Restaurant Recos in Manhattan

One of my new obsessions is the Khao Soi at Pig and Khao. Its a curry broth noodle dish which I find to be extremely flavorful with layers of curry goodness. They serve up some mean cocktails too.

Do you like Sushi? I really enjoyed Sushi Azabu's chef's counter. Neta is also really great sushi.

If you are eating Chinese food for Tgiving may I suggest Red Egg or Shanghai Asian Manor? Both are offering the best in Chinatown in my opinion.

Replacement for Jean-Claude

Hi Nokitsch, I too am mourning the closing of Jean Claude in soho, it was such a great spot and consistently good!

A nearby option would be Bistro Le Amis which has a great prix fixe deal. +1 for Le Philosophe but its a bit pricier I think entrees in the high 20s.

Dinner at Khe-Yo (Saturday night at 10pm) - Thoughts on cocktails after?

If you are into scotch and brandy I would highly recommend the Brandy library which should be pretty close by. I really like Pegu Club which is about a 10 min walk to the edge of Soho/Noho. I would get a resy for both even if just for two as they tend to be popular.

What's the best restaurant possible for next Friday night, or Saturday lunch?

What about just walking into Per Se Salon? They serve a great a la carte menu there and I would imagine for one should not be hard.

1 Dinner/1 Lunch Staying in Soho

I highly recommend Ushiwakamaru for Sushi if you are near Soho. They do a great 38 dollar sushi combo which includes toro piece and uni.

Le Philosophe in Noho is a great french with a very reasonable wine list, amazing frites!

Anniversary Dinner in NYC: Marea, A Voce, Corton, or Aldea?

Of the four mentioned, I have been to A Voce, Corton and Aldea. Have not been to Marea, but have heard good things about it. I think Corton is one of best restaurants in NYC right now, food was excellent and the 3 course prix fixe includes an incredible amount of amuses. I was just there last night and the Wagyu beef had to be one of best things I have eaten in the past 12 months.

I would also add Gilt into the list, the room is absolutely gorgeous and the food/service was one of the best I have had in the City. A bit on the pricey side though, but well worth the cost in my opinion.

Napa/SF trip help

Hello everyone, apologies in advance if this is a dumb question, but I really wanted to try out the French Laundry during my upcoming trip to Napa (leaving this Friday from NYC) but I have yet been able to make a reservation. Since I am only traveling with my gf, would it be at all possible to book something same day? Has anyone snagged a reservation due to a last minute cancellation, if so, any tips?

Also, is Bouchon the next best thing in Napa? Any other great must try places in Napa and SF?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Foodie B-day Dinner

I think Kuma Inn is a really great deal with some excellent cuisine. They also do BYO if I remember correctly. Also a fascinating experience given the open kitchen.

Inoteca is always excellent and I think the prices are very reasonable.

I like Blaue Gans a ton, though I have only done brunch there several times but the food is excellent.

One that hasnt been mentioned that has some great italian is Po in the W. Village.

Great Sushi in NYC

Depends on your budget and your preference for decor/atmosphere. Nobu is trendier but I think the sushi is only okay. Their cooked dishes are really good though. On a sushi only perspective, I think Sushi Yasuda has some of the freshest fish in NYC. Cost is also reasonable. However, the best and most creative sushi in town has to be the Omikase at Gari, in my opinion, though it is a bit pricier (100/person I think) and the decor is lacking.

Nice Green Bo - still don't get it

I am so depressed that I live next to Chinatown and there is a lack of great places now. I agree that Nice Green Bo is overrated, I think the primary reason ppl like it is because its been reviewed by numerous magazines/zagats etc. I think the food is only okay.

Unfortunately now that Moon House is gone (at least last I cked) there is a lack of great Shanghainess food in C town.

Best Restaurants Without the High NYC Costs

Oooh, there are so many great places in the city. I think the west village has some really great places, my favorite affordable place is Po, which Batali used to work at I believe. The apps are around 10 to 15 and the mains are all around 20. Great value and the food was amazing.

I know that Yasuda is always mentioned, but the lunch prix fixe is a great deal and I think you can get out of there for 50 a head if you hold back just a tad on the order for dinner.

Pls help, 8 guys, 1 vegetarian

Hello everyone, I've been lurking on this board for a while now and really enjoy everyone's reviews and posts! One of my friends is getting married and we are all going out to dinner in the city at the end of July. Only issue is that my friend is vegetarian and the other 7 of us are not! Any ideas on where a good place has good vegetarian food in addition to great meat dishes?

Some info: looking for something not so stuffy, not too expensive (maybe 40 to 50 a person). we are also going to be in the LES after dinner, if that helps with location. I was thinking Italian but can do anything else if you guys think of anything good.

Thank you!!!
