Anyone know where in the Burbs (montco) that I can get Fastnachts

The Dutch Oven Bakery on Ridge Pike in Limerick makes pretty good ones!

Does Wawa still have golden sauce for their hoagies?

I've been getting food from Wawa all my life and never heard of this golden sauce you speak of.

Iron Hill Brewery Montco ??

I go to the one in Phoenixville and think their food is decent pub grub type food. The pizzas are pretty good as are the mussels. IMO their beer is pretty average, though.

Good quality food near Audubon/Oaks?

Phoenixville is your best bet for sure. Anything else in that radius is either a pizza/cheesesteak/hoagie shop or a chain. Iron Hill Brewery, Molly Maguires, Thai L'Elephant, Black Lab Bistro, Daddy Mims are all good choices.

Has First Bites bitten the dust?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's gone. That location is the kiss of death; you simply cannot get in or out of there very easily most days with the traffic on Germantown Pike. They should just demolish it now to spare future attempts at making a go there which will keep failing.

Saloon - Jeffersonville - CLOSED

I too went to the "new" Saloon for lunch one day and was like one of 2 tables in that big place the entire time, and it was way overpriced. $12 for Mrs T's Perogies that the cook threw in the fryer, ummm, no.

Where to get good sausage?

Fresh and smoked Kielbasa from Lachowicz in Bridesburg is the BEST! My Grandmom and aunts all came from there and I always made sure they had it ready when I came to visit.

Appalachian Brewing Company - Collegeville

From what I read, the Collegeville location will have most of it's "regular" beer lineup brought in from Harrisburg, and the Collegeville location will only have a small brewing setup for specialty/seasonal beers.

Appalachian Brewing Company - Collegeville

It's for sure a different setup than I remember from the old New Road Brewhouse, where the central bar dominated the space, in this new setup the bar is much smaller and off to the side where it's not the focus. I still think they will need to heavily advertise and work on getting some signs out on Main Street, as it's an odd building in an odd spot not easily found if you don't know the area well.

Here is my review of when we checked them out 2 weeks ago%3

Tried the 8 beer tasting flight and it was decent. The IPAs were notably good. Ordered food; the buffalo wings (hot) and the Fire Jumper Burger, ordered medium well. The wings were almost of a boiled consistency with virtually no crispness and were not very spicy for being "hot wings" Strike one. The burger arrived before I was barely 1/3 of the way into my wings and was well done and not medium well as requested. The chili lime mayo the burger was supposed to come with was MIA as well and was only brought out after pointing this out to the apologetic waiter. Strike two. Overall, I give them a solid B+ for the beer and a solid C for the food, but I will chalk this up to opening month logistics and staff issues to be worked out. I've worked in the restaurant field, and will try again with the same items in 1-2 months. If they haven't gotten their act together by then, I'm not sure if they will make it, considering the area competition.

Brauhaus Schmitz: Didn't blow me away as hoped

This is my review I had created for a review site after eating there Saturday night. Overall, it was decent, but really didn't wow me like I had hoped.

A little slice of Germany right here in Philly, not bad.

One thing off the top, this place is LOUD. If you are looking for intimate, quiet dining, look elsewhere. If you want a place as loud and boisterous as an Oktoberfest Munich tent, then step right in. The female waitstaff wearing the traditional "Dirndl" dresses was a nice touch, although in Germany, outside of tourist traps and Oktoberfest, this is not seen anymore.

I lived in Germany courtesy of the military for 4 years, so I know my German food pretty well. This place is generally pretty Southern Germany/Bavaria authentic, and having the actual German menu names with the English translation was a nice touch. The beers are also really good, although I'm not sure why a place billing itself as a German beer hall would be serving Belgian lambics and witbiers. They should keep it to real German beer, and American beers in the German style.

I had the Wurstplatte with the Nurnberg Bratwurst( pork) and Weisswurst (veal) along with sides of Spaetzle (egg dumplings, similar to pasta) and Red Cabbage. The Spaetzle was NOT how you would get it in Germany; it was very dry and fried almost crispy like home fries. Real German Spaetzle is soft and tender and buttery and just lightly browned. The Red Cabbage was a bit disappointing; it had the right sweet-sour vinegary flavor going on, but had a LOT of spice like nutmeg or cloves in in, which I don't recall tasting in the red cabbage in Germany. My Bratwurst arrived raw inside, which I sent back, and was really good once I got a properly cooked one. The Weisswurst was also pretty good and tasted like the real deal.

Overall it was decent, but I wasn't blown away like I was hoping and being that I come from the suburbs an hour away, am not sure if I'll be coming to this place that much.

