Alice Bakery and Confectionary at 129 South Main Street in North Wales

I was eyeing the butter cake but chocolate won. I will just have to go back and get it! I've been enjoying the bread so much and Dennis is so nice, what a find!

Alice Bakery and Confectionary at 129 South Main Street in North Wales

We were also there this afternoon. I got the last sticky bun, opera cupcake and a chocolate cupcake. We also wanted a baugette but they were all out. Dennis cut up a ciabatta for us to try and it was the best one my husband and I ever had! We bought one and it is already half gone! We can't wait to go back. And the cupcakes... well we were scrapping the wrappers with our teeth...

Pho Thai Nam in East Norriton Moving

I love them.... I just wish they served Bah Mi!!!

The Dandelion

I was there on wednesday and my friend and I sat right next to the fire on the second level. Given the weather this was a wonderful seat, cozy and warm. We shared the Welsh Rarebit, lovely but I was expecting something gooey... My friend had the fish and chips and loved them, I had a bite and the batter was so tasty and crisp and the fish was tender. I had the chicken with bubble and squeak... extremely tasty. No room for dessert, Next time I will get starterd so I can try the dessert! I will be back!

Morel Mushrooms

Does anyone know where I can get some morel mushrooms? Is it too early still? I live in Montgomery Co. Thanks!

Who's been to Noble American Cookery since Brinn Sinnott took over?

Was there on Tuesday, it was ok. I got the chicken and it was a beautiful presentation but the flavor was ok, nothing to write home about. My companion's duck was very good. the portions were small for the price. Ok would be the overwhelming word that comes to mind. I miss Cibucan, the restaurant that used to be in that location.

Smiles Cafe

I really like Erawan which is a few blocks away at 123 S. 23rd St. (23rd and Sansom St.). They give you a salad, appitizer and main course for around $8 at lunch! Great deal. I think it is $15 for dinner. The food is great, the decor is nice (and very orange) and the service friendly.

New Thai Restaurant Coming to Chestnut Hill!

Does anybody have any news on this? Is it happening?

Pho & More - North Wales?

Carrott Cake

The Night Kitchen in Chestnut Hill has the best carrot cake I have ever had!!

Slate Burger

We tried to go to Whisky Village last night as I was craving a burger. There was a 2 hour wait so we went a block over to Slate on 21st between Chestnut and Sansom. We shared an order of poutine (sp?) and I had the Slate Burger with carmelized onion and boursin cheese, it was amazing!! The meat was so tender, it was served on a brioche roll perfectly cooked, My sister had the stuffed burger, it was filled with cooked short rib and topped with blue cheese. She was in love. There was no wait, and my burger was $10 (including the toppings). I have no idea if the poutine was authentic or not but it was really tasty! There were so many other things on the menu that I can't wait to try!

Bulk Cheesecloth?

I was surprised to see how much cheesecloth cost at the grocery store. Does anyone know where I can find bulk cheesecloth at a good price.
Thanks!

Apple Picking near Oreland, PA?

Hello,

It has been years since I went apple picking and I would love to go again. Are there any recommendations for places near Oreland (Montgomery County)? And what are the prices like? I have visions of apple butter and pies but I can't break the bank. Thanks!

Indian Grocers

Jeeze, I just mentioned it, if you read the post I was mainly talking about the PA store!!!

Pennsylvania Dutch Festival at Reading Terminal Market this weekend

Does anyone know the date for the fall festival?

Indian Grocers

For what it is worth I am 1/2 Indian...I go to the Patel Market in Montgomeryville...it is fairly close to the Assi Market. It is fine and has a decent selection plus the blue Pear''s soap my husband loves so much. I used to go to Subzi Mehndi (sp?) in Edison, NJ back when I lived near there. Oak Tree Rd is Little India and I would recommend you go for a culinary day trip.... there are lots of non-food shops as well.

Lunch near 22nd and South St.?

I need to find a nice, inexpensive place for a casual lunch near 22nd and South Streets. The place really can't be more than a block or two from that area. Thanks!

Opinions on a $11.00 House Margarita at El Sarape in Blue Bell

I agree with AmblerGirl, I just got back from Tamarindos where I shared an appitizer with my sister and had a wonderful chicken with Mole and their free margaritas!! A great night out for $24 including tip!!

Just moved to Oreland...

We just moved to Oreland and I am in need of some standard recommendations; pizza, chinese, casual eatery, etc. I tried Tequila Joe's and it was ok, but not all to my liking. Thanks!

Andy's Diner, Conshohocken

We have been back twice since my last post, for a lunch a few days ago and dinner tonight. For lunch we had burgers wich were super think and very tasty. I think they burgers are 10oz and the meat was very lean. They were served on Kaiser rolls, and while I prefer regular burger rolls they size and thickness of the burger really needed a more substantial roll like the Kaiser. The fries came very hot and were very good. The service was pretty good, the waitress came over a few times and gave us extra napkins and the manager came around to ask how everyting was. Tonight we went for an early dinner, my husband got the open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatos and green beans. He also was going to order just a cup of matzoh ball soup but the waitress said for around the same price he could get the salad bar with a soup station and bread! It was a great deal! The soup was great, the chicken and matzoh balls were very tender, the challah was also very fresh and had just the right amount of sweetness and the salad bar had a great variety. The salad, bread and soup bar comes free with standard entrees. Somehow my husband still had room to eat most of his turkey sandwich, he enjoyed it very much. I ordered the turkey Ruben and it was very tasty, the turkey was just like my husband's, not processed meat but carved off the bird! The service was good, the waitress came by a few times and once again the manager stoped by to ask how everything was, a very nice touch. As we went to pay they were giving out free danish! Oh, we will be back again and again and again!

Andy's Diner, Conshohocken

My husband and I went for brunch today. We were able to sit outside which was wonderful. When we went in to be seated we overheard some people complaining that they had been waiting over half an hour for their food. But we didn't have that problem. Our waiter came over right away and took our drink order, I had to wait a few minutes for my coffee but it was pretty decent coffee. Typical diner coffee, not too strong but ok. I ordered the eggs benedict with regular bacon and my husband ordered scrambled eggs and bacon which came with toast and hash browns. Everything was very tasty. The bacon was a bit greasy and didn't taste very...well, bacon-y, but the rye toast was very fresh and hot and good. Both our eggs were cooked very well. Our waiter came back a few times to ask how we were doing and refill my coffee. Even a manager (or owner?) walked over and chatted with us. The bill came to about $18. We will definitely be back to try out lunch and dinner.

Carrot Cake

The carrot cake from The Night Kitchen is amazing! I am not a huge fan normally but theirs is so very good.
