I like it really spicy but the kids don't so we will then add my home made pico de gallo to our plates to spice it up. Yummmm !

Please help me with this: Is the Raleigh hotel okay? Food, clean?? What about Kutschers?

We were there 3 years ago for Shabbos Nachamu. This is what I can tell you about our shabbos. The 1st room they assigned us truly made me want to vomit, seriously, it made my skin crawl. I went back to the busy front desk with a copy of their ad in my hand and told them the room assigned me DOES NOT look like this picture, I WANT this picture. They then gave me the key to another room and told me to go have a look and if it was ok, they would switch me. It was better, not like the picture, but definately acceptable. We are yeshivish, and the crowd was mostly Chasidic. It was ok, except for when I asked one of the front desk workers what time shabbos goes out and she said, "when its over "...REALLY ??? What"s that about...
The food was plentiful and very good, all my kids enjoyed. The tea room was pathetic for a hotel, just hot water, coffee, and tea, no snacks. My kids were extremely diappointed as they are used to MUCH more elaborate tea rooms. Overall, it was ok, but we haven"t been back since. Hope this helps some.

Cool, to a 13 year old, Manhatten restaurants ????

Well, I am embaressed to tell you after all the fabulous suggestions and research on my part...the graduation ended later than we thought and we were too hungry to drive into the city so we ended up at Hapisga, in Queens. I have to say, my 5 kids really do enjoy the place. We arrived for late lunch/early dinner so it wasn't crowded and the waitstaff was very attentive to my children's picky orders. So while it wasn't 'cool', like I had wanted, it was a fabulous meal and experience. Thanks again for all your suggestions !

Kosher sushi at Costco

I bought this a month or so back, and the avacdo didn't turn (that) brown, and it looked the same after a few days. However, it is solely my opinion, but the taste was horrible ! It has a parever cream cheese added to the rolls and my kids thought it was horrible...again, only my opinion. If it was a regualr veggie roll it would definately be worht it.

Cool, to a 13 year old, Manhatten restaurants ????

Thank you all so much....I knew my Chowhounds would come through ! Though we are still deciding milchig or fleishig, I have narrowed my choices down and will let my daughter decide on Sunday. Thanks again !

Cool, to a 13 year old, Manhatten restaurants ????

My daughter graduates Junior High this Sunday and would like to celebrate by going into the city for dinner. We live in the 5Towns, and barely ever venture into the city so aside from the well known places, I don"t know many restaurants. I want cool, not stuffy, and either milchig or fleishig, we are open. Thanks !

found OU-D tootsie pops

I ended up calling Tootsie Roll Customer Service and they said the product, TootsiePops, are kosher (OU-D) even without the OU-d on the package. The rep said there was no formulation change, just the need for the kashrus symbol to be printed. I had my first one standing right there in the store !! I am one happy camper !!

found OU-D tootsie pops

Thanks Koshergourmetmart ! Yes, I am looking near that box for a stamped OU-D, the only stamp I even see on the back of the bags is their code, a letter followed by a bunch of numbers...no OU-D....:(. Will keep you posted, as I feel I'm becomming a Tootsie Pop stalker...LOL

found OU-D tootsie pops

I was wondering if anyone else has found them in NY ? I have checked many places in the 5 Towns and also Penn Station to no avail. I keep finding the orange bags that have 15% more free, but no OU-D. I'm hoping someone out there has been more successful and will share the location...:)

found OU-D tootsie pops

This is the 2nd time you have made me SO happy !! Thank you for posting. I've been looking everywhere and haven't seen them kosher. Hopefully, this means they will be here in the 5 towns soon.