Tomato Pie in Philly Burbs?

Another vote for Corropolese!

Kabob Cafe -Wayne

I think they went back to South Africa where Andre was from.

Appalachian Brewing Company - Collegeville

New brewpub opening up in the space of the long-defunct New Road brewpub in Collegeville, right behind the Collegeville Diner. I'm looking forward to another beer oriented place in the area!

I heard from someone who works in that same building that the owners have very deep pockets and basically gutted the old New Road space and started over with everything; new tanks, lines, everything.

My concern ins that this building is in an odd spot and not easily seen from Main Street, hopefully they will have good signage and the word gets out there.

Kabob Cafe -Wayne

I worked at Sweet Daddy's right after the new owners took over and was there about 1.5 years. It's sadly long gone now. I was the guy who made the ice cream in the production facility in the alley almost directly behind Aux Petit Delices. V-2 Sammy, Cinnamon, 3 Ring Circus, Teaberry, Cappuccino, S'mores, you name it, I made it!

Dinning in King of Prussia

Thai L'Elephant on Bridge St in Phoenixville has great Thai food, I love their Green Curry and Pad Thai.

Kabob Cafe -Wayne

Love them! I usually get the Kabab Koobideh platter, which is a good amount of food for the money. Love their side salads as well.

Laban's Bell System [moved from Philadelphia]

I really, really get the impression that if Laban, for whatever reason, decides he likes you, you will get a great review. You also could have great food, but if he has already decided he doesn't like you, watch out.

The best pizza anyplace between King of Prussia and Pottstown?

My 4 absolute favorites in the region you specified:

Bridgeport: Franzone's
East Norrition: Charlie's
Limerick: Penny's
Pottstown: Ice House

Odd experience at Warrington Wegman's

I've run into this as well at the Collegeville Wegmans; last year when they first opened up until recently if I had a few grocery items and some hot food to go and a six pack, it was fine. The last time I tried that a few weeks ago, the checkout girl adamantly refused to check me out and directed me to the regular checkouts for my grocery items. I guess they had a crackdown recently by the powers that be. I don't see what the big deal is here?

Collegeville Bakery Deli Americanized Hoagies

Don't bother with them then, and hit the Primo Hoagies at Egypt & Trooper Rds just a few miles away. Real meats like prosciutto in their hoagies and a lot of it!

Phoenixville

You don't like Tex's? Hmmm...I think his ribs and brisket are pretty damn good myself. Not crazy about his overly chili powder-tasting sauce, but that's a minor thing, IMO.

corned beef without nitrites?

How do you "corn" something without nitrates? The nitrates are what pickle the meat, and all the so-called "no nitrate" products use naturally occurring nitrates found in celery, etc. So, in other words if you want to eat corned beef, you have to be willing to eat the nitrates along with it!

King of Prussia

I would recommend Wayne and Phoenixville as good places to start. There isn't much in KoP itself that I know of that isn't a chain.

Free admission day at that garden show in oaks but where to eat?

Yes, that immediate area pretty much sucks for good food, other than a couple chain places and pizza places, there is nothing. HOWEVER, Oaks is not all that far from Phoenixville where the selection is good, I would head there, it's maybe 10-15 minutes away from the Expo Center.

Czerw's Kielbasa in Port Richmond..

I did not realize there were two of them! I'll have to get down there and stock up then. Yes, the one I remember was at Thompson & Lefevre, my grandmom lived on Lefevre St.

Czerw's Kielbasa in Port Richmond..

I grew up eating Lachowitz's kielbasa in Bridesburg as that was my grandmother's neighborhood, but according to my aunt who still lives there, they have been taken over by Korean owners and the kielbasa just isn't the same anymore. :(

Chef Jim Coleman Out Already At World Cafe Live?

I saw this blurb about Jim Coleman, who has left Normandy Farm in Blue Bell to oversee the food operation at World Cafe Live, but apparently is already gone there too. Does anyone have any more info about this?

From Michael Klein's The Insider blog:

"...As for Jim Coleman himself: After leaving Normandy last year (and his radio show at WHYY), he spent a hot moment at World Cafe Live in University City but is between jobs..."

Ugh, waited to long to make a reservation for Valentines weekend!

IMO, Valentine's Day is NOT a good night to get out to explore new restaurants. Just my opinion, but from working in the industry, what you will get are packed restaurants, harried staff, and limited menus. Not exactly the best impression of a place you may be visiting for the first time! Same thing goes for New Years Eve.

What Make the Philadelphia Hoagie Different - The Results

That looks great and very authentic! Good job.

French Food for Special Occasion?

I've heard good things about Parc:
