Canned Beers for a Beer Tasting
My husband, who scoffed at can beer, says his absolute favorite of any beer is Snake River Brewery's Pako IPA
PLEASE CRITIQUE: NYC foodies w 3 year old want fantastic, non-touristic meals
Since you'll be uptown on day 2, I would ride the streetcar to Audubon Park andwalk through the park to the zoo. If you don't have too much time be sure and go through the La. swamp exhibit. You'll see things there you won't find at other zoos.
Just a thought, from a mom who's 11yo who has done Jazz Fest every year since she was 6weeks old (she's getting checked out of school today!)- having a 3 yo out at jazz fest all day and then asking them to sit through a nice dinner may be too much. Wouls a sitter be possible?
Breakfast near market or downtown
I was thinking of taking the streetcar there and then walking over to EMP. Is that doable? I figure I could walk off some biscuit. ;-)
Breakfast near market or downtown
Thanks so much. Now I have more breakfasts than I have mornings. ;-) I am definately adding Le Pichet and Dahlia Workshop. Do you know if there's a bus from market area to Dahlia Workshop? I'm still learning the bus website.

Breakfast near market or downtown
I'll be staying at the waterfront Marriott with my sister who's on business and having work breakfasts, and I'd like to start the day with something quick, delicious, and different without having to travel too far. I prefer savory to sweet. I want to try The Crumpet Shop and Piroshky. Any other suggestions? I'll also take my sister out for breakfast on Monday morning and I was thinking maybe Cafe Campagne or 13 Coins, but I'd love any other ideas for that also. Thanks!

Sushi downtown or close
I will be tagging along with my sister on a business trip next month and am having one dinner on my own. I thought sushi would be great. Is Shiro the best way to go, or are there any other recommendations. I'm an adentuous eater and thought ordering the omikase would be the way to go. I don't mind taking a cab, but don't want to go out too far.

dog friendly dining in Eureka Springs
We're taking a short side trip to the Buffalo River on the way home from Chicago to New Orleans. I'm considering driving to Eureka Springs one afternoon, but we'll have our dog with us. It looks like a good city to just walk around, and was hoping for some outside dining. Can anyone reccomend a dog friendly restaurant in ES?
Road trip from New Orleans to Michigan - recommendations?
I asked a similar question on the board recently- we're going from NO to Chicago. One thing I had considered doing in KY (different trip that didn't happen) was going to one of the boubon distillaries. Maker's Mark looked interesting. Also southern Illinois has some interesting natural areas. We usually stop in Memphis for ribs, so that's out.
I would consider posting this on Fodors travel board, too. They could help with hotels and such.
Headcheese
I think Creole Country has the best hogshead cheese- full of meat! Vaughn's company is a smallish shop in mid city. Maybe not in a garage, but close :-). Also, you can get it at Dorignac's.
Good chow in southern Illinois?
We'll be coming up I-57. Not so picky about genre- we usually eat regional when traveling, but don't know exactly what that would mean in Illinois. We love ethnic eateries, hole-in-the-wall, etc. What is regional to southern Illinois? Home-cooking? Small town diner?
Good chow in southern Illinois?
Second leg of road trip from New Orleans to Chicago will put us in S. Illinois around lunch time. We usually do this trip in one day, eat in Memphis, and drive straight through this area. This time its two days with a stop at the Wickliffe mounds in Ky. Anyone have any ideas not too far off I-57??
Pho Tau Bay in Metairie...Closed? Also, review of Vietnam Cuisine
Speaking of Vietnamese, is there anywhere besides no east and the westbank to get banh mi (sp?), the sandwiches? I tried Saigon but they only serve regular poboys.
Healthy Eating; Restaurant Etiquette
Excellent time of year for crawfish, shrimp and oysters.
Healthy Eating; Restaurant Etiquette
Depnding on when your here, boiled crawfish are a great coice. And, you can get boiled shrimp any time of the year. Even though its summer I had raw oysters at Acme last night and they were delish!
balls!
Sorry. Pork, liver, rice with seasonings. It's stuffed into a natural casing, cooked and eaten like a sausage. If you're ever down there, try it. Good stuff.
balls!
In SW Louisiana they make boudin balls- instead of stuffing the boudin mixture into casing they make balls and fry. Usually served with some kind of sauce for dipping. Very good. You can find them at Jazz Fest in New Orleans every year.
New Orleans girl needs dinner recs
Ok. Hubby works in restaurant in N.O. classified as contemporary creole, dinner for 2 about $200, give or take. His boss has offered to buy us dinner at a comparable restaurant while we vacation in Chicago. I've done some checking and am looking into Blackbird (leaning towards here), Spring (close 2nd), Mk, Northpond, Custom House, and Spiaggia. Some other restraurants looked great, but trying to stay somewhat contemporary, not too ethnic, since this is for "research". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
