The state of coffee in Austin
I to am from CA (southern) When I got here about 3 years ago I was shocked to find that good coffee is hard to find. They have a lot of Starbucks out here. I live in Round Rock which is North of Austin. I did find a couple 1. Cafe Java ( great service and and good coffee. They roast there own) 2. Common Grounds ( kid friendly and besides that great service and quite) If you want to venture out a little there is also one out in Hutto : Java Rocks Coffee House.
Rhubarb
Yes food prices are rising. I can not believe how much some of this food is. The meat and dairy. I am thinking about buying a hog and a cow and having them processed then just buying an upright freezer. Then that is taken care of. I am also buying an air-car that can go from CA to NY on one tank of air/gas. We are having solor panels put in next week that way we can sell power back to the grid. We all have to do things to cut down on prices that are rising.
What is your region famous for?
BBQ, Smokers,and don't forget the pride. (HAHAHA)
I think one of the better BBQ place would be a place called Rudy's or right in the back yard.
What Were/Are Your Favorite Fresh Food Living Situations?
I agree with CA, Europe food is so awesome. I lived in Germany for 4 years and when coming back to the states (11yrs. ago) I have always been looking for that taste that they have there. I have not been able to have anything compare to the food that was in Germany. I am just happy I do not have to buy honey or salt, and the drinks are bigger then a swallow. LOL
Breakfast question
Have you tried powdered eggs? When at work just pop them in the Microwave for 2 mins.
